Lovely rental but beware of extra fees
Essentially this is a room in a lovely resort on the coast of Maine. Location was excellent, amenities abound and were as described, staff was helpful and professional.
But, I would not book again through this listing again. Host did not pay entire rate. I ended up paying 20% more out of pocket and spent too much of my stay trouble-shooting with the hotel receptionists/calling the host support line. Both hotel receptionists I worked with had other customers who experienced the same as me when booking through this host.
When I checked in, the hotel had my reservation but had received no payment, despite the funds leaving my account shortly after booking. Called the support line the host provided. I got an immediate answer and everyone I spoke with from Leavetown was polite. However, they were not very useful. Host provided credit card number, which was declined. Host said they would escalate to the accounts department and would call in the morning. Hotel put hold on my credit card in the meantime. We got no additional information, so I called host in the evening. Was reassured it was being taken care of.
When I went to check out, still nothing had been done. Called the host. Again they provided a credit card number and again it was declined. It wasn't until the host explained that card only had X amount (which was less than the hotel was charging and less than I paid). I was on the hook for the difference.
