Booked our night with Expedia and received a confirmation from then arrived at the hotel to be told that the hotel was closed and they hadn't received any booking very annoyed but very thankful the owner was about and opened up 2 rooms for us...He was very helpful and kind to do so while he has no staff there and included him cooking breakfast the next morning for us...my gripe would be with expedia here ...

Hit and miss...
Strangely for a key service industry, every bona fide customer enquiry gave rise to a litany of service supplier problems endured by the owner. Contrary to the marketing blurb, there was no wifi in the bedroom and it was not dependable even in the lobby. Multi channels were promised also but there was no signal and/or decent picture except for two stations. Eventually, on suggesting that one could be relocated from one of the many unoccupied rooms, we were provided with the plug for our bath. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very good but no other meals were available. Bar was serviced by owner in the evening in between covering reception. The Halcyon spa had never actually opened. At check out, the card machine was not working so we were despatched to an ATM at the local petrol station.

No bar.No restaurant. Damp smell throughout the hotel. All fire doors propped open with wedges. 3 staff running the whole place. Lawn at front of hotel not cut, windows filthy. Beautiful place for hotel, looking over the ocean and thatched cottages nearby.Could be making an absolute mint if run properly...

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for staying with us in the Burren Atlantic. If I may I must disagree with you about the cleanliness of your room. Your room was not dirty, could not possibly be dirty and it is very unfair of you to make such a very serious off-putting statement for prospective future guests to read. As to your hot water comment, I remember you as having checked in early in the afternoon and i accept that the hot water had not reached the optimum temperature when your wife decided to shower, I apologize for this but had she waited, as I hope she did, for a half hour the water would have been fully hot. Regards,

We booked a room for 2 adults and a child (16). When we arrived we were told that we only booked for 2 adults despite our email stating 2 adults and a child. The receptionist tried to charge us an extra 25 euro to include our daughter and then remarked that they only regard people under 12 as children and we were 'lucky' to get the room. We refused to pay the extra money as it was no fault of our own. The three of us shared a room with my wife and daughter taking the bed while I slept on the floor. The room itself was damp and had a strange odour. The bathroom was overrun with water when we used the shower. The breakfast on offer was terrible and we decided to eat locally instead. Very poor service.

A bit disapointing
est part of visit was the breakfast and the woman on the reception desk. Our bedroom had the following faults. 1.Could not take a shower as the water was boiling. No amount of regulation solved that problem. This was an important fault as I needed a shower after a cycle of 135k 2. Could not read in the room as there was insufficient light. had to go downstairs to read. 3.Telephone was dead. 4. No safe in room

Very nice
Lovely one night stay in Burren Atlantic Hotel which is located close to Monks Bar and Restaurant. Lovely rooms and bathroom. We had dinner that night and it was very tasty. Apple crumble was the nicest I have ever had and we were served by a lovely waitress. Breakfast was freshly cooked and perfect. I would recommend this Hotel.

Mr. Colm, Thank you for choosing the Burren Atlantic and we are very sorry and disturbed that our breakfast and its service was not to your satisfaction. In fact we have always been very proud of our freshly cooked breakfasts each prepared to the guests requirements. Our buffet which offers juice, porridge, 4 types of cereals, yogurts, fruit salad and fresh scones is where each breakfast begins while we take and prepare the order for the cooked breakfast. If our system failed you we do apologise and we will most certainly strive to try harder.

The hotel has a great location in the Burrens and has an affordable price. Check in was brief and not very welcoming. They said they had us booked for two rooms, but after showing them my Expedia reservation they just shrugged it off. The room was spacious, but had cobwebs in the corner and the shower curtain fell randomly in the middle of the night. Breakfast isn’t served till 8:00 and that isn’t posted anywhere. We were up early to get a start to our day and headed down to breakfast at 7:45. The lights in the restaurant were off and the door was locked. There was another couple waiting who was also confused. We ended up leaving at 7:50 and had breakfast at McDonalds. We asked the desk later that night and he said, “Breakfast is served from 8:00-10:00. Is that alright with you?” Mixed feelings on this place. Would have stayed somewhere different if everything wasn’t booked.

Thanks for your feedback and i'm very sorry you weren't informed on check in of our regular breakfast hours. All our staff have been briefed to make sure guests have that information on checkin. We don't often have complaints about room hygeine - rather the opposite! But we do encourage guests to report any issues immediately and we will endeavour to make sure the room is to your satisfaction and our usual standards. We hope to see you again in the future.

