Flaggy Creek Cabin is set on a private 260 acre rural property at the end of an unsealed road surrounded by the peace and serenity of State Forest. A highlight is a beautiful permanent creek which meanders its way through the property for approximately 1 km and is habitat to platypus, turtles, an abundance of birdlife and towering blue and rose gums. Take a dip on a hot day in one of several waterholes including a large lagoon adjacent a mini waterfall surrounded by beautiful she-oaks. We are blessed with an abundance of wildlife including the iconic wallabies, grey kangaroos, goannas, kookaburras and kingfishers. The area is renowned as a birdwatching location. Graded tracks on and off the property are ideal for bush walking.
We are completely off grid with a gas hot water system and a cosy wood fired combustion heater, being nearly 900 meters above sea level it is a lot cooler than the coast. (Wood supplied)
There is a 4 km unsealed road that leads to the cabin winding its way through the state forest and can be traveled by a 2WD vehicle with caution as the road can have its hazards including cattle and some rough patches particularly after rain.
During the wet season (December-April) we recommend 4WD as there is a concrete causeway creek crossing and on rare occasions this can become impassable with an extreme amount of rain but does go down very quickly once rain has eased.
The cabin is rustic but very cosy. We do ask that guests read an information notice on arrival covering aspects such as care for the cabin and some of its quirky requirements that helps us to live off grid, recycle etc. We do not allow dogs only because we give preference to the native wildlife.
We will be there to greet you on arrival and help you to settle in and are available for assistance during your stay.. We have a maximum of 3 campsites on the property booked through Hipcamps. Catering for couples and fully self contained caravans only. These campsites are situated well away from Flaggy Creek Cabin to maintain your privacy and rules apply to ensure everyone has a peaceful stay. No pets allowed with camping either.
