COVID-19 may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't shut down our desire to explore. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Before locking in your flight, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking government and travel websites.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
• To reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA agent.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• Empty everything from your pocket, like your wallet, coins and keys, and place them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food through the screening checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
