    The Space:

    With beautiful ocean views, wraparound deck, and plenty of room for the whole family, including the family dog, this split-level Cape Meares rental is located just one block from the beach.



    What's nearby:

    The home is situated about eight miles from Tillamook and Cape Meares State Park, which offers hiking and the Cape Meares Lighthouse. Cape Meares proper is a quaint, quiet residential town with no services, but restaurants and shops are close by in both Oceanside and Tillamook. Popular activities include fishing, crabbing, and kayaking in Tillamook Bay, and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge provides views of tufted puffins and Stellar sea lions.

It was a great dog friendly home which is hard to find. There are a number of little things that would take this from a 3 to a four or five. There is carpet in the bathroom with no bath mat on top so the water just seeps into the floor, no door mat by the basement door so you have to sweep every time someone comes in that way, no top sheets on half the beds and the assortment of dishes and pots and pans makes it hard to put together a meal. Also a few more outdoor chairs would be great. The location and kitchen remodel were amazing.

The exterior of the property was less than neat. The deck had several mismatched boards (clearly in the process of replacing), there was a dirty wine glass on the entry threshold, no deck furniture was provided. No working latch on the deck gate; if you bring pets, bring a bungee cord to keep it secure. Miscommunication regarding entry procedures delayed our ability to get inside and use the facilities after a long drive. Once we finally gained entry, we found unidentified organic matter in the kitchen sink, several unclean items in the kitchen, the bedroom carpets looked stained, and there was carpeting in the bathroom. Not a rug, carpet. Very outdated and quite unsanitary. The basement had peeled/curled floor board adjacent to the sliding door. There was black stains below them. The kitchen and living room had potential but due to the dirty/unsanitary conditions, we chose to vacate immediately The host did provide us with a full refund and Tiffany was very gracious and understanding.
