Mountain Oasis
This mountain cabin was perfect for our family. We had plenty of space, games and movies inside and fun trails on the property that allowed us to explore with our kids. Coffee on the porch overlooking the pond was a nice quiet morning bonus. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Our family rates this cabin a 10 out of 10. We hope to be back in the near future.

Easter weekend
The cabin was beautiful. The grounds were spacious and gorgeous. The gravel RR tie steps up to the house were difficult to climb (I have bad knees and hips). It would be better with a king size bed with a softer mattress on the main level. The High Acres road from Hwy 9 needs to be paved. Too many pot holes! Didn't feel comfortable traveling the roads from Hwy 9 to the property at night due to road conditions. Thanks! Tami

We are so glad you enjoyed the cabin and your stay! We appreciate your feedback as well! We have 3 cabins on the 10 acre property and this one does sit higher up on the ground as the pictures depict with railroad tie steps to the house. We have another 3 bedroom cabin with easy access to the main level and more conducive for those that find it challenging to walk up steep steps. We are in the mountains and there is a 1.5 mile gravel road to the property. And, it is dark at night with no city lights. This is part of the marvel of staying in a cabin in the woods. Although it's a bumpy road, it is completely safe and acceptable for 2 wheel drive vehicles except in snow/ice conditions, then four wheel drive is required. The road is graded on a regular basis and gets occasional potholes when we get excessive rain. This is common in the Western NC mountain areas. We are only 10 minutes to town unlike other remote cabins and the result is nature’s paradise!

Relaxing Getaway!
This is one of our favorite places to relax. The home was spotless and welcoming upon arrival. We had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. We love exploring the trails as well as the peace and quiet of the property. A trip to downtown Black Mountain for lunch and the local breweries is not to be missed. I highly recommend this property to anyone staying in the Black Mountain/Asheville area.

We had a wonderful stay at the house. Quiet and surrounded by woods - just what we needed! Only issue is that we have an old dog with hip issues, so tackling the long staircase to the house was a challenge for her, but she managed in the end. And she loved the little trail and creek on property!

Great home base for our visit! We hiked the property and many trails in the area. Golf and great times on Lake Lure rounded out the vacation. This was our second stay at this property and we’ll certainly consider it again if we return to the area.

This was our second stay at this cabin and we again were pleased. Always clean and welcoming. We enjoyed the trail, views, fire pit, and tire swing. The property manager is amazing and very responsive. It’s a “fun” mountain drive up, but worth it.

Perfect Getaway
My family and I stayed here to have some r and r over the summer. It was absolutely perfect and we were so delighted with the cabin which is very secluded. If you love nature, and having your own hiking trails and access to mountain creeks (cold and clean water!), this is the place. We will definitely be back.

This listing is just as advertised, a beautiful mountain cabin. The property has some nice short trails. Each floor has its own bedroom and bathroom, giving each person plenty of space. If we make it back to Black Mountain we would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful and Relaxing Escape
We enjoyed a weekend away from the city with friends in the beautiful cabin by the pond. The cabin was well appointed and spacious, and the grounds were peaceful and relaxing. We hiked several trails on the property and used the hot tub, which was a nice bonus. The host provided very detailed instructions before arrival, and though the gravel road was a bit tricky to navigate (this was noted in the listing), it was well worth the drive. Overall, we highly recommend this property!

We had a great time at the high rock preserve. The kids and dogs enjoyed playing in the creek and the trails on the property were very convenient. The house had everything we needed, including games for the kids. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

The owners of this property were easily accessible and a joy to book with. The property itself was excellent for kids including the pond and trails! It can be difficult to enter the cabin as it is in a steep hill of gravel, but this was not an issue for our family. The kitchen had everything we could have needed. My only recommendation - bring your own pillows as they were not comfortable. This is a very minor detail of this amazing vacation for two families with small children!!!!!