A booking messed up by management - try to avoid
Unfortunately the management of this hotel caused us a lot of stress and problems on the arrival when they told us that they "made a mistake" of mixing up our booking: I have booked 3 rooms for 6 people in total for one night and they changed one of the rooms for two days later. So we arrived with friends, family, including a five year old and was told that we only have two rooms. The owner of the hotel talked to me in an awful manner, he was insulting, patronizing, refused to understand that there is a problem and insisted that his solution of us moving into a self catering house on the site is relevant and I should be happy with this fantastic solution. The fact that we never wanted or booked a self catering house was totally dismissed, and it took lengthy arguments with this rude manager/owner to get 17% of discount - he wanted to charge € 390 for 1 night in the self catering house (off main season!!) - the same as the three hotel rooms. The argument was terrible and I nearly called the police to help to sort out this situation. So my advice is to avoid this place if you can!! Such a shame as this is a truly beautiful part of Ireland, we have visited a number of times before and never encountered any problems even similar to this. Generally people are very friendly and will make sure that you have a happy and memorable stay in their hotels and BBs in this unique region, only this place seems to be run so badly and mismanaged.

Under-staffed and overpriced.
On arrival we were greeted with an odious smell in the reception area and a queue of guests waiting to be checked-in. The male receptionist (who appeared to do mostly everything else in the hotel) had no idea which rooms had been allocated because of an IT failure. This took some 40 minutes to resolve whilst we waited and waited and... There was no offer of refreshment and barely an apology. When we finally got to the room, there were no towels and the "receptionist" had to fetch them. The wifi didn't not work and the room television wasn't great. Our sense was that the hotel was run on a skeleton staff and, as a result, much of the attention to detail was being missed. We wouldn't recommend this hotel and will certainly not return

Lovely views of Sea and Burren
Kevin, the hotel owner is simply amazing. He is attentive and friendly without being overbearing. You can tell he takes pride in the Hotel and making sure that all of the guests have a good experience. The housekeeping staff is friendly and very helpful. The Chief is very accommodating and cooks a very good Full Irish Breakfast. The room was large, recently updated and spotless. The linens and bedding are very comfortable. Our view of the Burren was fantastic. The hotel is in a beautiful village nestled between the sea and the Burren. For a small village there are quite a few shopping and dining options and a fantastic visitor center. We stayed at the Burren Atlantic for 8 nights and traveled all over County Clare from there. Driving near the hotel is not congested which makes for a lovely drive and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The top of corkscrew hill offers some of the best views in the area. The best vacation my husband and I have ever had by far.

Well worth the stay!
The burden Atlantic was well worth the price. Hotel was easy to find, Service was good, they had a nice bar with live music which was a lot of fun. Check in/ Check out process was easy. Breakfast was very good in the morning. Only minor issue was the couple in the next room was extremely loud and you could hear everything which didn't make sleeping easy. I would definitely stay again abbr recommend to others. Lots of local attractions...ailwee cave, castles and the cliffs of moher!

Thanks for a great time!
We were here in the off season and the place seemed empty. We had a very warm welcome and fantastic experience with the hotel staff. A very kindly older gentleman was very accommodating and opened the bar for us and three other guests, we had a great time sharing stories and listening to Michael Jackson! I can imagine this being a great place to holiday in the summer. We also had very easy access to the top of the Burren natural park.

Its was booked out on arrival
We were totally disappointed, after receiving a confirmation from Expedia the room was booked credit card debited we were happy to keep sight seeing until 9.00 pm, check-in closes at 10.00 pm so heaps of time. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they were totally booked out, we showed them our confirmation and they said "Sorry were having problems with our new system" We were given a apartment up the road, not the hotel or services we had booked or expected but we did at least have somewhere to stay. No partial refund. All i can say is don't risk it.

Great town, ok place to stay
The facility is relatively new. I was there in August, mid-week. The price was fine, and frankly I did not have great expectations. But I was there for two nights and the room was not touched during the day between nights (I was away for about twelve hours, so there was plenty of time to attend to room). But bed was not made, bathroom not touched, towels were where I left them. Decor--an effort has been made, but the results are not pleasing or tasteful. Room is very dark, and shades on reading lights don't fit and are dark red, meaning there isn't enough light to read in bed. Tried to tip it up, but it was large and the lamp was very close to the wall. Bottom line, reading in bed was next to impossible. Sheets are polyester blend, which is not surprising for rural Ireland, but is not great for a new hotel trying to make a dent in an established market. Hotel has a nice view of the water from the front, but despite being nearly empty, they put me on the back side of the building where my view was of a grass bank. It was advertised as a mountain view, but there was NO view of a mountain--just a grassy hill about 8 feet from the window. Location is good--there are places to eat within walking distance, or you can drive into town if you have a car. Bishop's Quarter beach is less than a mile away, so you can walk to that. I'll come back to this location, but will look for other accommodation.

Disappointed
This stay was very disappointing. For most of the time there was no one at reception - we had to wait for approx. Half an hour before someone came through and then she had to find the 'owner'. Information was very hard to come by. Wifi was only avaiable downstairs in the public area and then the password was apparently a closely kept secret. We managed to find it from another guest who had photographed it on his phone. Breakfast was meagre - three cereals were available with milk but no fruit or yoghurt nor jam for toast. A cooked breakfast was available but was ordinary.
