The cottage was very cozy and clean, well stocked, and not noisy considering it is just a few minutes from town. My only complaint is two days were extremely hot and the advertised AC amounted to a few fans!

Could've been a bit cleaner. I get it's an old cottage, but cobwebs everywhere aren't necessary. Also, filling all of the soap dispensers with water to dilute is really budget. It's cute. Great wood burning stove. But just didn't feel like it was worth the price or up to the standards of other vacation rentals I've stayed at in the area and in this price point. I just never felt...clean.

Quaint, tranquil get away with interesting history

The cottage was a great place to stay with great easy access to downtown Woodstock, Kingston, and Rhineback. Lots of attention to detail by the owner. For example, there are plenty of kitchen utensils and dishes and tons of books and DVD's. The DVD's are displayed in alphabetical order and there are multiple heat zones that enabled the bathroom to independently be very warm while keeping the remaining zones more temperate. The place has everything you need for a cozy stay. The only challenge was the very low ceiling clearance over the bed and steep stairs to the upper level where the bed is. For older and or physically challenged folks this may pose a bit of a challenge. Definitely recommend this great little get away.

Lovely Property!

We had an excellent stay at Herb Cottage. It was charming and homey. Check in was simple, guidelines clear. Lots of privacy which was great! I will say that although you could walk to downtown Woodstock, there are no sidewalks and I personally would not have felt safe walking down the road to town, especially since there is little shoulder.

Lovely cottage

Lovely in every way except loft area around bed. Didn’t realize I couldn’t stand upright. Was difficult to get around. Carpet could be replaced on loft. No idea it had such challenging steps to the bed. Cottage had a musty smell when first entered.

A Comfort Zone

The location was perfect. The history of the residence fascinating. The hosts most accommodating. We had a problem that was quickly attended to and solved. Everything we needed was on hand and our dog loved walking about in the yard. Elder visitors alert: the top step is tough to negotiate, but we did.

AMAZING TIME!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. It was exactly as described. So gorgeously quaint. The wood burning stove was a HUGE plus! Thank you for such a lovely stay!

Oozing with charm!

Herb Cottage is quite the little gem. You can feel the history in this well appointed and charming home. The hosts could not have been more thorough and responsive during our stay. We look forward to our next visit through Woodstock.

Wonderful, Relaxing Getaway

This is a lovely cottage that's perfectly situated between the town of Woodstock and the Overlook Mountain trail. Wonderful ambiance, great mattress, generously-appointed kitchen. Only caveat is that the ceilings are quite low in some spots — especially the kitchen entrance and the upstairs loft-style bedroom. Bumped my head a few times when I forgot to duck!

Gorgeous peaceful cottage

For a peaceful getaway this cottage will serve you well. It’s a long walk (15 min) to central Woodstock and also feels quiet and away from the hustle bustle. Fully equipped, cozy, quaint place. Perfect for - couple and a small pooch, if you have one. Easy communication with owners rep.

Beautiful Cottage

The herb cottage was amazing. Has everything you need and is just around the corner from downtown Woodstock. We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and were really pleased with the quiet and quaint environment the cottage offered. Would recommend for those looking for a peaceful relaxing stay. (also the wood stove is great)

Cozy weekend

My husband and I really enjoyed using Herb Cottage as a base to explore the Catskills and Hudson Valley areas. The place was as described and had everything we needed to be comfortable. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove in the evenings.

Last Hurrah

My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at this cozy cottage situated within a 5-minute drive of Woodstock’s great shops and restaurants and equally close to Woodstock’s great hiking trails. After long days of walking and hiking we enjoyed relaxing on the chaises in the backyard, and in the evenings the expansive DVD collection was a treat!

You'll be so glad...

...that you came to stay at Herb Cottage. Not an exaggeration to say that it's a magical place. Set in a gorgeous, quiet, woodland neighborhood that is a quick walk from the lively Woodstock downtown, it's perfect for a solo retreat or a couple's get-away (which was our situation). It has everything you need for a restorative, comforting stay and feels like an actual home, not a rental unit. Powerful woodstove warmed up our mornings. Big comfortable bed in the loft. Wonderful collection of books tucked in everywhere as well as a huge array of throw-back BluRay video disks for the TV. Loved everything about it. Wish we could have stayed for a week!

The Joy of Herb Cottage.

My beloved and I just spent 4 unforgettable and wonderful days at Herb Cottage! We would have happily stayed for weeks. Judy's place is a peaceful haven and is a true gem. Very cosy, comfortable and heartwarming. Her assistant Chelsea went above and beyond to make sure every aspect of our stay went well. It was all brilliantly organized and free of any stress or concerns. We are deeply grateful for such a joyful experience.

Great cottage steeped in local history

Cozy Mountain Getaway

Lovely historic and charming cottage.

The property was very pretty and full of character. We were warm with the stove and heating and found the chairs and sofa extremely comfortable. It was within easy walking distance from the town. We were very happy with our choice and it was a perfect break from the stresses of New York!

Great Stay at The Herb Cottage

It was truly a pleasure to stay not only in a cute and quaint cottage but at a part of Woodstock history. Check in was a breeze and the place was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable week long stay. During the day we hiked, explored Woodstock and other nearby towns and ate at many of the great restaurants. At night it was sitting in front of the fire watching a movie, playing games or reading a book all supplied by the proprietors. On warmer nights the outdoor chairs were a comfortable spot to look at the amazing sky and listen to the nearby stream. An added bonus was the lilacs were in bloom. (my favorite) We highly recommend staying at this cottage and exploring Woodstock and all that the Catskills have to offer!
