History, beauty and new memories
This property was amazing, all the small things. We really appreciated the historical items, books, articles etc that let us learn aboit where we were staying. Sitting on the porch drinking coffee, relaxing around the fire pit at night so peaceful. We made a lot of memories no doubt we will come back.

Beautiful cottage
The pictures for this listing are beautiful and the cottage in person is even more stunning. There was the perfect amount of space to enjoy a very relaxed bachlorette party weekend. Everyone who came was very impressed with the property and amenities. The hosts were very responsive to any questions and checked up during the stay to ensure all was well. I would highly recommend and look forward to going back in cooler weather to explore more around the area.

Four Generations Making Memories
We loved every minute of our stay. We had the opportunity to visit wineries, multiple state parks, historical sites and a water park. Family meals around the large table and the porches for sunsets and stories made this vacation awesome.

A peaceful setting
We came out to go dirt bike riding at the Local park and this house was awesome To come back to. We played games in the yard bbq’d etc. There was plenty of space and very enjoyable! Thanks for the hospitality!

Wonderful, unique, historic property
So private, pristine, beautiful and amazing! From the great outdoor space, to huge bedrooms and deluxe bathrooms, two great kitchens, the house is the epitome of farmhouse style done right. Hosts were wonderful. The area is beautiful so 5 stars!

Family Reunion
My son and his family from Texas met up with my Sister and her family from GA for a wedding celebration in nearby De Soto/Festus area. We loved EVERY aspect of this property from the beautiful view for morning coffee on the porches to the amazing shade for afternoon tea. Beds were amazing, the peaceful surroundings and quiet made rest such a blessing. We had everything we needed and would love to stay again when we r in the area. Jennifer was a great hostess and quickly responded to any questions we had.

Awesome Home
A unique home with so much history. Our entire family, with kids of all ages, loved our stay here. Interior of home is adorable, clean and had all the amenities we needed and we loved making s’mores by the fire pit at night. Would highly recommend staying if you are in the area!

The house was really rustic with all the modern convinces very comfortable and clean.
We done a surprise birthday for a friend of ours who lives in bone terre, we had a wonderful time and the property manager was very quick to respond to questions, i would definitely tell all of my friends and or family to stay here if they find themselves in the area. Thank you for the hospitality.

Another amazing stay
We have stayed here before and kept coming back to “We should really stay there again”. Upon arrival we were once again blown away by how beautiful and well appointed the home is. So up to date and rustic at the same time! The owners always bend over backwards to make sure our stay is perfect. Thank you for letting us call this wonderful place home for out Thanksgiving stay.

Serenity Now
Our family just returned from the most positively perfect weekend at Hildebrand House!! Rarely have I found such a gem of a rental, and particularly for a family if varying ages and personal preferences, I was astounded that all of us were so in love with the accommodations. The beds were comfy for all (there were eight of us: six adults and two children), the house was unique and incredibly well-decorated, and the outdoor space was to die for!!! We loved every minute exploring the property. As we were leaving we were already planning a return trip some day in the future. Thank you to the hosts for providing such a serene location to unplug, connect with nature, and bond with loved ones!!

Better Than Any Hotel
To say that this property is amazing would be an understatement. This house absolutely blew all of my expectations out of the water. The Sam Hildebrand House provides the perfect opportunity to escape the busy suburban lifestyle for a weekend and allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet of the outdoors. We had a group of 12, and it was spacious enough to fit everyone with ease. Everyone in our group was amazed by the modern amenities that the house has to offer. We have already started discussions to make this a yearly trip!

Amazing History and Amazing Cabin
We loved our time at the Hildebrand Stone House! We stayed with our 5 grandchildren, ages 5-13, who loved the experience of living in the past with modern luxuries sprinkled in for comfort. The history of the home was so intriguing. The cabin was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We do not have one complaint about our stay. The hosts thought of everything to make our experience exceptional!

What was supposed to be a large family gathering ended up being just my small three-person family—and we couldn’t have been happier! The house was immaculate, and the historic story, matched with the exquisite design elements combined to give us a terrific weekend in Bonne Terre! We can’t wait to book this house again!

Great Stay. As advertised!
First, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the house accommodated my group of 8. A large room upstairs and down with 3 beds each did the trick. So while privacy is limited for larger groups, it worked out just fine for my group that gets together annually for a reunion of sorts. My group doesn't mind close sleeping quarters as long as there are several beds. A small additional kitchen and lounge area upstairs was also very nice to have. We especially enjoyed the history behind the property and how secluded (minus the spying cattle) it is. My only suggestion would be a larger Weber grill (grilling for 8 adults on a small Weber was a challenge). A hot tub or small pool would be an especially nice additional amenity. All in all, if the description and photos make for what appears to be an appealing stay for you, then it surely will be!

