“Off the beaten track was the perfect place to stay while we explored Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It's quiet and private, and not too far of a drive from restaurants and coffee shops. Wendy and David were excellent hosts. They helped us find the turnoff when we arrived after dark and were easy to contact via text or phone. Overall, this was a relaxing quiet retreat - exactly what we'd hoped for!”

“It was very convenient location in Hilo. Next to lovely grounds. I did not see a hot tub, but did use pool. We had a mountain view but not an ocean view. The 3 balconies were great for viewing. For the price this is a good value. The bathtubs are old. But, they work fine. It is an older unit and building, but it was comfortable. Two bedroom and two bathrooms. Has coffee filters and shampoo. Has parking under facility. Walkable to a beach and lovely park area.”

“Very nice vacation suite, nicely stocked kitchen with many appliances to use. The patio opens up just outside pool/hot tub area. Love the location, just down the road from black sand beach. This was our second time staying in Colony 1, can't wait to come back again!”

“You have to go down a flight of steps to enter the condo which could be a challenge carrying luggage. The internet did not work until Julie came to the rescue with the updated Wi-Fi information. Thank you again Julie! The condo was small, but conveniently located and adequately equipped.”

“We had a great time at Na'alehu. We arrived after dark and the road to the apartment was a little bit scary, as some parts are not paved. But just keep going to the top of the hill and you'll find the place. Vickie and Wesley were very friendly and exeptionally helpful during our stay - thank you! The place is close to south point, green sands beach and Punalu'u black sand beach (where green sea turtles sometimes come to rest). We also recommend the Punalu'u bakeshop with delicious treats.”

“We had a comfortable stay. Could have used a bigger clearer sign at entrance - but house was right there and as it was in the picture. Plenty of room to park multiple cars and plenty of space inside. We were a little concerned about no AC but temp went down to 65 at night and was quite comfortable. Cannot drink from the tap - this was a surprise (was it noted on listing?) but host provided bottled water so it was not an issue - just a surprise. We were disappointed that we did not meet the dogs!……
