This 4-bedroom A-frame charming lake house is ideal for a family & friends adventure packed holiday. Simply enjoy the lake views lounging on the deck or enjoy a more adventurous vacation; hiking, fishing, walking, boating, and biking are all at your doorstep.
The space
Our holiday house is in a stunning location, on the lake front in Lake Hawea. Wanaka township is 15 minutes drive and if its skiing or snowboarding you're after, Cardrona and Treble Cone Mountains are just 30-40 minutes away! This location has it all.
The dining and lounge area has uninterrupted views of Lake Hawea and the surrounding mountains. With a large deck off the lounge room, it is a great spot to sit back and enjoy the views or for alfresco dining. The new kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need.
The house faces north (towards the sun in southern hemisphere!) so with all day sunshine, it feels light and airy in summer and warm in winter.
The house is on 3 levels - upstairs has one double bedroom and two twin rooms, living areas and one bathroom are on middle floor, and lower floor has a double bedroom, and bathroom.
The gardens offer a quiet outdoor social area and have direct lake access via a private little path.
There is also the local pub and restaurant, takeaways and convenience store all within walking distance.
The area is a fabulous location if you love the outdoors - hiking (tramping in NZ), mountain biking and kayaking at doorstep, and close to the adrenalin rush activities of Queenstown!
The mountain and lake scenery is stunning so the area makes a great holiday destination in both summer and winter.
The small township of Lake Hawea, famous for having the world's highest number of Mount Everest summiteers, is 15 minutes by car from Wanaka and an hour from Queenstown international airport. The house is 5 minutes walk from the shop/cafe, restaurant, tennis courts, children's park and pub.
The Te Araroa walking/biking trail that runs from top to bottom of NZ is directly accessible from the garden. Bike and walk trails along rivers and lakes are everywhere in the area, and there are cafes and restaurants available on the lakefront in Wanaka when you need a good coffee.
The fenced yard has plenty of room for a game of backyard cricket. Through a gate, a path leads from the backyard down to lake edge – perfect for an evening sundowner!
You will be welcomed by our local host Amanda - enjoy your stay in beautiful Lake Hawea.
