Balsam Fir On the Lake it was awesome!

It was my wife myself and my 24-year-old son. And our two golden retrievers. And We had an awesome experience! The place was everything we hope for, and more! The house was great, The backyard going into the lake was awesome, the pontoon was perfect. We used it a lot. And the fire pit was perfect. We will definitely be going back! And thank you!

Very Quiet

Nice place on a nice little lake. In mid-week in mid-September this is a very quiet place. I did find a few fish.

Annual 4th of July Trip

We had a great time at this place during our annual VRBO trip. It's a beautiful location and thank you for letting us bring the dogs. I think our lab loved the lake more than we did! Thanks again.

Perfect for family getaway

The Balsam Fir cabin was exactly what our family was looking for. We were able to stay a few relaxing days in the middle of our driving vacation while we hit the states surrounding Lake Michigan. We have done several VRBO's through the years across the country, but we have never had better communication anywhere. From the prearrival emails, to the info packets in the cabin, to the big board of everything when you walk in, all possible questions and scenarios were answered. We are a family of 5, kids ages 13 - 21, so the cabin was the perfect size for us. Everyone had their own space, but more importantly, there were great spaces for us all to be together. The weather threw us a bit of a curveball so we didn't get to spend as much time out on the lake as we would have liked, but when we did get out it was awesome. Be sure and rent the pontoon, it is worth it. Only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend there. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay at Balsam Fir.

Great Get-A-Way

Megan is an awesome host. She is very responsive to any questions You might have. We left some items at the house and Megan had them on the way to our house before we even made it home. We spent the week fishing, boating, and exploring the are. The game room is an awesome addition and kept us busy when the weather didn’t cooperate. We had a great time and would recommend this property.

Mom's annual getaway weekend

Nice Property comfortable beds. We book a Mom's annual getaway every year most the time on Balsam lake. We have a Giant inflatable raft we like to sit and relax on and this is a great place to do that. It fit our group Great. A few things to know would be . there is Wifi but No cell reception, and the property manager stops by or someone does to clean up the property and gas the boat. ( not sure why this isn't done before guests arrive) She did text to make us aware she was coming but unfortunately I did not receive that text due to not having cell reception. so we were caught off when people just arrive. there were not blinds on the back door and one of us girls was just getting out of the shower and was in a towel - we all Kinda felt uncomfortable. The house does provide towels to shower with , but bring your own outside Beach towels those are not provided so bring your own. We enjoyed our stay , clean , organized had everything to get through our weekend.

Beautiful cabin, great setting

First, Megan is really on top of it!! She did a wonderful job communicating the details of the checkin/out process and has made up brochures with many great items including things to do, rules, contact info and descriptions of the lake and surrounding area. I’ve stayed at quite a few Vrbos and this was by far the best experience. We plan on coming back. Thank you Megan for helping create wonderful memories with my family.

A lake home with all the perks!,

We had a great time, we just bring our food & suitcase & enjoy the lake home with all the amenities of a resort, only we have it all to ourselves, so private & relaxing. It s so easy dealing with Megan who is readily available, thanks from our family to yours for sharing your home with us!

Very welcoming

Our family celebrated Christmas here and we really enjoyed ourselves...something for everyone; ice fishing, movies, games, goecaching, sauna"ing", in addition to the Christmas celebration.

Wonderful hospitality and charming home

Very clean, many amenities, and the convenience of a pontoon on site is awesome. Our kids loved the little pond on site. They were excited by the frogs and tadpoles. The owner was responsive and checked in after a storm to ensure we had power.

Home away from home!!

We brought our food & clothes & everything else was provided. The home is beautiful & so comfortable. This is our new family summer vacation home, we enjoyed the lake & all its amenities. Thank you Megan, from the Henderson’s 😎

Loved our family vacation here!

Every year we take a family vacation in August and this was the perfect place to stay! The cabin was beautiful! We have a family of 7 and there was plenty of room for all of us. It was a bonus to us to be able to bring our 2 dogs and they had a blast jumping into the lake! The weather was beautiful when we were there and we had several of our meals out on the deck. Megan, the owner was great! We always received quick responses back to any questions we had prior to our arrival as well as when we were there. She offered suggestions for close grocery stores and restaurants. We also rented the pontoon for a day and enjoyed going around the lake seeing all the different homes. Very relaxing vacation. We had a wonderful time! Thank you, Megan, for opening your home to us!

Super owners! Great Experience! Highly recommend!!!

Everything was great and we couldn't have asked for anything more for our stay! Super-clean and spacious (my wife and I with our 2 dogs) and great access to an awesome lake! If you stay here during the summer you MUST rent their pontoon that's on sight! So, convenient and worth that little extra money. Megan (and her family) couldn't have been nicer and more hospitable! From the WI beer waiting for us in the fridge upon arrival to the dog treats for our pups to the towels and little toiletries laid out, everything was top notch and what you'd expect to see at a nice hotel! She [they] definitely go above and beyond and it most certainly shows how much they care. Place is a little out of the way (6 hours for us from Chicago and an hour or so from Minneapolis) but if that's what you're looking for (and we were) then this is your place and you won't be disappointed! We will definitely be back...hopefully sooner rather than later!!! Thanks, Megan!!! - James and Julie Shaver

Loved the house and lake!

My family and I loved our stay at this lake house. Every room was super clean and decorated so nicely and we felt so welcomed. Megan was very nice and easy to work with, she even left treats for our dogs. Renting the pontoon was easy and a fun thing for us to do. The lake was great for fishing, we caught 28 fish just in one morning.

Peaceful cabin

We rented this place for three nights just for a family get away over the summer. We enjoyed the pontoon boat for a day, had a bonfire and my 7 year old enjoyed using the swing set. The cabin itself was nice and peaceful. We also enjoyed having use of Netflix and Wifi. My son caught 10 fish during our time there and most of those were off the dock. The upstairs of the cabin is significantly nicer than the basement but we wanted to sleep on the same level as our son, so we all slept downstairs. My only complaints would be that the kitchen cabinets felt very grimy and the basement was at least 15 degrees colder than the rest of the house even with the vents closed. At night it got so cold, we had to turn on the heat (in the middle of July!) just to be comfortable but then the upstairs would get super hot so we couldn't enjoy the evenings upstairs. Despite those issues we still enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout the home.
