About this property

Berrocal Rural Lodging

  • Our house is located in the small village of Berrocal, in the province of Huelva, in a mountainous area surrounded mainly by forests of holm oaks and cork oaks, near the legendary Riotinto mines and nestled along the Río Tinto itself, situated at a crossroads of historical routes, as the trails used to transport ore from the Riotinto mines to Phoenicia, ancient Greece, Rome, and the British Empire passed through here. Part of these trails can still be explored today and are one of the town’s main attractions.

Set in a truly spectacular setting—designated a Protected Landscape along with the riverbed itself—Berrocal remained largely isolated from the surrounding towns practically until the late 19th century, thanks to the construction of the mining railway. This centuries-long isolation has allowed truly unique traditions to survive to this day, but we’ll have time to delve deeper into them in future posts.

The house, located on the outskirts of town but still within the town limits, sits on a 1,200 m² lot landscaped with native plant species and features three independent apartments, a private parking area, a swimming pool, barbecue areas (not permitted during the summer season), and picnic tables.
