Sentimental Journey
My brothers and I rented this property to commemorate the 10 year passing of our mother who owned this property for almost 40 years. The quaint and simple nature of her home, and the gorgeous riverfront, are still very much the same as when she was there. The expanded deck is wonderful! Jonathan, the manager, was a total delight to work with. He was quick to respond to any questions I had and really strives to make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

Mckenzie river retreat
We chose this property because we had the impression it was directly next to the river. It was not and in fact we had to walk down a path to get to the river and could not see it from the deck due to woods and flora. Also the ad said TV available but only 2 smart tv options. But was very clean and beds & kitchen comfortable and close to where we recreated

Enjoyed our stay in this cute cabin..
Owner was very easy to talk to along with an easy check in. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Comfy beds and a nice hot shower. Everything I planned on doing out doors was so close. My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin and hope to return in the near future. Thank you again for your hospitality:-)

Riverfront get away
We enjoyed the house. Enough room for 4 adults comfortably. The deck was wonderful and the trail out to the river was nice to watch the rafters float down. A deck of cards or a game of some kind might be a nice addition to the bookshelf. Thanks for a relaxing stay!

Very nice cabin for a weekend getaway. Everything was as advertised. Well stocked with everything you need, I would recommend this cabin for anyone wanting a nice weekend, very close to a great golf course (Tokatee). The reason we chose this property to rent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There was a few little things to complain about. The bbq didn’t warm up over 250 not sure why there was plenty of propane we couldn’t use it. The cooking seasoning was All low. Pillows in the master were rock hard. The wife wasn’t too stooked about the motel 6 toilettries. For what we paid we just expected a little better. The house and garage were cool. The host needs update their ad to explain extra charges for the garage. We didn’t mind paying it we just didn’t see the extra charge when we booked the house we thought the garage was included. But we really did have a great time regardless.

Some guests think they can get away with booking for two people and show up with 8 -- and they sometimes choose anger and payback when that doesn't work out. We offer the house with or without the garage features. You can book the house by itself for a fantastic rate for upto 5 guests (considering the 3/4 acre place with private river frontage), or you can add the garage features to sleep another 4 guests. (Up to 9 total). We feel that's probably why he made up his complaints. The BBQ is new and we couldn't reproduce the experience. The cooking seasonings are all just over half now and its a month later. There are several pillows to offer a variety of comfort. We spend quite a bit on nice toiletries for our beautiful bathroom with custom two head shower. Very peaceful location
We stayed for three nights in this cozy cabin. It's easy to find but very quiet and peaceful. I was a bit worried about being cold given the recent winter weather but the cabins electic fireplace and heaters kept it very warm and comfortable. Plenty of room for three and our two small dogs. Large kitchen area and an updated bathroom. Of course the location is really the winner! The cabin backs to a small creek and then a few more steps to the riverfront. We would be anxious to visit in warmer weather so we could really enjoy the surroundings. My only tip would be to sure to bring along whatever groceries you need. There were only a few local eateries and some were closed during our stay. The Blue Sky market had a fairly good selection but it's really more convenience store offerings and the somewhat remote. location was reflected in their prices . Very close to many recreational activities but quite a few were snowed over while there (Sahalie Falls and Clear Lake). Nonetheless we enjoyed the quiet family time. Wifi worked GREAT if that's important to you and we did need to access for work occasionally. My only few small critiques would be about the sticky screen door that was hard to open and tv set up. We were able to figure out how to stream Netflix but that's about it. If there was cable it was out while we were there. I consider myself fairly tech savvy but some directions to use the tv/remotes might be helpful.

Cute Home
I stayed here along with my friend and 2 dogs. The place is located on a nice quiet street for easy walking. There’s a restaurant down the street that we didn’t get a chance to check out but it was walking distance. Property has nice backyard with direct access to river. It was a beautiful place to river watch. We also got to see snow fall. The best part for me is how close it is to my favorite hike which was 20 min away.

Little piece of paradise
Loved this out of the way cabin, with access to the mckenzie river. Just the right amount of amenities, with a store and restaurant a short walk away. Never noticed any neighbors, felt like it was just us and the river.

Simple old home in the woods
Nice stay. Good location. It’s an old building being updated piecemeal but not modernized. Really nice deck overlooking forest and trail to river. Living room furniture inside dark and dated . Bottom of kitchen door out to deck was rotted so couldn’t use it. The owner is lucky to have Jonathan as manager but he can only do so much without their full support.

The owner fully supports our efforts in bringing this classic McKenzie Cabin back to its glory, and there are lots of projects completed every year toward that end. Was a good trip for us!
The place was very clean and neat, has a full kitchen, very nice. The access to the river was nice, however there is a branch right across the access and not ideal fishing. The bed was hard and not very inviting. There are no transitions from the living room to the kitchen, the bedroom to the kitchen and the bathroom to the kitchen. It seems that they redid the floor in the kitchen that was a taller style of tiling and doesn’t make a nice transition into other rooms. So, there are toe stubbers in all these places. Overall, I still have a five star but the place could use a couple things to make it more comfy and the fishing accessible.

