The first room we were given had mould, a bad smell, and dirty carpets, though staff did move us quickly to a better room. Breakfast service was consistently slow — on some days we were ignored and had to chase staff to take our order. Food was often cold, and we overheard other guests also complaining. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Towels weren’t always replaced, the toilet and bathroom weren’t cleaned, and rooms weren’t hoovered during the stay. For the £25 per night dog charge, we expected more than a single towel and blanket with no daily refresh. There were also maintenance issues (broken bathroom doors, stained furniture, missing remote cover), and only two disabled parking spaces which were always full. On the positive side, the spa treatments were excellent — especially Scarlett, who was lovely — and we appreciated being offered an accessible room, which many hotels don’t provide. Sadly, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on our stay.

Great place, friendly staff, easy parking and good facilities. Rooms were way to warm and uncomfortable to sleep in - AC not operational & the fans provided did little to alleviate the stuffiness.

Lovely hotel but unsafe heat wise

The room was so hot it was unsafe. The air conditioning units have been decomissioned but there is no fans or alternative options to be cool- anf the reception staff really didnt care. The rest of the hotel was lovely and food was great for breakfast.

We chose this hotel as it was promoted as dog friendly and we were visiting the area for hikes with our pup. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We thought the food in the restaurant was really great - especially the Sunday roast! Parking was included which was great, and there's a really nice trail right from the property that was perfect for morning strolls. The staff were very friendly and the room was spacious and nice. We did feel that overall the establishment was understaffed and it led to a subpar experience in some ways. We were constantly left waiting in the restaurant for orders to be taken and things were forgotten on numerous occasions. At the spa, they let way too many people in and it was overcrowded, loud and not relaxing. There wasn't even a spot on the wall to lean on in the hot tubs. This was a bit disappointing as its a lovely spa and has so much potential. Only sharing this feedback in hopes some small changes could be made to bring the hotel up to it's full potential!

Lovely property. Very nice rooms and spa was good. Food excellent but due to being very busy there was quite a wait for food and drinks: 30 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were excellent.

Staff are fantastic- extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast a little chaotic. If you’re not early you can be waiting 45mins for food and they ran out of eggs during our stay. Also almost all of our group of 16 had to have tepid or cold showers which was also disappointing. That said we enjoyed our stay and we’d go back.

We’ve been to the Swan a few times over the past few years. It’s a real shame to see such a nice hotel be neglected. It is in dire need of a refurb. Peeling wall paper in the bar area, mold on the bedrooms and restaurant, hall lights not working. We were so disappointed, especially as they market themselves as a high-end hotel

Please stay elsewhere

Just got home really upset. Saved up to take my mum as a special treat. We arrived and checked into our “lovely room”. There is nothing lovely about this room. It was filthy. I was embarrassed to take my mum. I’m not one to complain and feel awkward in doing so so didn’t say anything. Had we been asked how everything was then I would’ve said but we weren’t even asked on checking out how we found everything. First the room was shocking , drafty and in desperate need of a full makeover. It’s tired, paint chipping, dirty marks all over, really grubby heavily stained carpet. Filthy radiator, who knows what we were breathing in from it. Heavily marked area where the tea and coffee pot were. No slippers, robes or bottled water as advertised . Windows were like a health hazard, black mould, really cold draft coming through, heavily disguised with shutters. We went to the spa, same again, dirty. Foam scum in the pool. Used cups, food containers and plastic glasses littered everywhere, on tables, around the pool, outside, towels everywhere. We were in there for 2hrs and they were still there when we left! Restaurant food was ok but expensive. The waiter was very nice. He was the best thing about it. The hotel was cold and drafty. My mum gets cold so he sat us at “the warmest table” in the restaurant as it was next to a radiator…this wasn’t on! The fires were out in the evening. We had to go back up and put an extra layer on to sit in the bar area as it was that drafty.

Very disappointed with the stay was expecting boutique but got budget hotel vibes - Room was nothing like advertised and felt dated & dirty - Staff on reception unhelpful - Twilight Spa Experience -The Spa was filthy - No beds available as all covered in dirty towels & empty glasses from people who had left in the day - Only good thing was the pub restaurant & friendly staff
