I have been coming to Bald Head Island for over 25 years and this was the second time I have rented with BHI Services. First, I would like to say that I made a mistake by booking this house. I was unaware that BHI Services was the rental company that serviced the property, and if I had known, I would not have even considered the house. This was not my first experience in one of their properties, but it is certainly my last. When my family and I arrived, we immediately did as much surface sanitation as possible, due to COVID-19, but we soon discovered bigger sanitation problems within the house; when we walked inside the house for the first time, there were visible food scraps on the floor from previous renters; when we opened the fridge, there were leftover, half eaten food containers inside; and after sanitizing the bathrooms thoroughly, there was still dirt, filth, and hair on the sinks and in the showers and bathtubs. Furthermore, because of a lack of adequate tools, I had to buy a new vacuum from the store, and after I vacuumed the floors and carpets one time, there was a bucket's worth of dirt and dust accumulated inside. Overall, I spent over 200 dollars on cleaning supplies for the house, and put in over 6 hours of work with my family to get it to a basic level of sanitation. In general and especially during the coronavirus, I had expected a higher level of sanitation, and what my family and I had to deal with was unacceptable. I have photos of the bags of dirt that came up in the vacuum cleaner— unbelievable. I had a previous experience with this company (different rental) last year. House was filthy. Renter beware!