Hi Shelly. Thanks for your review! That tree just came down last week and we're waiting for approval to take it out of the river. The bed is set to be replaced this month. The transitions from room to room is the result of the heated flooring in the kitchen. -- a definite plus in the winter months. Jonathan

Quiet & Secluded
Check in was easy. New deck & bathroom. Felt like this place was a work in progress. Kitchen needs more dishes and utensils. Some of the ceramic dishes were cracked or chipped. Needs a full set of dishes & drinking glasses, only four plates and four bowls so I had to wash dishes. Propane gas BBQ had one burner that did not work, rusted out heat plates in BBQ. Queen bed very comfortable. Despite saying this I would return for a stay in a heartbeat in hopes that forward progress for creature comforts continue to be added to this beautiful location.

Relaxing Staying
We were in the area to celebrate our grandma turning 100, having this cabin to go to after the multiple celebrations was wonderful. We had some peaceful downtime and having breakfast and being able to hear the river was incredible. Our daughter loved the bridge dropping leaf boats on one side and watching them come through the other side. We also had a day where some of the cousins came up and we went and enjoyed the nearby trails. We agreed that this was a great place to stay.

The cabin was lovely. Clean linens and comfortable beds. Beautiful location with river access.
Beautiful cabin with an amazing access to the river. House was clean with nice bedding. Comfortable bathroom with a new shower. Lots of towels. Navigating young children and dogs throughout the property was pretty easy. The area by the river should use some clearing out to make it a little more comfortable. It was great to have chairs and a table down there already. Thought the trail was well maintained and was easy to go back and forth to the house. Kitchen worked well except there wasn't a casserole dish for baking. The living area was beautiful with all the natural light and the temperature kept comfortable with the fans and air conditioner. The couch was uncomfortable and felt like there was a crack in the structure. Wonderful deck with a nice outdoor set. We had our own doggy bags but there wasn't any in the container by the front door. There was also some dog poop in the lawn when we got there. Not a big deal just thought you should know. I'd recommend getting rid of the invasive ivy on your trees. In such a beautiful landscape, it's tough to see so much. The ivy will eventually kill the trees and take over. Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay again.

The listing included space for 9 people but we found out after booking that it costs more to get additional space for the 9 people. We then were asked to pay immediately by the owner, even though VBRO gave us a later due date. I asked the owner to update the listing so others are not misled.

These folks had 12 people and we talked a out how best to accommodate the group. Jodi knew the main Cabin only sleeps 5 and in order to sleep upto 9, she could add the garage features, which is how we sleep upto 9. She could have cancelled at that point and get a refund, but instead chose to pay for the additional space. Please read the description for this property and you'll find that if Jodi had just read it, she would have already known when she booked. It that the cabin sleeps 5 and the optional garage adds another charge. By the way, a Cabin for upto 5 at this base rate is average in this area. Lovely Location, Beds Need Updated
The location of this property is wonderful, and the hosts were quick to respond when we decided to add the above garage sleeping space. The cabin was well equipped and comfortable for daytime activities. The drawbacks: The "queen bed" above the garage is an air mattress, and the mattress in the master bedroom is not very comfortable. I would also suggest the owners add additional rugs for placing shoes near the doors as they do not want you wearing shoes in the house.

Weekend river getaway
Great location and very easy to access. Communication and reservation information was prompt. My kids loved the little bridge they could walk across, I’m sure it’s beautiful in the spring/summer. Wi-Fi was a plus for planning adventures. Bathroom towels were well stocked. Basic kitchen supplies were provided, pots and pans could use updated but overall ready for basic cooking. Master queen bed was not the most comfortable as you could feel the springs and it was very bouncy. Overall though it was a great stay and we would happily stay again.

Nice cabin getaway
We got what we wanted, which was a quiet getaway in a cabin by the river! There are other homes along the road & riverbank, but we didn't see/hear anyone (granted it was off-season in March). Beautiful trees and river. Walked to get food at Obsidian Grill which was great. Drove to visit Belknap Hot Springs. The house was nice, only 2 things different from the listing which I recommend updating: No swing as pictured by the river, and the fireplace in the pictures has been covered over and replaced by a faux electric heater. Those were minor to us and we still enjoyed our stay, and everything else was as listed.