Relaxing Weekend
We enjoyed the secludedness of this beautiful, rustic home. We were nestled in the middle of nothing, but yet we could take a short 10 minute drive to get any necessities. We had six adults and two kids (four and six) and we had plenty of room. The big farmhouse table was great for playing games and at night we enjoyed hanging out at the fire pit. It was fun seeing the cows grazing right in front of us. Anytime I reached out with a question the owners were quick to respond. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Comfortable and unique home, beautiful property, great area for the outdoors
We had a wonderful time at this property and stayed over a week. The home is spacious, beautifully restored and decorated, very clean, and thoughtfully stocked with almost anything you might think of plus helpful extras like spare blankets and pillows, plenty of towels, a first aid kit, coffee and tea, shampoo and soaps, games, puzzles, fire and grill supplies, etc. The beds are extremely comfortable and everything is in good condition. As a bigger family it's helpful that the washer and dryer are available for longer stays. The hosts are very responsive and were flexible and helpful when our needs changed. The property is beautiful (great sunset and sunrise views, too) and our kids loved watching the cattle, playing in the big yard, outdoor dinners, s'mores around the fire pit, hide n' seek and puzzles in the house when it rained, and walks on the property. We saw lots of turkeys and even a bald eagle nearby. This home is perfect for larger groups, multiple families, or bigger families, like ours. Also, as a family with multiple kids with special needs it can be hard to find a vacation spot that "works" for their needs where the kids won't get overwhelmed by noise from others or disturb other families when they have meltdowns or are sensory-seeking. This was such a peaceful and relaxing respite as a special needs family that's usually on high alert. Although it's in a rural area the house is only an hour from St. Louis. We took a couple of day trips to visit the art museum, zoo, and take the kids on a riverboat ride. We also loved hiking in the many awesome state parks in easy driving range in the eastern Ozarks - we didn't have time to hit them all but loved Washington State Park, Hawn State Park, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, and Elephant Rocks State Park. The kids also liked the playgrounds at Bonne Terre Lake about ten minutes from the house. In summary, highly recommended! We hope to return one day.

Great Girls Weekend Get Away for my birthday!!
Easy to find and beautiful place to stay! We visited wineries and the Crown Valley Distillery and Brewery nearby. 7 of women celebrated my 50th birthday and all of the beds were so comfy! Hope to come back again and stay longer and explore the area more.

Best place in the Mineral Area!
The place is outstanding. Whether or not you know about the grisly Hildebrand history or not. Great place and the owners are equally as great. I would recommend to anyone. I do not have small children but they would love it too. STAY HERE!!!

Is it possible to be even cuter than the pictures?
We cannot say enough good things about this house. We had 11 people - 6 adults and 5 kids ranging in ages from 3-9 years old. We had plenty of room and found the house perfect for our group. And! It was amazingly warm - even in the bitterly cold weather - we expected it to be a bit drafty but it was the opposite. We are already thinking about our next trip - in warmer weather so we can use the fire pit!

The owners,Jennifer and Scott did a beautiful job recycling beautiful remnants from the past to make this one of a kind gem worth the trip. Our family enjoyed every inch of this historic home. We are already making plans for our next getaway!

This house is absolutely amazing! The property is gorgeous, easy access to town, very nice fire pit with plenty of wood and chairs! The house was stocked with everything plus some! Coffee, several snack (if needed), all dishes and cooking utensils, games, etc! Heated bathroom floors were so nice in this beautifully restored home! Make sure to read the history of the home it’s very cool and the way they reused so many of the old pieces from the original house and barn! ❤️❤️ We can not wait to go back! The owners were so accommodating and flexible!

Thanksgiving Getaway
We had a wonderful stay at the Hildebrand farm! The house is beautifully restored and clean and felt like stepping back in time (with all the conveniences of the modern world). The property feels so secluded and peaceful, but was an easy drive into town or to nearby spots to hike and explore. The layout is great for two families and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchens were equipped with plenty of dishes and pots and pans for cooking basic meals. We prepared a full Thanksgiving dinner for 8 by supplementing with some items we brought from home. The owners are very quick to respond to any needs. It was a great stay overall and we would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy some quality family time.

Coffee with the Cows and S'mores with the Stars
The Hildebrand House was a beautiful, relaxing place to spend a couple of fall days. The house itself is lovingly and beautifully restored. It felt like stepping back in time but with all of the comforts and conveniences we needed. Comfy beds, lots of space, lots of thoughtful touches. Each morning I sat out and drank my coffee while watching the cattle graze nearby. In the evenings we enjoyed star gazing around the campfire. Plenty of state parks and conservation areas nearby for hikes. Highly recommend this house! Jennifer was easy to work with and made us feel so welcome. One of our favorite VRBOs so far!

Timeless tradition meets pampered modern
Tucked back on a winding driveway you approach a timeless Federal home set on a charming patch of land. Surrounded by mature trees and grazing cattle you find a home with vast and welcoming porches begging you to sit on a rocker and let your stress drain away. A fire pit and grilling area invites you to bring your steak and s’mores! The interior is sumptuous and welcoming just waiting for you to have large family meals at the farmhouse table. The spa like baths with their farmhouse reminders would make Chip and Joanna Gaines proud. Plenty of sleeping accommodations for our large group of grown siblings and our boisterous offspring. We cannot begin to tell you just how much we enjoyed our relaxing getaway! Scott and Jennifer definitely know how to make you feel welcome in this lovingly painstaking restored historic home.