We loved our vacation at the Preserves. The house was clean and just as listed. We hiked the property, which is beautiful, and enjoyed the views. We especially enjoyed the hot tub after some of our longer hikes offsite. The road leading to the property was a bit steeper and curvier than we had anticipated even though we have vacationed in the mountains before (our minivan had a difficult time on them) but we did make it. A truck or SUV with 4WD would be much better. Other than that, it was an amazing location and house and we will definitely visit again!

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in the mountains with all the comforts of home! We are glad you also made use of the private hot tub after your long hikes! We do confirm that once you exit Highway 40, going south on Route 9, it is a windy road for 4 miles, but it is paved and well-maintained. The speed limit is 35mph and safe to drive. We do have a 1.5 mile gravel road that leads to the property and is graded often. It's completely safe to drive with two wheel vehicles except in snow or ice conditions. There is a steep driveway down to this cabin; however, the steep portion is paved completely with asphalt to make it easier to get up and down. The gravel part of the road is a little bumpy sure beats driving in the city traffic and the road leads to nature paradise! We look forward to hosting you again in the future!

Beautiful cabin & property
Our family had a wonderful fall vacation at this cabin. It is clean, serene, has beautiful views of the pond, and we loved the property trails. It is close to Black Mountain but we loved spending most of our time at the cabin! *note- the last 10mins to get here are on a gravel road. We hope to be back and highly recommend if you’re looking for a mountain getaway.

Perfect getaway
We spent a long weekend with our kids and dogs in this beautiful cabin. It has everything you need. Beautiful views, walking trails, a bonfire pit for s’mores and a hot tub. It is perfectly located away from it all allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature but still a short drive to downtown Black Mountain and only about 30 mins to Asheville. Looking forward to staying here again with friends in the future!

Our family had a wonderful time at this beautiful cabin in Black Mountain. We played horseshoes and had many evening fires. We also spent a lot of time together on the gorgeous deck and in the hot tub! Michelle, the property manager, was amazing. Would definitely recommend this home!!

Hikers' Dream
This property was perfect for our family of four hiking adventurers: well-situated to various state and local parks, an easy drive to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and even had trails out the front door. We loved Black Mountain for dining and shops and found the cabin a convenient drive to Asheville. We thoroughly enjoyed the games and hot tub during our down time. Our only disappointments were that our Sasquatch photo turned out blurry (bah!) and that we didn't have more time.

Our family of 4 and 2 dogs enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The cabin was just as listed. It was very clean, great location, and the house is fully stocked with everything you need aside from your food and clothes! We enjoyed hiking the trails, checking out Chimney Rock, touring the Biltmore, and dining and shopping in Downtown Black Mountain. We also enjoyed hanging out relaxing at the cabin. The wifi is a little spotty but that didn't matter too much to us as we enjoyed getting away from reality for a bit! Verizon phones work well, AT&T not so much. We hope to go back to visit again in the future. Thank you for sharing your cabin with our family.

Great for families!
We decided to head to the mountains for spring break and this cabin was perfect for all of our needs! It was spacious enough for my 4 kids (8, 10, 14, and 18), my boyfriend and his dog, and myself to feel completely comfortable. It was great that there is a completely separate area in the basement with TV, couches, and game tables so the kids were able to hang out on their own while the adults relaxed and watched whatever we wanted to upstairs. The hot tub was clean and well maintained and while the kids thought it was a lot of fun during the day my boyfriend and I found it very relaxing at night. Outside we loved that there was a large grassy area around the pond so that the kids and dog could play and we could keep an eye on them from the large balcony. The trails and creek around the property also kept us entertained for a couple of hours one day. We primarily spent our 4 night stay at the cabin and on the surrounding property but it was nice to be close to Asheville. We took a day to go shopping and enjoying the Pinball "Museum" before having a delicious dinner at Strada which, we were happy to see, had a plethora of gluten free options. The Ingles in Black Mountain was clean and convenient and had everything that we needed to make meals and snacks during our stay. The only potential downside to this property is that the DSL internet is pretty slow compared to what we're use to. It was difficult to stream 1 show at times and nearly impossible to stream 2 at a time. This was a positive in that it kept the kids interested in the variety of DVDs, game tables, and great outdoors and it allowed all of us more time to play games together. It would likely be a problem if you were intending to get some work done and/or needed to do any virtual meetings during your stay. Verizon does work very well here and my boyfriend was able to use his mobile hotspot with Verizon service to get us a stronger signal when we needed it. So, if you happen to have Verizon you're in luck! I also want to add that the owner was very prompt to respond to any questions I sent as we were preparing for our trip. We did not have any issues during our stay but, based on the response time for non-urgent questions, I have no doubt that if we had any trouble it would have been handled quickly and efficiently. Overall, we had an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this property and have added it to my "favorites" when looking at locations for future trips.

