Clean, comfortable home situated near great hiking trails & fishing (Roosevelt & Apache). We had an issue during our stay that our host readily addressed.

Views for days
We stayed with family and brought our SxS's. There are so many trails near by, there endless fun. The home was super clean and huge. We loved hanging on the patio in the morning and afternoon listening to the birds. The bed was super comfortable. The only down side was the internet as it was out most of our trip. We have family near by and they said it's pretty normal for the service they had. I'll make a recommendation and I'm sure they will look into it. I read other reviews about needing a grill light recently and I saw that one was added. Great host very friendly and we would love to stay again.

Exceeded expectations - a dog owner's dream!
The house has spacious rooms and TONS of space inside and out. We spent almost a week there over Christmas and did all of our cooking in the well-appointed kitchen. The huge table sits six comfortably (with the two extra folding chairs added to the four super comfy dining chairs). The house provides an excellent opportunity for family/friend gathering fun. We played more pool than we have in years! The patio provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed our coffee each morning accompanied by a beautiful view of the sunrise over the mountains. This house is PERFECTLY set up for families traveling with their canine family members. There was a dog dish set up outside already and a pooper scooper provided. The backyard is also primarily sand, which was comfy on our pup's paws while exploring the beautifully fenced yard, which is reinforced all along the bottom for extra security. The only glitch we experienced was because Wi-fi is via satellite provider and was down one day of our trip. The rest of he time it was fine. We have friends and family in the area who say it's the norm for the service to go out occasionally, but not often. The owner was responsive within a few hours. It was okay for our vacation but I could see it as an issue if I were attempting to work remote while on vacation. It was extremely helpful to have the ability to do our own laundry on-site as well. Highly recommend this house! We'll book again while in Tonto Basin!

This was our second stay in the Tonto House with mutual friends. The home was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Overall, Tonto House has a very good feel and is set up for friends and families to have fun both inside and outside.

Location, Location, Comfort, and Games!
We (two older couples) stayed a couple of nights at the Tonto House in order to hike a couple of sections of the Arizona Trail. The house was superbly located for the two trailheads we needed to access. It is the most comfortable of the three houses we have rented in the vicinity, and it has the most amazing collection of games -- lovely pool table, horse shoes, badminton, cornhole, board games and two huge TVs. Jeff was incredibly prompt to answer text messages (we had the dishwasher fail to drain mid-cycle) and most accommodating. We are thinking of renting the Tonto House again to complete our one last remaining unhiked section of the AZT in the vicinity.

SO relaxing and beautiful
Tonto house never fails to give us a beautiful view and lots of fun. There was a family of deer that was hanging out on the ridge. So beautiful to watch them. We played pool and also hung out outside. It really is a peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy with your family and friends AND dog friendly too.

If you are looking for a place to relax after a long day on the lake this house is for you! We enjoyed the pool table, and games. The kitchen had everything you need, and the beds were comfy. The outside was cozy with beautiful views. Thank you for sharing your home we will be back!

Peaceful getaway
As always the Tonto house is perfect. Dog friendly too. We enjoyed playing badminton, volleyball, corn hole, and the indoor pool table is great for super hot weather! This place creates tranquility!!

Great place, poor communication
Excellent property. Access code was not sent prior to stay. Luckily, I had one from a previous stay. No communication when I asked for the code. Would have been out of luck, and couldn’t have used the property if I hadn’t had the code from before. Traveled in from out of state. Very poor checkin situation.

Great getaway
We loved our stay at the Tonto house, great location, quiet and comfortable. We saw quail, hares, ravens, a roadrunner and a couple of bark scorpions. Beautiful place. The peace and quiet was just what we needed.

Beautiful home
This was a great place for a vacation. Very clean, had a problem with the water heater and Greg & Peggy were there within a couple hours to take care of it. I would recommend this vacation house to anyone looking to stay in Tonto Basin.

Fantastic
We were all pleasantly surprised with the home. It had everything we needed and then some. Fantastic view from the outdoor patio which we enjoyed nightly by the fireplace . It was an incredible place to relax after a day of fishing and atv riding. Watching the football game while playing pool wasn't bad either ! I would highly recommend, thank you for allowing my family to enjoy your beautiful home !

