A wonderful old house that has become a B&B. We had our own private bath, even showering in a claw-foot tub! We concluded our stay with a fabulous breakfast.

I really enjoyed my night here! The room had so much charm, and the jetted tub and waterfall shower were lovely! The bed was very comfy and we slept very well! Breakfast was prompt and delicious! Joe was very accomodating! I would absolutely love to stay again, especially in the winter months when we could use the fireplace as well! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Unfortunately, the Terrace Room did not match the impression given by the website photos and did not meet expectations for the $239-per-night rate. The room is on the ground floor with a private entrance (which was great!), but it is located directly beside the owner’s suite, with the terrace facing the entrance to the owner’s residence. As a solo traveler, this setup made me feel uncomfortable and I did not want to utilize the sitting area. There were also cleanliness issues, including noticeable brown stains on the curtains, red stains on the carpet, and tears and hairs in the sheets.

We stayed one night in the family suite. The home is so charming!! Our bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept like the dead. The breakfast was delicious, as well. Also appreciated the VIP comp of sparkling wine. I’d stay again.

Comforts of a Bed & Breakfast

Nice change from staying in a hotel. Host was very friendly and historically informative. Breakfast offerings were very satisfying. Bed & room were very comfortable. If using stairs is of a concern, there is no elevator option.

Wayside Inn in Ellicott City, MD is a beautiful 18th century home. The owner / host is great. We stayed on the third floor. Even though it is very close to a freeway, we were not bothered by any noise. The food was delicious. Our group of three had a small separate dining room to ourselves. The home is charming and full of period pieces, but bathrooms have been modernized and the beds were very comfortable. This was much more fun than being in a hotel. Definitely worth checking out.

The Way Side Inn is a fantastic place to stay. Joe is such an engaged innkeeper. He was attentive and spent time chatting during our delicious breakfast. The bed was so comfy. The shower was very nice. We loved seeing the huge oak tree. Joe was happy to fill us in on the history of the inn. We felt safe and like we had stepped back in time to a slower time.

Quaint little B&B. Breakfast was delicious, room was a good size, parking was easy, and host was great. It's an older property and had older (1980's?) soft furniture (couches) which made the whole place smell a bit like my grandmothers house. I was surprised that in early Oct that there wasn't a place to sit. It looked like the outside are was shut down for the season.

Charming Historic Stay

Got in very late (1am) and Joe was super accommodating! We slept well in the comfortable bed on the 3rd Fl (Betty’s room). This B&B is so charming, I think it’s from 1790! The next day we explored Old Elicott Coty and went to a show at Post Merriweather Pavillion. The breakfast the next day was delicious and huge! Joe gave us some history and it was fun hearing his story! Would def stay again! No elevators for those who can’t do stairs just an FYI.

Lovely historical home Joe our host is very attentive and clearly cares about his property and guests. We saw deer early in the morning in the peaceful garden. Our room was very spacious with a living area. The home is cozy but could use a deep clean as we noticed a bit of dust on the decorations in our room but overall the property is kept well. Joe made a point to keep guests segregated during breakfasts as it seems people in that area are still keeping the Covid era alive. Disappointing as one reason to stay at a B&B is to meet new friends when traveling. Overall a nice experience.

A nice stay!

I had an overall good experience at the wayside Inn. I just felt like it was dated and sort of disjointed. For example, a massage chair In the living room seemed very out of place. There was also some Christmas decorations still up That just seem to be forgotten and it is September. However, it was the most comfortable bed. I have slept iin a very long time! Joe was very nice and the end was special. I just think it would take not a lot of effort to make it seem more charming. I would still say again!

A nice comfy getaway in Ellicott City

We enjoyed our brief 1-day stay at the Wayside Inn in Ellicott City, MD. Joe the Innkeeper was gracious, welcoming, and attentive and offered insights regarding the history of the B&B and prior owners who essentially established the inn. The features of the inn were consistent with many online reviews. Our room, the Pierpoint deluxe suite, was specious and comfortable. A really nice poster bed and great shower. The views were also nice. Wish it had been winter and we could have used the fireplace. As noted in other reviews, the floors were extremely squeaky, though to be expected from a historic building. Staircase could be a little tricky for older guests, though we were fine. Breakfast was quite tasty and Joe was proud of his culinary skills. It would have been great if more tea choices were available, and other amenities like espresso. Entrance and front and backyards could benefit from maintenance to remove overgrown flora and enhance the beauty of the property. Lastly, wishing that the owner had more branded mugs in stock (like other B&Bs we have stayed at) so that we could have purchased as a keepsake and helped promote his brand… Thanks to Joe for his hospitality!
