  • Our beautiful Cretan House set in the beautiful countryside of Mavrikiano overlooking the breathtaking views of the Mirabello Bay would be a perfect choice of holiday for our guests. Villa Bougainvillea is set in its own private grounds and is equipped with everything to make our guests happy and offer hassle free holidays. From Villa Bougainvillea is a 400 metre walk to the local shops, taverna’s, blue flag beaches and sea in the local village of Elounda. Beyond Elounda is the unspoilt fishing village of Plaka from where you can take a boat trip to the island of Spinalonga used as a leper colony up to 1957. Also on your doorstep is the lively harbour of Agios Nikolaos which boasts both excellent restaurants, tavernas along with sophisticated shops and waterside cafés. We can arrange luxury taxi transfers to and from the airport along with flexible car hire at competitive rates.

Great property in a nice quiet elevated position with lovely sea views. Very fast and effective resolution of a small plumbing issue by the local host, who was responsive and easy to communicate with. The villa was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It’s about 800m from the main village of Elounda, with a fairly steep hill on the return—something to bear in mind—but it adds to the peaceful setting and views. Would happily recommend.

Lovely property, great destination

We really enjoyed staying here. The property was very well kept and clean and had everything we needed. The view over Elounda and the bay is stunning. The centre of the village is only a 15 minute walk away, if that. Really good communication from the host and she was kind enough to book airport taxis for us. Hope to visit again.

Such a relaxing delightful!

Our stay was phenomenal. The property is exactly as described. It was incredibly relaxing. We enjoyed all the comfortable seating, access to a pool at the end of a hot walk up the hill and it was easy access to town but far enough to feel like you’re still away. It was so relaxing that when we headed next to Santorini, we felt the jolt. We used the kitchen for two meals a day and it was well appointed for our needs. This is a wonderful place to stay with great communication with hosts! I’d move in if I could!

Beautiful and Peaceful

The villa is perfectly located just outside Elounda. It was quiet but walking distance to the town. There are three amazing restaurants about a five minute walk from the villa. The views are spectacular. I could have stayed another week. After 6 days in Elounda and this villa, I feel very calm and rested.

Beautiful villa, amazing view

Although the drive up to the top where the villa is located is a little daunting at first once you've done it a few times you get used to it. The villa is beautiful on the outside and once you open the shutters for the first time you are greated with stunning views of Elounda and the bay.We would love to come back again in the future.

Fabulous, everything we needed and more. Sharron could not have been more accommodating and the villa was lovely, clean and well equipped. The views were amazing, lots of choice for beaches, shopping and eating out and was easy to get about. Highly recommended.

Perfect stay in Elounda!

A perfect villa, absolutely immaculate through out. It looks like new, and the pool was very clean. Loved the location, the views are simply fantastic, but that does mean a hill to walk up! The local tavernas and pub are great if you don’t want to walk into the village. Lots of taxis if you don’t fancy the walk back. We loved it, and would go again in a heartbeat.

Worth the climb

What an ideal place to relax and step of our busy lives. We loved the Villa and all the touches that made it feel luxurious and homely. What added to it was the excellent communication with Sharron who made our stay seamless. Quite an up hill walk from the centre but doable, even in the heat, and worth it with what must be one of the best views in Elounda! Would love to return

Lovely Home from Home Villa

We had a lovely peaceful stay at Villa Bouganvillea situated in Mavrikiano which is very close to Elounda. The Villa is spotlessly clean and very comfortable and is equipped with everything you would need. Our biggest praise has to go to our host, Sharron who made the whole experience completely stress free and literally arranged everything we needed such as transfers, car hire and local recommendations etc… We couldn’t have expected any more from her and it was a real pleasure to meet up with Sharron’s mum at the Lena apartments at the end of our stay. We hope to definitely return one day and wouldn’t hesitate in staying at Sharron’s lovely villa again.

Outstanding Stay

My husband and I wanted to show my best friend and her husband the beauty of Greece since they had never been. We were all amazed at how perfect the villa was-beautiful layout, amazing pool, and spectacular views from any point inside and outside the villa. Our 10-day stay couldn't have been more perfect. The convenient location enabled us to visit other towns and local attractions (I highly recommend the Cretan Olive Oil Farm) as well to enjoy quiet time at the villa. Sharron was wonderful and easy to reach. She called me personally to ensure we had all the check-in information, which impressed me greatly, and scheduled a meet-and-greet with Maria and Richard who maintain the villa. We felt so welcome. There is no hesitation on our part about returning to this jewel. Thank you Sharron, Maria, and Richard for making our trip perfect.

Beautiful oasis

This villa sits just outside of the resort town of Elounda, which offers all of the restaurants and beauty of the town, as well as its own charming neighborhood and restaurant. The villa itself is beautiful and well maintained. Don't miss the delightful walking street in Mavrikiano, as well as the Hope Restaurant. Others have commented on the steep hill. There is, however, a shortcut to town down some stairs in Mavrikiano. We stayed just after the tourist season, in early November, which meant that a number of restaurants and activities were closed for the season. The tradeoff is that we were able to experience more of the local flavor, without the chaos of the high crowds. We were still able to visit all of the sights that interested us, and enjoy the serenity of the area and of the island. We will definitely return.

