Four generation family trip
Everything was perfect. Michael and Jason are amazing. They made sure we had everything we needed for the perfect getaway! I highly recommend staying in their properties and will absolutely be returning!

Mice and Bed Bugs!!
We stayed in the Wildcat Lodge on Black Mountain with our family last week. The house is spacious, well-appointed and is in a lovely area of North Carolina… Now, the tough part of this review. It is also filled with mice and potentially bed bugs. While visiting we saw three mice all on separate locations scurry through the house (the kitchen, laundry room and downstairs game room). There are mouse droppings all over the corners in almost every room of the house. Additionally, we found a bug bed in the upstairs bedroom on the left on the mattress. We were completed grossed out and tried contacting the management company and owner several times. The owner did not get back to us and the management company returned very dismissive emails telling us they could get someone there to look for the rodents but not for a few days. They also ended each email with “Hope you are enjoying your stay.” What?? We certainly understand there is wildlife in the mountains but you don’t expect THE HOUSE to be infested. And you know the adage, if you are seeing one, there are likely dozens more you are not seeing. We have pictures of all the droppings and bed bug and will attach if this platform allows us to do so. We’ve have stayed at several VRBO’s over the years and this is the first bad review I’ve ever left. I wouldn’t have done so if the management company or owner took our concern seriously and behaved appropriately.

Fun mountain weekend with friends & family!
Perfect for a large group. Open floor plan. Large wooden table for meals! Nice downstairs area for teens/young adults. Great wood fireplace! Lots of seating. Great hikes! This is our second time staying in the Catawba Falls development and we love it.

Marine Reunion
There 10-12 of us that get together at a different location every year and this year was Black Mountain,NC. We had a great time at the Wildcat Lodge. Plenty of room on the deck, where we were most of the time. Sleeping arrangements worked out great. Plenty of plates, glasses and cookware. Everyone loved the location and the house. Thanks so much for everything.

The Wildcat Lodge was exactly as advertised! It was well stocked and the furnishings were really nice. We really enjoyed our stay and the nearby amenities were great. I would strongly recommend this property to others and there's a good chance we book in the future for the same trip.

Great stay with extended family
We had a great stay at the wildcat lodge with extended family. There were fourteen of us ranging in age from 2 to 64 and the space worked out perfectly. The large main room was great as was the big deck. Although it’s a bit of a drive to get to Asheville we went numerous times and loved it, really enjoyed the Shindig on the Green. Black Mountain is relatively close and has shops, restaurants and a large grocery store. We also enjoyed Chimney Rock and Lure Lake. We’d definitely stay here again.

Wonderful House
We really enjoyed our time at Wildcat Lodge. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils and spices. The accommodations were comfortable and kid-friendly. Even a minor issue with the a/c unit was fixed quickly and with no interruption to our visit. Great house!

Great location and beautiful property
We stayed in Black Mountain with some friends and enjoyed our stay. The cabin was a short drive to the town and was close enough to Asheville for our teens to go on their own. The neighborhood hiking trail to Catawba falls was easy to follow and such a great place to have nearby. We also went boating on Lake James which is only a 45 minute drive. The cabin was clean and well-stocked with everything that we needed. The hosts responded quickly to our questions. We had a fantastic time and will certainly be returning!

Nice visit
Family had a nice visit to North Carolina. We stayed one week at the Wildcat lodge. The Host was very nice and quick to respond! Reception in area isn’t great but Wi-Fi at Lodge is good. Dumpster was a big issue for us as it was so far away and it made leaving harder having to pack trash with our belongings which made for tight fit. The house was comfy and accommodated most every need/desire.

Beautiful setting, cozy home!
There was plenty of room for all our family in this house. We appreciated the warm touches, lots of bathrooms, deck area, game room. Owner was responsive and even left cookie cake for us! We would stay here again but would recommend an update on map directions. Some of the directions are no longer accurate. Also, the surfaces and linens in the house were clean, but a deep cleaning is needed - lots of bugs in light fixtures, cooktop not quite clean. We had a problem with several drawers in kitchen just wanting to fall out the back when opened. Owner assured us she has carpenter on the way for that. No lack of kitchenware- in fact it is almost too much. Pots and pans were nearly falling out of every cabinet, with not much organization, so hard to find things. We suggest more lighting or brighter bulbs in bedrooms. Very dark in there. We had an amazing time, but just think some things need to be tweaked to make it perfect.

Great mountain cabin
The cabin had plenty of room for 8 adults and 9 children. We loved toasting marshmallows around the fire pit on the back deck. It was a plus that the firewood was provided. Our family was very excited to see a bear walking down the road from the cabin. Our grandkids enjoyed watching old the Disney VHS movies that were in the cabin, playing hide-n-seek in the large cabin and ping pong.. Wildcat Lodge is a perfect place for family gatherings of all ages.

Wonderful house for a family gathering
My family had a family reunion at the Wild Cat Lodge. It’s a really nice house, outfitted with lots of comfortable public spaces, a well stocked kitchen, a beautiful deck and comfortable private sleeping arrangements. The fire pit on the deck was awesome and our group enjoyed playing corn hole, grilling and hanging out. The Wi-Fi was excellent! We even went throwback and watched a VCR movie! Once we got the hang of the directions into Catawba Preserve it was easy after that. The house is a bit of a distance from the town of Black Mountain so it’s necessary to plan car availability. Get your groceries and provisions before heading up the hill, and do plan your garbage management and runs to the dump (about 10-15 minute drive but no charge). Upside for our group is we had a bear visit early one morning on the deck, which was very exciting! They weren’t pests and it wasn’t a problem at all. Lots of wild Turkey sightings too. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at Wild Cat Lodge.

You’ll feel like you’re being hugged by nature
We had a great time! Owner was extremely attentive to the cleaning and maintenance needs we experienced. They even left a cookie cake to help us celebrate my mother-in-law’s 75th birthday! Home is so comfy and cozy. You feel like you’re being hugged by nature. Also loved that we were close enough to run into town, but far enough away that you don’t have all the hustle and bustle. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Fun Family Gathering Place
Our group of 8 adults (4 couples) and 9 children stayed for 4 nights. We had plenty of space for everyone and the home was well equipped for cooking and grilling for everyone. We did some hiking on the trails right in the neighborhood which was convenient. The roads to get to the property are long and curvy so it takes a bit of time to get to “town” so we didn’t explore black mountain much, however we had plenty to do at the lodge playing board games and playing ping pong! The starlink internet worked great. A black bear came to visit us on the last night which was exciting and terrifying. We had such a great time relaxing with family in these spacious accommodations that we’re considering making it a yearly family trip.

We had a group of 10 (5 couples) on our visit. We had the absolute best time! The house was great! EVERYTHING we needed was right there! Love the generous amount of space for everyone. The house was exactly like described. the best part is lots of room for everyone and plenty of bathrooms. the living area and kitchen had ample space. we loved the outdoor deck with the fire pit. thanks to the owners for providing lots of firewood. the kids took their ping pong game to the next level! we loved it. Highly recommend this house. the owners were on the spot. We needed some help with the direct tv.

Spacious, beautiful home
There wasn’t a thing we would change about this beautiful, perfect home. We had a big group with us (3 families, 10 kids) and the house accommodated us so well. The downstairs was a perfect “kid space”- it was fun and safe and every kid had a bed! The home was a perfect balance of beautiful and comfortable. The king beds were so comfortable and we loved all the bathroom and closet space. The community was very nice- a neighborhood feel but still plenty of privacy. We loved the hike “to the falls” although we never found the falls from that end 🤷‍♀️ Would highly recommend this property to anyone!
