This property was labeled as a new listing so I knew it could be a risk renting without any reviews. Here were my takeaways from our 4 night stay.
Pros:
- Large wrap around deck with views of the hilly countryside.
- Bright and open with lots of space
- Kitchen has plenty of cookware, dishes, utensils, etc.
- Comfortable beds
- Hot tub was clean and had a service ticket attached from the day before our stay.
- Very quiet neighborhood
- Keurig and standard coffee pot in kitchen
- Clean bathrooms
- Lots of activities available right on the property. A nice getaway during the pandemic.
- Streaming devices available on the TVs throughout the house.
- Wood burning fireplace in the main living area.
Cons:
- When we arrived, there were TONS of dead flies all over the floor by the large main windows and the bedrooms. There were even flies on a couple of the beds. It really grossed us out and it was especially annoying to have to clean all of that up after a long drive. There were some live ones flying around the large windows and outside during the day so it seems like an exterminator needs to be called.
- No firewood for the fire pit or fireplace. Listing did not indicate we needed to provide our own.
- We could not get the Bluetooth sound system in the house to work.
- Pinball machine in the carriage house was only partially functioning so it wasn’t really playable.
- Some of the light bulbs inside the house and outside seemed to be burnt out or partially working.
- Not really a con but there are other houses around so if you’re looking for something totally secluded, this probably isn’t a great fit.
Tips:
- Bring your own seasonings, cooking oils, plastic wrap/foil, containers for leftovers, and coffee
- Bring some lanterns if you plan to use the fire pit or walk between the main house and the carriage house at night.
- Bring firewood if you want to use the fire pit or wood burning fireplace.