Perfect stay in Elounda!The villa was as described, it was spacious, clean and with the most perfect view. Kitchen was well stocked, everythintlg you need for self catering, bbq provided.Pool was great, it was cleaned regularly early morning. Location was perfect, quiet and so peaceful just what we wanted. Close enough to walk into Elounda center, plenty of gorgeous restaurants. The villa is located uphill. So be prepared if walking, we managed just with a couple of breaks (nighttime was easier. Less hot!) Regardless we couldn't have asked for better. Communication with Adrian was great, he recommended a lovely family run taxi service. Elounda is such a lovely place, we were incredibly sad to leave this beautiful villa and place. We cant thank Adrian enough for allowing us to holiday here, their place is truly perfect. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back! X

Another fantastic holiday at the Bouganvillea.

The Bouganvillea was everything the brochure had promised and more and we weren't disappointed in our second visit here, The villa is pure luxury so peaceful, with the most amazing view to wake up to every morning. It had everything we needed to make our stay an amazing experience. We have been coming to Elounda for many years we love the village life, beautiful beaches,amazing weather, fantastic food, friendly people i could go on and on! Thanks to Sharron, Adrian and Rose the housekeeper we will keep coming back for more year after year.

Excellent villa in wonderful location

Fantastic view of the bay of Elounda from a modern and clean villa with all you need, including sufficient poolside privacy. 10 minute walk down into the centre of Elounda, 2 minute walk to local taverna and restaurant with spectacular vista. Had no need to trouble the owners, but they maintained sufficient contact to ensure that we were OK. Crete is our favourite island. This is the best villa we have found. We have booked this villa for next year already....

Stunning view

The property is ideally located close to everything, but a short walk up the hill which allows the most stunning view across the bay. Two local restaurants/ bars Hope & Beeraki are perfect just a 5 min walk away. Many choices of restaurants around the bay and a lovely beach with beds and shade. The pool was ideal to chill by on hot days and the villa is very well equipped with everything we needed. Sharron was great responding to queries really quickly, and it’s obvious they really care for the property as they use it themselves and that really makes the difference with lovely personal touches in the decor.

Fantastic villa with everything you need to be comfortable. Wonderful peaceful location up a hill in the village. Take a stroll down to the little local taverna half way down the road & feel a million miles away from everything. Can't fault the villa & Sharron & Adrian are very helpful. We are definitely going back as it turned out to be one of our favourite places. Flexible checkout date is extremely helpful as it enables long breaks as well as longer holidays. The hill up to the villa keeps you fit! Well done S & A

Villa Bouganvilliea Mavrikiano Alounda Crete

,My wife and I have just returned from seven wonderful nights in Villa Bouganilliea it is very clean and was equipped with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The pool area is great with stunning views of Alounda and the sea. On arrival we were met by Lynn the housekeeper who was very friendly and made us really welcome. The walk down to the harbour through Mavrikiano past the Hope Taverna highly recommended try it only took ten minutes and only fifteen minutes back along the sea front and up the hill. Elounda has a pretty harbour with loads of places to eat or just to have a drink. We would like to thank Sharron who was great and very helpful and kept in touch with us throughout our booking and up to the week of our departure. Brian and Angela

Wonderful Stay!!!!

Villa Bougainvillea is just the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. It was absolutely spotless when we arrived and is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday and more. It is located in a very quiet and peaceful location with the views towards the sea and Elounda just breathtaking. A fantastic pool with sun beds and umberellas. Table and chairs for outside eating and a lounge seating area to relax with a drink and enjoy the view. It was so lovely to receive a telephone call from Sharron prior to our arrival which my husband and I thought was a very personal touch and was very much appreciated along with an email with recommendations for restaurants etc. Sharron very kindly booked the Ferryman restaurant in Elounda that we wanted to go to celebrate our wedding anniversary during our stay. Thank you so much we had a wonderful evening and were made to feel very special! I cannot recommend Villa Bougainvillea enough along with Sharron and Adrian as hosts.

Lovely villa and holiday destination

The property was spotless, beautifully furnished and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Eagle Car hire from the airport, arranged by Sharron, went smoothly, and the rep went out of his way to help us, escorting us right to the door of the villa. The views from the villa are truly spectacular in all weathers. We were very late in the season (end Oct) but there were still plenty of tavernas and restaurants open down in Elounda. A special mention goes to the Hope Taverna just down the road for its lovely views, warm welcome and good food. We had a great time exploring the local area on foot, driving through the mountain villages, and going further afield visiting Knossos and the archaelogical museum in Heraklion (wow! not to be missed), and the south coast of Crete. Sharron, the property owner, was available via email or phone to help us throughout and Kenny was also on hand locally should any practical problems occur (they didn't). All in all a really enjoyable holiday. Thank you Sharron.

Idyllic restful holiday with a view

The listing description was extremely accurate and both bedrooms are spacious, although the beds a little hard. The property was immaculate being clean and well-maintained - the villa spotless and the pool cleaned twice a week. The customer service could not be bettered (thanks Sharron) and Eagle Car rental they recommended was flawless. Nice to be met by housekeeper Lynn to guide us in. We are considering re-visiting next year so certainly would recommend. The view from the villa was superb the downside being the steep climb up from Elounda - tough after a few beers but therapeutic! The Poulis was our favourite restaurant and also liked Ariadne and the nearer Despina and Kyanoti. Vritomartes on the harbour front the food was fine but slow and poor service with starters and mains served together then the rolls which we were charged for but didn't order dumped on table after we'd finished! You have to go to Spinalonga of course but they demolished lots of it in the 1970s so not much left to see. Plaka is nice and Sithia worth a trip but mostly we just chilled out!