Private cabin close to town.
We spent a week at this cabin and felt right at home. The cabin was so beautiful, clean and comfortable. Loved the amenities; lots of games, foosball table, air hockey table and hot tub, the logs ready for the fire pit… I can go on and on. The best part for my kids and pup was the trails in the property! We hiked them every morning and afternoon and had a great time! The cabin is isolated and private but just a short 10 minute drive to back mountain town and stores. Asheville is about 2.0 minute drive. I give this property a 10/10!!

Wonderful Snowed In Get-away
I can't say enough wonderful things about this cabin and the owners! The location was just what we were looking for! The best part is we got SNOW and lots of it! We knew that a storm was coming in and we were prepared. Everything we could have needed was available! The games, air hockey, classic DVDs, and hot tub, made our stay super fun! Since we were snowed in, Sherri was so helpful and accommodating by answering our questions and didn't charge us the extra night since we couldn't get out. We definitely want to come back here again in the summer.

Overall the cabin was beautiful and accommodating. It was very clean and comfortable. Lots of kitchen stuff to use, so glad there was a dishwasher, and the tv was easy to navigate. I loved the hot tub being right outside the front door, and the extra towels they provided. The bathtub was a joy as well. The bedrooms do tend to run warm so keep the thermostat low in the main room. The grounds were lovely and the fire pit was large and well stocked w wood. The roads were a bit tight and curvy getting in so be careful in the winter. My only complaint is that the wifi available was very slow and unreliable. It's fine for checking your phone, but it made streaming unwatchable and wouldn't be suitable for someone needing to work or make video calls.

Thank you for your 5 star review. We do have wireless wifi and in the mountains we find the service is not as fast as available in the city areas. However, we have had many people work from the property with the wifi without issue. It is good for checking email and surfing the internet; however, some business applications may run slower than preferred.. Cloudy weather may affect the service and if data is used up it may be slower too. Feel free to contact me next time to order more data to help with the speed if necessary.

Lovely cabin - hard beds
We enjoyed our stay over the New Year holiday. The cabin is spacious and stocked with everything you need. The road to the cabin is bumpy, as others have said, but it's not horrible. We definitely suggest trying to arrive before the sun sets as it can be difficult to find in the dark for the first time. The pond was cute and the walking/hiking trails are such a bonus. The jet tub in the master suite and hot tub outside was fantastic! Our only complaint were the mattresses. They are VERY firm and we didn't get the best of sleep especially with the master bed being squeaky with every toss and turn. Also, beware that cell service and wifi aren't great so plan ahead if you need those while at the cabin.

Gorgeous Mountain Retreat
We had plenty of room for 6 adults. The property was immaculate inside and out. We had space to cook meals, with a well appointed kitchen. The washer/dryer was a plus! Game room downstairs was well used by all of us, and the pond and walking trail were gorgeous. Our host provided precise driving directions as well as an extensive list of restaurants nearby and things to do. We will definitely go back to this property!

I had lots of great experiences at this cabin. Drinking coffee on a rocking chair overlooking nature. Jumping into a hot tub with very strong jets. A short trail around the mountain. A short ride to Asheville to eat, play, and pub crawl. You can tell a lot of thought was put into this property. Would recommend to anyone looking for an escapade.

Long Awaited Summer Vacation
