“If you are not good at climbing stairs, or if you are carrying 2 or 3 suitcase with you, never book a room at 1st floor . My experience is that, after I have brought the suitcase up the narrow and winding staircase, I need to take a two-hour rest before I can have the courage to think about going out. Other than that, the hotel is comfortable.”
“Great place. The guy at check in was brilliant. Had salmon and king scallops for tea and was beautiful. The Missus enjoyed her fish n chips. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we’ve had and the lady got us in early cos we had somewhere to go. Couldn’t do enough for us. Will go again 100%”
“The location is good as well as the service. The breakfast is really tastey. The lady who served our breakfast is really nice and even made me a takeway breakfast when I told her my train would be very early and would miss the breakfast. ”
“I ordered the Sunday Lunch which was very good and loads of it washed down with a very nice and reasonable bottle of Portugese Wine.
The only strange part was going to the bar to order and pay for it up front and then asked if you wanted to leave a tip before you had been served anything and did not know if the service was going to be any good which was very strange - I feel sorry for the staff as I declined the tip upfront but then had no cash with me to make my usual 10% tip after I finished……
“I really enjoyed my stay at Ashbourne House! The room was very comfortable and bright, with all the amenities I needed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great too -- a lovely walk along the river away from the bustling city centre. ”
"clear and comfortable room, but the shower not user friendly, the shower head is too close to the wall, you need to stand very close to the wall to wash"
