  • The Church of Santa Lucia, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, is located on the hill of the same name in the city of Viana do Castelo. The church was built on the site of a small medieval chapel, known as a pilgrimage site for people with eye diseases. The construction of the temple lasted from 1904 to 1959. The eclectic-style Miguel Ventura Terra project combines neo-romanticism, neo-Gothic and Byzantine architecture. It is generally accepted that the architect was inspired by the forms of the Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris. To the foot of the church at a height of 195 meters above sea level there is a line of a funicular built in 1923. Tourists can take the elevator to the observation deck under the very dome of the church. A panoramic view of the Lima River valley, mountains and the Atlantic Ocean opens from the platform. In 1927, National Geographic magazine named this species the third most beautiful in the world.

Best in town

This property is Sofia's home and filled with amazing artifacts from her travels. The apartment is in a quiet residential area but only 5 minutes from the town. It has everything you could want for your stay including a garden balcony that overlooks the sea. Sofia is the kindest and most thoughtful host. Thank you Sofia

Very nice and central apt.

Sophie, communicated with me very well. Google took us to the wrong location and she sent new directions and waited for us. We were driving and had a car but there was always parking available on the street below. The building has a lift for getting up to the apt. Previous reviews are accurate. We would stay again.

The apartment is fantastic. Very spacious, comfortably furnished and well equipped. 2 good sized double bedrooms and a large shower room. Great views over the rooftops to the sea. Walking distance to the historic centre and shops, bars & restaurants. Plenty of parking near the apartment. Highly recommended.

Great apartment with a lovely ocean view

We loved staying here, it was the ideal airbnb experience. The place was super clean and cozy and within walking distance to the city center and the beach. You can actually see that Sofia has taken a lot of care for the place. We felt at home pretty fast. And the views are amazing! All of the tips Sofia and Daniella gave us were great and the communication was super fast and friendly! We would definitely recommend this place and come back in the future.

Erholsamer Urlaub

Vor unserer Reise hat Sofia Kontakt mit uns aufgenommen und uns ihre Telefonnummer hinterlassen. Da wir das Haus nicht dierkt gefunden haben, mussten wir sie anrufen. Sofia kam sofort. Die Wohnung ist gerĂ€umig und es gibt eine große Terasse. Alles, was man fĂŒr den Urlaub braucht, ist da. Sofia hat immer Zeit gefunden, uns alle Fragen zu beantworten und viele Tipps ( von den Restaurants bis zu den Fahrplan des Zuges) zu geben. Wir konnten sie immer gut erreichen, wenn wir Hilfe brauchten. Sie spricht gutes Englisch. Die Wohnung war rechtzeitig gereinigt und die BettwĂ€sche frisch gewechselt. Ihr Arroz doce cremoso ist einfach köstlich. Sie hat uns stets mit portugisischem GebĂ€ck verwöhnt und war immer fĂŒr uns da. Manche Pflanzen von ihrer Terrasse hat sie uns einfach geschenkt. Sehr empfehlenswert! Sehr Empfehlungswert.

Falsche Darstellung der Gegebenheiten vor Ort

Die Wohnung liegt am Hang mit toller Aussicht und ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Betten sind sehr bequem, es gibt RollĂ€den in Bad und SchlafrĂ€umen. Das Badezimmer sieht gut aus, bis auf den Spiegel, der leider einen großen Riss hat! Der Ort ist zu Fuß in ca. 20 Minuten zu erreichen. Toller BĂ€cker etwas die Straße runter! Die Übergabe der Wohnung hĂ€tte besser klappen können, die Vermieterin kam trotz Terminvereinbarung per handy erst auf telefonische Nachfrage. In der Wohnung angekommen, standen dort noch Wischeimer und Aufnehmer. Die Vermieterin sagte, sie habe nur wenig Zeit zum Putzen gehabt und erledigte in unserem Beisein die Restarbeiten. Der KĂŒhlschrank war nicht gereinigt worden und im Eisfach lagen noch Reste vom Vormieter, nach den Vorstellungen der Vermieterin könnten wir die verbrauchen, was wir dankend ablehnten. Daraufhin leerte sie das Eisfach und meinte, die braunen Flecken im TK-Fach kĂ€men daher, dass dort mal etwas ausgelaufen sei. Sie fand das nicht schlimm. Wir haben dann selbst den KĂŒhlschrank gereinigt und das TK-Fach nicht benutzt. Ein Bett war bezogen, das andere Bett nicht. Ich fragte die Vermieterin, wo die BettwĂ€sche wĂ€re. Sie antwortete, das sei nicht nötig, da könnten wir auch so drin schlafen, das wĂŒrde ja immer gewaschen. Das fanden wir nicht und baten um BettwĂ€sche wie beschrieben. SpĂ€ter wurde dann das Bett bezogen. Die Terrasse: Es gibt keinen Tisch und keine StĂŒhle wie auf den Fotos zu sehen. Uns wurde gesagt, dass die alten Terrassenmöbel kaputt seien und sie neue kaufen mĂŒsse. Das dauere aber, da sie deswegen extra nach Porto fahren mĂŒsste. Auf unser nochmaliges Nachfragen wegen der Möbel hat die Vermieterin eine aus ihrem Garten geholte Bierzeltgarnitur aus Kunststoff aufgestellt. GemĂŒtlichkeit sieht anders aus! Die auf den Bildern zu sehenden Holzliegen sind intakt, haben aber keine Auflagen, so dass man direkt auf dem harten Holz liegt. Der Wintergarten, welcher im Angebot der Wohnung erwĂ€hnt wird, existiert ĂŒberhaupt nicht mehr. DafĂŒr liegen aber die restlichen Glaselemente in der Ecke der Terrasse. Die Terrasse selber hat dringend eine Reinigung nötig und die aufgefĂŒhrte Aussenbeleuchtung funktioniert nur auf einer Seite; auf der anderen Seite war eine Lampe kaputt und bei der anderen guckten nur noch die Kabel heraus. Wegen dieser Punkte konnten die Terrasse nicht wirklich nutzen. Fotos sollten doch aktuell sein. Sonst freut man sich auf etwas, das gar nicht da ist!

Lovely apartment

We really enjoyed staying at this property. It's close enough to the center of town to walk down for dinner, but far enough out to have easy parking and quiet. Everything was well equipped and we really enjoyed the lovely huge deck. Sofia gave us some restaurant ideas also, but if you want to cook you have everything you need.

Beautiful apartment, very well equipped

Large, comfortable and well equipped apartment with gorgeous views of the ocean and sunsets! The outdoor terrace is huge and really stunningly pretty with flowers and a garden. Fresh bread available at the bakery down the street and the main downtown with lots of restaurants and cafes is about a 15-20 minute walk. Sofia is very accommodating and a great host!

Terrific holiday. Viana da Castelo is a lovely place. Sofia was so welcoming and helpful.

Beautiful penthouse apartment. Stylish, elegant, full of character, well equipped, comfortable and clean. More than a home from home. Sofia made us fresh orange juice on arrival, had some beer in the fridge,allowed us to pick the lettuce she had grown and one morning brought fresh croissants and bread to us. Thank you Sofia. Great views of the sea. Lovely outdoor area to sit. We were a very happy family of four for 6 nights. Ourselves and 2 teenage daughters. We would definitely recommend a stay in Sofia’s home and hope to return some day.
