Casa Almendro is an airy, roomy studio with breathtaking Caribbean views. Enjoy your own covered terrace as well as Rooftop terrace!

Walk through a lush tropical garden to the this bright and breezy studio. Your accomodations include a large, furnished terrace overlooking the Esperanza shoreline. The entire second floor is your private paradise! Lots of comfortably furnished outdoor living space, including a dining table and chairs, dreamy Papa-san chair, cushioned couch and lounge chairs on the terrace. Inside, you will relax on two couches, two comfy double beds, and enjoy a well equipped kitchen. This gorgeous living space has everything you need including a blender for those tropical drinks! Listen to the Coqui in our lush tropical garden. Then, as the sun begins to set, lounge on our rooftop terrace! This is the best sunset in Vieques! and you have it all to yourselves. The roof features 360 degree views of the Caribbean ocean and mountains! Custom designed and built furniture make this roof top the ultimate in living in paradise.

We are located on the southern coast of the island, on a cul-de-sac in the small fishing village of Esperanza. We are within walking distance to the Malecon, with it's great restaurants, bars and gift shops.

We've had the pleasure of staying at casa almendro a number of times over the past 10 years.The facilities are as pictured, clean, and safe. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty enough room for two people to work in with room to spare. While there is a table and two chairs to eat inside we have all our meals outdoors either on the rooftop or the large covered patio with a shaded seating and dining area.What's "magical" about Alemendro is the rooftop patio with 360 degree views of mountains and the Caribbean. While we find it too hot during the day, we do start each day watching the sunrise with our morning coffee and then end each day watching the sunset. Each evening around 5:45 the day begins to cool, by 6:00 bird song fills the air and white cattle egrets, single and in small flocks, pass right overhead along with a couple white heron, to roost in the trees behind El blok. Next up, during the golden hour after the sun sets and the bats take to the air. By dusk bird song is replaced by tree frogs and then the stars appear. Simply magical.There are few moments in life as serene.

Eileen and Anthony were exceptional hosts, offering great ideas for adventures and dining, and generally providing a wonderful and welcoming home for our week away from the Maine winter. When we arrived they took us on a quick tour of our accommodations and made sure we had everything we needed. They had lots of great advice about local things to do, as well as practical things too, like where to pick up groceries (literally one block away from the house). The apartment was perfect for us, with plenty of space and a full kitchen, including coffee maker and blender. The bathroom was clearly recently updated with a new lovely sink and storage, and the owners stocked both bathroom and beach towels- and chairs, snorkel items, and a cooler! The covered deck and rooftop patio were major highlights of the apartment. Truly, we would have been happy to stay and watch the sunset every night from the roof, as it was absolutely gorgeous. As Eileen is a local expert on all things snorkeling, she was an outstanding resource for us. We saw a ton of fancy fish as a result! Also, we wanted to do some surf casting, and Anthony dug up some of his own personal fishing tackle to help us out. We couldn’t have asked for more generous hosts of such perfect accommodations for our week away.

Eileen and Anthony are always welcoming! We have been staying at Casa Almendro for a few weeks every year for the past several years. It has become our "home away from home ".We especially love the night time view from the rooftop. Spectacular!

It was a nice home that is conveniently located. It could use some renovation. The couches, bed spreads and curtains are a bit worn but overall things are fine. It has a beautiful garden and it’s very close to the downtown restaurants and bars. There’s a grocery just down the street. It was nice to have use of the beach equipment that the host provides as well.

Communication with host was prompt and attentive from the booking date throughout our stay. HOWEVER, she stopped communicating a week later when I tried to discuss feedback regarding the rental. No response to 3 VRBO emails and 1 text. She then reviewed me. The unit is quite basic. (Another reviewer mentioned it could use a refresh, yet that reviewer gave the unit a 10/10 review.) Be aware that there are no A/C, washer/dryer, TV monitor, beach umbrella. Host did not promise those things, so no misrepresentation; bad on me for lack of due diligence. Windows must be open at all times, so quite humid and very noisy at night. Kitchen table plastic. "Closets" rusty wire racks. Same with bathroom shelving. Bathroom lights dim when hot water is turned on. Toilet "flapper" needs to be replaced; toilet runs constantly unless you are on top of it. Top and sides of refrigerator rusty. Towels and pillows not quite threadbare, but leave a lot to be desired. Sofas stained, dirty, or both. CO or smoke detector on wall with its wires hanging out. Only one outdoor pathway light worked, so dangerous entering at night. We pivoted to find alternate accommodations (during Christmas week), and only spent 3 of our planned 9 nights in unit. The cleaners are lovely people, and I want to be clear this is not about the unit being dirty or not cleaned. It is a matter of basic expectations being unmet and the accommodations not being maintained.

