About this property
A charming little town nestled between the Seine and the forest
Charming little house in the heart of a typical Thomery garden, surrounded by ancient walls ensuring peace and tranquility. This is an outbuilding (approximately 35m²) at the rear of the main house, which we rent out when we are away during the summer. The house consists, on the ground floor, of a bright living room with an open-plan kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. Upstairs, there is a small bedroom area with a pull-out bed (80x200 or 160x200 cm) perfect for one or two children, and a bedroom with a double bed (160x200 cm) and French doors opening onto the greenery. Please note that access to the upper floor is via a spiral staircase which may be difficult for elderly people and young children. The cottage has been completely renovated and redecorated. The garden is fully walled and secure. Bed linen and towels are provided. On the ground floor, there is a living area with a sofa bed. Thomery is a quiet and bucolic village with a long tradition and historical past of grape cultivation. Traces of this can be seen in the many small paths lined with vineyard walls. You will have plenty of time to recharge, reconnect with the energy of the nearby forest and the Seine River below the village. The village is quite spread out, and shops are located in the lower part of the village; it is recommended to have a means of transport, such as a car or bicycle. Bakery, pharmacy, restaurant, and supermarket with a laundromat are available in the village.
Nearby: Located a 3-minute walk from the Rosa Bonheur Museum and the Fontainebleau Forest. Fontainebleau, an imperial city with numerous shops and restaurants, and of course, its castle. Montigny and Grez-sur-Loing for a canoe trip or a refreshing swim in the Loing (a calm river where motorised navigation is not allowed) Samois-sur-Seine in the footsteps of Django Reinhardt who stayed there until his last resting place. Bois-le-Roi and its stunning riverside houses, opulent 19th-century houses Saint-Mammès, a village of boatmen Vaux-le-Vicomte and its events throughout the year A little further on is the village of Barbizon, very famous for its school of painting. You will also find the starting point for numerous walks through the Fontainebleau rocks (20 min by car) and its very popular climbing spots. Milly la Forêt, Le Cyclop monumental sculpture by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. Nemours, canals and town centre, Museum of Prehistory. Egreville Museum, Antoine Bourdelle garden with its giant sculptures, 30 min by car. Provins, medieval town, one hour away. Access: Thomery train station (20 min on foot, 8 min by bike, 3 min by car). Gare de Lyon, 45 min away, a train every hour with the possibility of taking your bike on board. train.
