Our stay at this VRBO property was well-aligned with our expectations! Terrible

The host never sent us the access code to get into the house, so we never were able to stay. Tried contacting him numerous times through messages and phone calls on our 6 hour drive there with no response. There was 1 room available at the lodge that night that we were able to get. There was nothing available the next night due to the event we were there for, but luckily we knew someone in the area and were able to sleep on couches with our kids at the house they rented. If i could give them 0 stars i would, it was a nightmare.

Short weekend with friends

The property is small, yet spacious and open! We didn't even make it downstairs to play games! Loved the layout of the house! Just a minor delay with the last bit of information, but it worked out at the end. We had a lovely stay!

Quaint spacious home to relax

We stay in several VRBO homes each year for long weekend getaways in MN and WI, and this place met our expectations: clean, spacious, good location, yard space, comfortable beds, and good kitchen amenities. Family of 5 all enjoyed ourselves. Note: This is an older home that’s been remodeled (except upstairs bathroom), but if you’re expecting brand new, higher-end you probably would be more comfortable somewhere else. If not, I highly recommend and would consider staying here again for sure.

Perfect place for family

This place is the perfect vacation home for a family getaway. It's in a quiet neighborhood with a huge yard! Close to the lake, a fire pit with a cute little s'mores set up, and beds for everyone! It was my husband, our two boys, my in laws, and my sister in-law, her husband and myself and it was wonderful even though our stay was short. Thank you again for all the memories that were created when we stayed!

Beautiful property

This is a beautiful house! It was clean and the communication with the host was prompt. Lots of bees had built nests around all entrances and they had someone out within an hour to take care of it. There is a fire pit and they had a basket full of s'mores stuff which was a cute touch. I wish there had been a Bluetooth speaker so we had some music, but that was the only thing lacking! I would definitely recommend this rental!

Nice updates to property. Enjoyed the large yard . wi fi should be provided since slow local connections with phone Providers make downloads or use of hotspot impossible much less the hdtv Thanks!

This property is just as described! Although it is not located right on the lake, the walk to the dock is minimal and an easy walk. Jeremy was very accommodating and allowed us 2 spots on his dock for both of our boats! The lake was great for both fishing and water sports! The cabin itself is clean and has been stocked with many essentials (linen/towels/ tp/ pots/ even complimentary shampoo/conditioner etc.) The only thing I would caution renters with would be the friendly neighborhood pets 🙂 There are a few friendly dogs who like to roam the neighborhood. We can’t thank Jeremy and family enough for allowing us to stay on his property and being so accommodating!

Fantastic Birthday Weekend

Beautiful Balsam Lake Cabin

This cabin is a lovely getaway near the Twin Cities. The cabin has been remodeled with modern updates, is comfortable, dog and kid friendly (though our kids are all adults now) and a short walk to the dock. The water is great for boating and swimming. We rented the pontoon for a day, and it was waiting for us at the dock in the morning. The cabin has everything you need. Owner was quick to respond and checked in with us via text. We would rent it again.

A nice place to stay

The owners were very helpful and very responsive to any issues that came up. Very friendly owners who allowed us to use their own property that was on the lake. The house was updated with nice touches. We knew the house was not right on the lake and would not rent it again because that proved to be important. Also there were no windows that could open in the bedrooms and no shade on the west picture window. This meant we couldn’t get air flow. They need an umbrella on the deck. However, overall, we liked the place and the people.

Great place to enjoy with friends!

Wife and I wanted a weekend away with friends and this place was perfect. The inside has a nice open plan to hang out and entertain. We were able to rent a pontoon for the day which allowed us to explore the lake and enjoy all of Lake Balsam. We only had 4 people and 2 dogs staying at the property, but it can easily accommodate 8 people and the perfect spot for a mini-getaway with friends. Jason (property manager) and Jeremy (owner) were available if we needed anything and very friendly guys.

Summer time on the lake

Great Experience! The owners answered all questions we had and met us on arrival. They gave us tips and information about the lake, restaurants, and shopping .

Disappointing

The cabin is mid renovation. Our stay started with icy entrance stairs and went down from there. Countertop not attached to cabinets, exposed wires in kitchen, broken handle on microwave, construction adhesive on several areas of the floor, non functioning regulator on well so if you are in the shower don’t let anyone turn on a faucet, not enough kitchen towels, kitchen window installed sideways so opens without control and takes 2 people to close. Luckily it did not break when it snapped open. Indicates it sleeps 9 but no one was brave enough to sleep on the top bunk, way too unsteady, so slept on floor. One small garbage can so trash bags everywhere. No space for recycling. Don’t be fooled by the note you will be provided a WiFi password, bring your own WiFi. Not good communication about a couple specific items, was told not there so we packed and brought and then was there as well. Although the renovation that has been done is nice, in my opinion it is not ready for vacationers or groups of 9.

Balsam Lake Home

My family and I stayed at the house for a long weekend. We enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. The host was very quick at replying to my questions, the house was clean, and the kitchen was stocked with what we wanted. We had a fire one day, the supplies for smores were furnished along with the fire wood. We had an awesome time, beautiful fall weather and perfect house.

Great Little Cabin - perfect way to end our summer

This was a great little cabin and was perfect for my family and my sister's family. It fit all 8 of us very comfortably. The property manager was quick to respond with any questions prior to our arrival and we met the owners upon arrival and they were extremely nice and helpful. It was super nice that they allow you to use their Golf Cart for bringing stuff down to the dock. And a big bonus that you could also rent their pontoon for an additional fee. Balsam Lake is a great lake and we enjoyed being able to cruise around on the pontoon. The cabin was very clean and recently renovated, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook. The firepit was nice for bonfires and the big yard was perfect for playing outside games. It was the perfect way to end our summer before the kids head back to school
