KAVLESAD POINT - AMBOLI GHATS. Translated literally and it would be called Crows Call or Cry. 11 kms from the amboli bus stand, this point is a detour from the highway and into the wilderness. The sugarcane fields, crude road and the working farmers add to the beauty of the flowing streams, the clouds caressing your face as you feel the love of mother nature. One can reach Amboli via bus and train. Driving yourself or renting a car would be faster. Sindurga (meaning Ocean Fort), was built in 1664 by the great 17th century Maratha King, Shivaji. You will be awed at the the majestic fort and wonder how stupendous the task would have been in that era in the midst of the sea. Even today you can only access it during calm weather using boats.
