I recently stayed at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Barrie, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The biggest issue was the mattress in the room. It was extremely uncomfortable — you could actually feel the mattress springs poking through when lying down. Getting a good night’s sleep was nearly impossible, which is the most basic expectation when booking a hotel.
To make matters worse, the internet was not working during our stay. In addition, the smart TV streaming services were down, so there was no way to relax with a show or movie in the evening. These are standard amenities that should be reliable, especially for the price paid.
The amenities situation did not improve from there. The hot tub was out of service, which was very disappointing as it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. There was no clear communication about it being unavailable.
Outside conditions were just as frustrating. The hotel had not properly cleaned the snow from the parking lot, and there were no available parking spots. We were forced to park next to the entrance pillars, which felt unsafe and inconvenient.
Overall, this stay was a really bad experience. Between the uncomfortable bed, lack of functioning amenities, poor maintenance, and parking issues, it did not meet even basic expectations. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.