Thanksgiving AZ Visit
Loved the property, we played pool all the time! Very clean and layout worked great for our family. We could all be together doing the same thing, or in different areas of the house doing our own thing, and we did both! Really nice for our adult kids' dog who could run in the large fenced yard, accessible by front and back doors. Sat out by the fire several nights, more than we every have at other properties, it was a very inviting space.

Great house for the family
We really enjoyed our week long stay. The house was set up perfectly with everything you need and plenty of room for our family, boat and 2 large vehicles. The kitchen was stocked with seasonings, pans, pots and condiments. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable and of course the pool table, games and view were a plus. Some past reviews complained about the bugs such as beetles and or scorpions and yes we saw a few (mosty outside), but knowing we are staying in the desert with natural landscaping it shouldn't be a surpise to anyone especially depending the time of year you are staying. With that said they have done a lot to try and prevent natural critters from entering the house. We highly recommend staying and plan on returning in the near future.

This place is amazing! If you’re looking for a clean, quiet, we’ll appointed, delightful place to stay near Roosevelt Lake, this is IT! This property is a wonderful. The hosts have thought of everything, even all the small things, down to night lights in each bathroom and the places you’d like to have one in an unfamiliar place. Very comfortable inside and out. Plenty of parking for a boat and several vehicles. Nestled against the Tonto National Forest boundary, it is secluded with an amazing view of the valley. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of towels etc. All you’ll need is your food, and you’re set. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Tonto House is always a beautiful and peaceful place for us. It's perfect for the dogs too. Even when we were rained out of the lake visit, the beautiful views and pool table kept us occupied. The owners are amazing and communicative too. Super clean house really is nice too.

Our Entire Trip Was Ruined!!! No word from HOST!!!
We rented this place out for my wife's birthday, and were extremely disappointed!! We were supposed to stay for 3 nights and 4 days, and on evening 2 we were completely invaded with black beetles and had to rush out of there (we have videos and pictures). There were thousands of them everywhere surrounding the property and both of my kids beds had them crawling in them. The door to the laundry room and all the doors and windows are not sealed so they came through the cracks, as well as the vents in the Kitchen area. They were crawling on the Kitchen table, and on our counters. Disgusting!! We have reached out to the Host 3 times and have not heard a word back from him!! How disrespectful is that!! Ruined our entire vacation. I was going to say nice things about the home itself, but the disrespect of not responding at all I would give this home a negative review if I could. Maybe in the future you could make sure that things are fully cleaned up in the refrigerator, dishes and pots and pans are fully cleaned, or replaced with new ones if they are worn out or old. Spices would be nice since you pretty much have NOTHING to do up there, but sit home and BBQ. Oh and on top of this nightmare, If you are allowing pets in your home you should request a record of their shots. Our dogs contracted a respiratory virus from this place. On the second morning of us being there they started hacking every time they barked, or would get excited. After we rushed out of there at midnight we took them to the vet when we got back home the next day, and they are both on antibiotics for an infection . Not only did we get screwed on 2 nights of not staying there, but we now have a vet bill that has cost us round $200. Would be nice if you could at lease respond Greg!!

We usually stay at the East end of the lake but For Memorial weekend it was a nice getaway from the riff raff of a crazy holiday weekend. BBQ/ coffee on the patio overlooking all of Tonto Basin. We will be back.

Amazingly beautiful, relaxing and fun place!
We love this house! It has beautiful views, very clean, it's extremely peaceful, pet friendly, fenced yard, doggie door, pool table, sand volleyball, horse shoes, corn hole, gas fire pit, cable tv, wifi, and even a super cute bingo game. We have stayed here several times and it's always amazing. One stay last year we were rained out and didn't even make it to the lake but had a great time with the included games! Greg and Peggy have decorated this house SO nicely too!!

DO NOT STAY HERE. SCORPIONS IN HOUSE
DO NOT STAY HERE. There are scorpions in the house, we contacted VRBO and the PROPERTY OWNER multiple times and had to find a different place to stay. Neither the owner or VRBO refunded even part of our stay. Owner is non responsive after he apologized for the scorpions and said he would 'see what he could do' to reimburse our payment. We contacted the owner twice the night we checked in and again in the morning. No response until after check out date. Guess he wanted to make sure and get all of the rent. VRBO sent an email basically saying sorry for your loss but they wouldn't help
