This is a bit of a paradox of a hotel.
It's extremely basic, no facilities whatsoever outside of the room, worn and shabby, but the room itself was really nice, very nicely decorated in traditional Venetian style with particularly nice furniture.
We were in a deluxe double canal view room, which was up two flights of stairs (no lift). Reception is often unmanned, but when someone is there they are helpful.
You are effectively renting an en-suite room. If you are ok with that then it's a good place to stay. If you want other facilities that you might expect in a hotel, this isn't the place for you.