The location is very convenient. A convenient store is less than a 1 minute walk away. The main waterfront street, with restaurants and shops is also walkable. The bathroom has a shower and worked just fine. Do know there is no A/C, but there were ceiling fans and an oscillating fan, and with those on, along with the breeze through windows, it was actually often chilly. The view from the very top is clear to the sunset (in December), just be careful as the railing is not fully enclosed on the roof. We did not use the kitchen, so cannot speak to those items.

overall stay was great! close to the Malecon, and beaches and all the activity the island has to offer. much prefer the south side of the island vs the north side and thankful we were so close to it all. checkin was easy and clear. property was accurately described and we enjoyed it.

The outside deck was our favorite. To sit outside and feel the warm breeze is just so healing. It felt like a getaway from life, not just a vaca. I really appreciated the no tv, very relaxing. Cant decide if it's the locals, wildlife on every corner, sunbay beach or the food. If i had to sum it up, i made a new friend while healing in the ocean.

Our dream vacation

Everything was what we hoped for.Comfortable space, beautiful veranda, awesome roofdeck, close by Lydia’s market and other great restaurants and bars.We rented a car and I am glad we did. Eileen is very helpful and responds to questions quickly. We used the beach chairs, snorkel gear and cooler every day. It was always great to come back, and walk by the beautiful plants along the house and by the back patio.Love to come back

Location! Quiet cul-de-sac yet steps from the beach, Malecon and wonderful restaurants. Very large space, wonderful windows and a constant breeze. Excellent kitchen. We had a great 3 weeks!

A Little Piece of Paradise

The home is in a great location as it is a short walk to Esperanza, but far enough to be quiet. The host was welcoming, kind, and helpful from the start. A large outdoor space with a view of the ocean and town was incredible. A small store was a very short walk away. We didn’t have much opportunity to use it, but the view from the roof rooftop was insane.

always a good place to stay....convenient to the malecon with its restaurants and shops. Walking distance to the beach, and a small market a block away. We've stayed here several times and it's always comfortable but it's time for a little updating. (BTW we've already booked for next year!)

Paradise Found!

Eileen and Tony offer a lovely home base for exploring Vieques. Located in a neighborhood in Esperanza, it is outfitted with everything you need for a low-key beach vacation, including an upper 360-degree view deck that we promise you’ll want to watch every sunset from. From the moment you stroll down the fragrant garden path to your little “treehouse oasis,” or enjoy the covered veranda, you probably (like us) start planning your next trip to this unique island. Close to the south beaches and maledon strip of shops/restaurants. Small grocery store an half block away. Eileen is just a text away from answering all your questions. She also offers beach chairs and snorkeling gear — plus great recommendations of where to snorkel. Highly recommend!

Wonderful visit to Esperanza Vieques

We were so lucky to find this location! It offers beautiful views from the roof top, a great outdoor veranda, a well-stocked kitchen, and is close to the Malecon. It is also quiet (except for the roosters). We rented a golf cart but probably would have been better off bringing our rental car over on the ferry (we didn't know we could). One beach is more beautiful than the next. Snorkeling was good as well. It is a great place to stay, especially compared to pictures we saw online of some of the hotels on the Malcone.

Perfect place whether it's for 2 days or 2 months!

We have stayed here before and it is a very comfortable environment. The views from the veranda and the rooftop are spectacular. The kitchen is fully equipped for all meals from a snack to a full dinner. Communication with Eileen and Anthony is very good. The gardens around the house are beautiful and well maintained! The apartment is within walking distance from the malecon and the beach.

A home-away-from-home in Paradise!

We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Casa Almendro! The location is perfect, in walking distance to the beach and amazing restaurants. There is a bodega a block away that sells anything you might need from food to sunscreen. Eileen and Anthony were the ultimate hosts! Great to be back in Vieques

Returned to Vieques to this great space and location. Eileen was a great host and the space was so good we ended up cooking meals and enjoying the terrace and roof deck all week. Great neighborhood, so much better than a hotel room…Lydia’s market has nearly everything and the beaches and Esperanza vibe relaxes and resets you. Sad to leave….
