If you are looking for a secluded getaway located in close proximity to local amenities, this is the place. My wife and I, along with our 2 year old son, stayed here for a few nights.
PROS:
-If you are a soft bed person, which we are, this king sized bed is the softest bed we have ever had on any trip we have ever taken. SO SOFT AND SO NICE!
-Robin is literally the worlds greatest VRBO host. No other experience could convince me otherwise. This place is outfitted with everything you could possibly need. From natural detergents and soaps, a weeks supply of coffee, condiments in the fridge, highchair/pack and play for the kids, kindling for the fire pit, etc. There is a long list of over the top positive things about this place. It really seems like Robin has this place set up for her personal guests to enjoy... and that is not something you find with most VRBO's.
-Mike explained how the house is made of solid concrete (which is just pretty cool in general). This aids in keeping the house cool but not cold. It also has a rockin' HVAC system, which is not always the case with Michigan vacation rentals.
-Owners have cut trails through the property that allow guests to explore the woods and wildlife.
-Property is very quiet in the evenings and at night.
-When we arrived there was a jar of honey and maple syrup on the counter. Both produced on the farm. Also got the chance to try their fresh strawberry jam (so freaking good).
THE ONLY POSSIBLE CONS:
-Floors are polished concrete so they are very slick when they are wet. So our son fell several times after bath time. He's 2 though... so he's probably going to fall no matter what.
-It's a guest house with a workshop under the unit. It's a working farm, so there can be quite a bit of noise from work that is going on in the shop. This happened several times in short durations and really wasn't a big deal to us.
-You have to leave eventually and that sucks.
All in all, Robin/Mike and their family are great people and great Americans. This place is where you want to stay. We plan on eventually coming back to stay again and bring a few other people with us.
**If you do stay, make sure to ask Robin and Mike for their local recommendations. The told us where the locals go to eat, where they go for ice cream, and where they go to pick strawberries. We tried all of their recommendations and really changed our trip for the better. Were able to stay away from the tourist traps.**
