The location of the property is great close to everything. The building is a typical Dutch canal house complete with all it’s charms and quirks. The real difference is the host David who is a real pleasure and very kind. Also, unlike just about any other room I’ve stayed in, he makes a point to replenish anything in the room that has been used each day, from a coffee pod to waffles to fresh fruit. It was truly a delight.
We had a great experience. We loved the place and the service.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Loved it here. The room had everything we needed and then some. So near the city centre hairdryer, straighteners, shower gel, microwave, fridge and even a magical replenishment fairy. My only drawback was the steep spiral staircase which is not for the faint hearted especially if uve been out for a drink or 2 apart from that is was a lovely B&B
David was an excellent host who communicated effectively both prior and during our stay. The room was well equipped and very clean. The location is central and all the major attractions are walkable. We would highly recommend Tulip of Amsterdam
David and his college could not do enough for us during our stay. The room was comfortable along with after snack and beer! Perfect for the centre of Amsterdam and the cats are lovely too. Would recommend.
The owner David and staff Mary went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. They have thought of everything, the rooms were complete with everything from spare razors, toothbrushes, travel adaptors and paracetamol.
Beds are super comfy. Netflix on TV with their own account so no can just fire it up and relax. Complimentary snacks and drinks are topped up daily which was awesome.
Im forgetting many things I'm sure but the bottom line is I've never seen such attention to detail and care in a BnB before.
Thanks David and thanks Mary. We will be back.
Our hosts were so nice, and our room was charming, clean, and well-stocked with goodies. The common areas were also lovely, and the location was great—in the historic part of the city and within easy waddling distance from Centraal. We plan to return!
Amazing place to stay in Amsterdam! Very central location. Clean and beautiful room! David was very helpful with tips about the city. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam!
Beautiful quirky old house in a fantastic location. Just a few rooms. Quiet and comfortable with friendly helpful owners. We would love to visit again!
Great location, great host, very clean bnb, we loved our stay here. The location was perfect, it’s only a few minute walk to the red light district, and it’s right next to a metro and also very close to Amsterdam central station. The room was very clean, and it was kept clean throughout our entire trip. Overall I give this place 5 stars I would recommend the tulip to anyone who is looking to stay in Amsterdam.
David is an excellent host who responded quickly to our need for a room due to an unexpected layover.
The House from the 1600s is located next to a canal is near all the action but it it quiet and safe.
The traditional room was clean and funky with some beers and chocolates included.
A fantastic short stay !
We really enjoyed our Stay. Clean room and amazing Staff there.
Its right in the middle of the City, so we only had to walk at max. 20min to get somewhere by foot.
The stairs are a bit steep but the Room is worth the climb.
Will definetly book again here!
The property was amazing very close to popular areas and many restaurants and convenience stores within feet. David and Chris very professional and polite. They gave us lots of notes and guidance. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again
Our stay at the Tulip could not have been better! The location was convenient to EVERYTHING! David was the perfect host. The room was great. Service every day and replenished free water, snacks, fruit, etc…We love staying at BnB’s that are reflective of the area and culture. This is an original old Amsterdam home on a canal and just what we were looking for. The stairs in the old homes are narrow and David carried our luggage for us. We’re no spring chickens so this was essential. Recommendations for restaurants, stores, and services was extremely helpful. Book this…you’ll be glad you did!
This property was centrally located so that everything in Amsterdam was a short walk away. The host David was so welcoming! The stairs getting to the rooms are no joke, but I knew that going in. Some reviewers have complained about them but Davids's property description is straightforward and indicates the property is not handicap accessible so do your homework and don't underestimate it. Our stay was wonderful, and we would absolutely book here again.
Very good location. We went all attractions by walk during stays in Amsterdam. Many restaurants nearby. The house is amazing that it's a historical building. Just need to concern about no elevator and the bathroom is a bit small. House owners David and Chris are very nice. Thank you for everything!
Tulip was definitely a unique place to stay! The room was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. The fresh fruit and snacks were really nice warm welcome. Tulip in a great safe neighborhood, with walking distance to everything we needed it. David was an amazing host! Very friendly, professional and very helpful. We definitely appreciate all your help with everything David!!
Thanks again,
Mona
The most unique thing about the property, were the wonderful hosts David and Chris. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating- David
even carried our luggage up to our room via a very old, 16th century (I believe), narrow set of stairs, and then back down again the morning of our departure.
The room was exceptionally clean, quiet and also provided housekeeping on a daily basis. This included replenishing not only standard supplies but also the treats, was so very appreciated.
Thank you David and Chris for your amazing hosting skills and attention to detail. You made us feel so very welcome in your beautiful city. We will definitely recommend Tulip of Amsterdam to anyone visiting your beautiful city!

Cozy, clean and comfy - perfect location! We stayed in the Green Tulip Room located on the second floor via a narrow circular stair case (typical for Amsterdam) The rooms are located at the back of the house which is generally very quiet however, neighbors in business next door are somewhat loud in the morning. Room is exactly as shown in the photos Wi-Fi, bathroom small but very clean, small refrig, cute microwave & espresso machine. If you get this room at times you might hear the neighbors upstairs. The location of the property is perfect. We walked everywhere and even to the furtherest museums. The Canal runs in front of the property but unfortunately, it is not visible from the rooms. David, was extremely nice! He gave us tips to get around the city and our room was cleaned everyday. I highly recommend this B&B. Thank you David for making our stay wonderful & give Heidi a pat from us.
Tulip of Amsterdam
I know these reviews are meant to be short, but I need to take some time here.
First, if I could give Tulip of Amsterdam 15 stars, I would. David and Jeremy made everything perfect—and that’s not an exaggeration! Responsive to the few questions we had (they made sure most everything was in place), the two obviously take pride in what they do.
This was our first time in Amsterdam and we didn’t want a ‘regular’ hotel room. Some travelers may think the two (yes, there are only two) rooms are kind of ‘kitschy’ but we wanted something that reflected the area we traveled—not what we could find near home.
The room was comfortable and cozy. We were very appreciative of the amenities and that we were invited to use the full kitchen/common area. The room we were in was at the top of the stairs (don’t be intimidated! but plan to not rush up or down them). It was toward the back of the building and that was wonderful because we had no street/canal noise. We would open a small window and hear the chiming of the church bells on the hour.
The location is also a plus. Once we got our bearings, we were a 10-minute walk to Centraal Station, close to metro/tram lines (handy for the Rijksmuseum) and restaurants/markets everywhere!
If you are planning a ‘first trip’ to Amsterdam, staying at the Tulip of Amsterdam is a must! I know we would look to staying here on our ‘next’ trip…if we are so lucky!
