“This was our first visit to Morocco and we wanted to be in the medina. We loved this hotel! The staff was very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. Medina - Chefchaouen, Morocco It is known for the blue washed walls and doorways in the old city. Narrow alleys, cobbled walkways, stairs up and down, leading in all directions. Chefchaouen's powder blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky - but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread with tekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God's power. The tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings. The walls are adorned with carpets, purses, blankets, paintings and much more. It was quite an adventure to get lost in the tiny lanes and alleys and discover the many berber shops and products. #FindingtheUniverse
