"Our room was perfectly clean. You absolutely cannot beat the view from the room as well. Natalie at the front desk and the other staff were excellent helpful. Since the restaurant was closed for the season they made us a delicious egg and sausage breakfast. I will absolutely be back!!"
Secluded Lakefront, Dog-Friendly Cabin with Canoe, 7 Miles from the Ocean
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing place from a great host! Anne was super communicative in the leadup to our stay and answered all our questions, including giving suggestions for hiking trails in the area and instructions for operating the wood stove. The cabin was absolutely perfect, the beds were comfy, the wood stove was so cozy for evenings inside and the chairs on the dock were great for quiet mornings outside, and the birds at the feeders didn't even mind when we sat on the porch with them. Lots of things are provided by the hosts, including all the firewood you could possibly need and plenty of food for the birds. We also had a great time paddling around the lake in the canoe; the foliage is gorgeous and there are some cool rock formations and submerged trees and sunken docks to see around the edges of the lake. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!"
Cape Home overlooking Bucks Harbor and Pettigrew Point
10/10 Excellent
"The Quimby House is charming, with a wonderful view of the harbor. There were three rainbows over the water during my stay—and one of them was a vibrant double rainbow. Someone told me Machiasport is “prone to rainbows.” The inside of the house is clean and freshly refurbished—new floors, new windows, new paint. There’s a comfortable bed, a big TV, and a huge sofa. The host has had some family photos reproduced on canvas to help you get a feel for the history of the place—there’s the lobster boat on the shore, the corner where the Christmas tree always stood, the old folks in the kitchen with the same cupboards you will use right there beyond them. If you love fresh salt air and the sound of waves sifting through millions of polished beach stones, Jasper Beach is right up the road, and if you enjoy a sandy beach, Roque Bluffs State Park is not very far away. Ask someone the story of the first English ship captured in the Revolutionary War—right out there in your beautiful view. There are historical sites to visit and a restaurant famous for its pie in the town next door. The house is just perfect for a laid back, relaxing visit to down east Maine. And there are lobster picks in the drawer!"
"We loved this place, not least because our River View room gave us a beautiful outlook. We even saw a seal swimming past. The two beds were big and comfy, the room had been renovated and a real person on reception made a nice change. I strongly recommend this place."
"Just the cutest little cottage that has all the necessities. Plus the backyard, the daily deer visits, the proximity to the ocean and dog-friendly pond. We had scheduled a 5 day stay and loved the location so much extended it 10 more days! Maggie, the host, was responsive and easy to communicate with. My husband loved Roque Bluffs so much we want to come back again next spring! By the way, our bloodhound had the time of his life- and is quite sad he had to come back home."

"Clean, quiet, pet-friendly location about 8 miles from Machias. The view of the lake is beautiful and sunrises are worth getting up for. This was our first autumn visit to downeast Maine and we thoroughly enjoyed the woods and lake around our rental.Thank you to our host for a lovely place to stay!"