Cozy snowy weekend
We had a nice stay over New Year’s Eve weekend! We got lucky with snow throughout the weekend and enjoyed a few hikes on the McKenzie river trail. The property is beautiful backing up to the river and very quiet. I can imagine it would be a lot of fun in the summer! The home itself is rustic and it has older furniture. The queen bed is not the most comfortable it’s quite springy but the twin beds upstairs were cozy. The bathroom is great! Plenty of linens for our needs and the double shower head was nice. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals. No dishwasher, no problem we just used the dish racks to dry everything after washing. Plenty of pots pans and utensils. Overall, it’s just what we were expecting for a cozy weekend in the snow. Thanks for having us!

A Christmas nightmare
I rented this property for my adult kids from Portland to come and stay for Christmas. I live in the town that this cabin is located. We rented it from the 24-27th. I am a first time VRBO user so wasn’t aware of all of the in’s and outs of using these sites. I purchased the insurances. The weather this year turned into possible snow and dangerous driving conditions. I didn’t want to risk my inexperienced snow driving kids drive in bad conditions so cancelled them coming. I emailed the caretakers of the cabin about canceling due to the conditions and they told me the weather wouldn’t get bad and that the news just “sensationalizes” everything and they don’t refund for weather related conditions. We ended up getting 2ft of snow and we didn’t use one portion of that cabin for even one moment. I emailed the caretakers to explain that instead of such a rude reply to my request for information about a refund, they could have at least offered to postpone our reservation until our kids could safely drive here. Instead the caretakers offered to have me pay more for a future reservation and were condescending and told me that their other guests in other cabins made it home safely. Not sure how they would know that unless all of the other guests personally message them to let them know they made it home safely. I explained that I wouldn’t feel good about taking so much money for doing absolutely nothing especially on Christmas. The cabin is nice enough but very small quarters. The pictures make it look larger and I only know that because I went and at least looked at what we paid so much for.I would never recommend staying at this cabin just based on my terrible experience dealing with the caretakers.

Last minute non-emergency cancelations, like this one, do not qualify for refunds. We had 8 other properties experience check-in and check-out procedures with no problems during this same exact period of time. It's unfortunate, and we tried to work with this client -- but she insisted on full refund or nothing.. In regards to not making any use of the place -- that's not the issue. Her cancellation at the very last minute would have required the owners to suffer for the clients impulsive reaction.

McKenzie Bridge Wedding
We were in town for a wedding weekend at the Lloma Lodge and this was a perfect location. The cabin is just as described, very quiet and comfortable, fabulous location on the McKenzie River, and easy to locate. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed an easy drive up to Sahalie and Koosah Falls, the color was spectacular this time of year. This was our first trip to Oregon, but really loved the area and would consider coming back if travels allow. We highly recommend the cabin. My only thought, and it's just me, is the TV only has streaming available (which is fine especially when disconnecting in this beautiful area). We just like catching local and national news in the AM with coffee, so pulled it up on my phone, as the internet was wonderful. We are a family of 5 with 3 teen daughters. We really enjoyed our stay. There was enough room for everyone. The cabin is in a great location close to so many things to see and do. We loved the path from the beautiful deck to the river. The cabin had pretty much everything we needed and the movie selection was great for a movie night after a long day. Thank you!

The North Bank Cabin is a large property compared to the usual "little place right next to another little place". The private river frontage and pristine natural setting gives our guests a superior level of quality in a river front experience. The cabin is not modern, and doesn't have a dishwasher, but the heated floor and immaculate full size appliances make it possible to prepare real meals -- just like at home. The bathroom is brand new and offers a huge double shower head experience with a river-rock floor and porcelain tile walls. The beds upstairs are twins and are very comfortable. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom downstairs. The cabin is remodeled and modernized with AC, but it is a legitimate 1936 cedar shingle cabin. Most of our guests really love this place, its nostalgia and its sense of privacy, but if you really prefer "modern and new", then one of our other properties might suit you better. Cute cabin with River access
The cabin is conveniently located on the McKenzie River. We sat on the River bank and watched the rafts go by. There was also a Forest Service trail just down the road that was fun to explore. You can walk to the two restaurants in McKenzie Bridge but we had our pups and don’t leave them alone when we are traveling. The bed was not what works best for sleeping comfort but everything was very clean and well stocked.

Peaceful, beautiful, well maintained
Lovely cabin in the woods with the river at our feet. My sister and I spent two days with chairs in the water reading and soaking up the river and bird sounds. The house is everything you need for a relaxing stay. Clean and well maintained, newer bathroom and good updates in the kitchen but it’s all about the deck and the river.

McKenzie River House
House is hotel clean! Very comfortable. Host is very personable and provided dog towels. The kitchen is adequately equipped to prepare simple meals. The river is fast moving so be aware of the safety of your pets and children. There is also a little stream that our dog enjoyed splashing in.

Fantastic location
The house is historic, but the location is incredible. The deck is unbelievable, but the trail from the deck that leads to the river patio makes this property special. Sitting by the river is so relaxing and made the weekend.

Nice place, but too small for 5 adults
