"To begin with I requested 2 towels for each guest as we were staying two nights. I was told that they would be provided although normally each guest is only provided 1 towel and that they expected a "good" review for doing so. Next we were told that check in was at 4 and check out was before 10 although it clearly states check out is at 10:00 am. Loud live music played from a next door club from 6:00 PM until 12:00 AM. Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Drinks and nibbles offered twice a day which was lovely after the heat of the day. Pool was a lovely addition and great to cool off. Very clean. Room was large although felt very dated. No headboards, lots of dirty marks on desk and lamps and the windows were celotaped to stop noise from pool. Onsen was good. Bathroom was extremely old fashioned and had to step up into it from bedroom. Shuttle to train station was really appreciated and used it twice. Air con in the room was very poor and controlled by central system so no adjustment could be made at all. Breakfast was chaotic and loud but very good choice of foods amd drinks."

"Hotel is near Beppu train station, is clean and has plenty of toiletries at the hotel lobby, so you don’t have to bring your own toiletries if you’re not fussy. Breakfast is included and the spread is decent. Onsen is the best feature of this hotel; my husband and son went every night. Highly recommend this hotel. 👍"

"Hot sprong bath was amazing. Especially the private hot spring both "roten" and inhouse bath with variety of Hot Springs were easy to use and very relaxing. Free popsicles and ice cream service, free massage chair, and reading room with a lot of comic books werr also great. Air freshner using at public area sich as lobby and elevator was bad. I strongly suggest to change the Fragrance."
