Quiet Austin location

My family enjoyed our stay at this quiet Austin location. Easy access to freeways supported both city adventures and nature treks. There’s even a Torchy’s nearby for an authentic taste of Texmex.

Great Stay

I booked this for my mother and grandmother to visit. We all had a great time cooking, playing games and having happy hour on the patio. The location is perfect and parking in the ally was super easy

Quiet and Restful

The house was spacious clean and had what one would need.. many near by locations if one needs anything special.. communication is quick.. would stay here again.. Thank you for a wonderful get away..

Nice place in fine location

Our 4 night stay during a June heat wave was very good. The A/C worked well, the house was very clean and well-equipped. Pre-arrival info was very helpful.

Booked for three days, left first day....Never did it say it is a duplex not a home. Would have never booked if I knew it was a duplex. Wanted privacy on this trip and definitely did not feel I received. Felt unsafe to leave my truck out in this neighborhood and parking is in a back alley (back of home), couldn't sleep so we left that same day we got there.

I hate giving bad reviews.

As we drove in, my husband shakily laughed and made a joke about how we might get shot, just by being in this area of town. Guys. Not good. It seemed to be a generally family area, but kinda run down. My husband immediately turned to our teenage cross country boys and informed them they wouldn’t be allowed to go running in this neighborhood while we were there. The overgrown bush above the swinging gate attacked me as I went through the gate. The lawn looked overdue to be mowed. The inside was generally clean, but in lots of areas run-down with shoddy attempts to “just paint over it.” The sliding door was caked with guck in the tracks. The awning above the sliding door outside is ripped and tattered. We have teenagers who refuse to share a blanket, let alone a bed. When we asked the property manager if we could get an extra blanket, his/her response was “just turn the AC to a less chilly setting.” Highly unhelpful. My husband kept saying the property itself “isn’t that bad.” In some ways he’s right. We’ve stayed in a couple of places worse than this one. I just hope to never stay here again. We didn’t hear a peep out of the neighbors that we shared a wall with, which surprised me. I try to be honest about my reviews, but of course we’re all biased. It’s good to have VRBOs in ALL price ranges for those who can’t afford better, but people should know what they’re signing up for so it doesn’t ruin someone’s vacation.

An Average Stay

Our family of four recently stayed in this apartment for a week. It was located in the same neighborhood as family we were visiting, so it was convenient. The apartment overall served us well while we were there, but we would rate this as one of our more average stays, not a 5 star experience. Here are details about our stay: Positives: -We communicated primarily with Nathan, one of the owners. He was personable and responsive. We were glad to have him as our landlord. During time of check-out he asked us what could have been better about the place and was very receptive way to our feedback. We believe him when he says he addressed the issues we experienced below (but still wanted to articulate them for future travelers considering this property). -Overall, the living space was clean. -Nathan sent us a manual about the place which was very helpful. -The A/C was great. -The keyless entry was easy. -Washer, dryer and dishwasher were very helpful. -We liked the massage bed. -We enjoyed use of the internet and Roku/Netflix Not so great: -There were some cockroaches present. While not all over the place, we found them in various parts of the apartment during our stay. -The spaces that were not in direct view were dirty. Our kids lost cards under the beds and sofas and there was a layer of dust, as well as dead bugs when we went to retrieve them. -While we were there, we quickly identified a hornets nest right near the entry door outside. We reported this immediately and Nathan was super prompt in responding and spraying. However, the treatment took a while to work so we were constantly ushering our children to and from the house, and spent almost two hours trying to swat one down when it accidentally came into the house. This was scary for our kids, made it unable for us to use the outside porch, and was frankly just not how we wanted to spend our time in Austin. -We appreciated that the place had dishes and pans stocked. However, for a family of four, we were constantly needing to wash the dishes in order to have them ready for the next meal. It would have been nice to have a more fully stocked kitchen so we didn’t have to do that as often. Nathan really was a nice guy, and we truly don’t mean to hamper his ability to rent his apartment with this review. However, as travelers, this was information we would have liked to have known before booking, so we posted. We truly wish them the best of luck moving forward.

Amazing apartment

This apartment is close enough to downtown, yet far away enough to enjoy your own space. The master bedroom was SO COMFORTABLE. Honestly better than any hotel I’ve stayed at. Definitely recommend.

Quiet and comfortable home away from home

Awesome place to stay!

My family enjoyed this little duplex in South Austin! We had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. The hosts are so friendly and make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. Check-in was so easy! We will definitely be looking to stay here again when we visit family!
