Water Front Cape Style Cottage
Located on Green Pond, our cottage offers the best of both worlds: an oasis of peace and quiet that is still within striking distance of Portland, Freeport, the White Mountains and the Maine coast.
Our cape-style cottage sleeps up to ten people. There are three bedrooms, a full bath with tub/shower, and a full walk out basement with cement patio, awning and picnic table overlooking Green Pond. Our cottage has a well appointed galley kitchen with a full stove, refrigerator, microwave and other small appliances. There is a bright and airy dining and living room with 180 degree view of the pond and great outdoors. We provide a canoe, kayak, shared paddle and rowboat, gas grill for outdoor cooking and everything you'll need for your getaway except food. We do not supply linens (sheets) and towels. We do provide dish towels/clothes and bath mat/rug.
You can use our cottage as a home base to enjoy maine's blue skies in the summer, peep at spectacular foliage in the fall or ski and snowmobile in the winter.
We are located on the east shore of Green Pond in the town of Oxford, Maine. Our cottage sits in a beautiful pine-wooded setting on the shores of spring-fed Green Pond. The pond's sandy bottom and clear water are great for swimming, canoeing or fishing. Centrally located one hour from Portland, Freeport and the White Mountains, minutes from the Oxford casino, shopping, rock hounding, restaurants and the oxford plains speedway and dragway.

What a great place! Bring your own linnens! Nice quiet pond. Beautiful walking trail just down the road and no nonsense. Clean and comfortable. Everything you need for a comfortable stay upta camp!
Beautiful spot to enjoy the water. Host lives nearby a couple houses down. Lots of rules for cleaning etc but understandable that they want their property taken care of. We all had a great time and loved the access to boats and pet friendly
Very clean and comfortable. Even though it was just my husband and I staying there we had some folks drop in the celebrate my fathers 90th birthday and it was very accommodating. Very well stocked kitchen and the bed we slept in was very comfortable. Would love to be able to stay there in the summer but it is completely booked and I can understand why. Camps are far enough apart that you feel that you have privacy. Water was crystal clear. Have absolutely no complaints. Thank you Russ for your hospitality!

We had a great stay in this house! Absolutely loved sitting by the lake & listening to the birds. My bird ap heard about 25 different birds during our stay at the end of September. Just realized I was so busy enjoying the peaceful solitude that I didn't take any pics here.
We were in the area for a wedding & the rest of the family had booked hotel rooms around the corner @ Hampton & the casino so we gathered (with the owner's prior permission) for dinner here one night. The kitchen had what we needed to make spaghetti & a little salad bar & there was plenty of seating for 11 people to eat. Luckily there was also enough forks! I had brought paper plates but forgot forks. It was well stocked with cookware, utensils, dish soap & scrubbers, full size refrigerator. Oven/stove worked well.
There were so many water toys we would have used if it was warmer. Loved the collection of reading material on a table in the sitting area!
Although it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere at this house, and the only sounds are from the birds, it's not hard to find and not far from some stores or the wedding venue we went to at Wolff & Harp.
The shower was decent, plenty of hot water.
The listing says to bring sheets & towels, but if it said to bring blankets, I missed that. I only found 1 blanket in the house.
LOVE that there was a little receptacle to deposit veggie scraps & coffee grounds for the owner to add to their compost. And a bin outside for recycling.
We loved it was perfect. Even though you bring your own linens and towels. They furnished everything else some seasoning, kitchen items like paper towels, baggies of different sizes, liners for coffee pot bring your own coffee. Plus so much more.
Grandkids said best vacation ever, and caught a 14 in 3 lb large mouth bass. Awesome time.

terrible communication
Had a question for the owner, I first call and received a recording that didn't allow me to meet a message. Send several messages and return message said that my message would be delivered when this number was back online. I checked out on 9/22/2024 and finally received a texted from the owner today Tuesday 9/24/24. Not acceptable in my opinion. I felt like he/she received my money and didn't care to be available to us in anyway.
Very nice location and quiet and close to shopping. Contact with the owner none existing .After the first day his phone didn’t work and the last day I had a question left a message and now 4 days later still no phone call. Nice place but if something happens you on you own. Absolutely no good for people with steps problems even if you want to get to the lake and no beach only little deck.
Taking care of an autistic grandson is stressful so I treated myself to a 3-day weekend for just Me time. I went to sleep listening to hootie owls and woke up to calls of the loons. Nobody bothered me, it was lovely quiet, and I ate and slept when I felt like it. Loved it and wished that I could have stayed longer!
The cabin was quaint and the view was amazing! I honestly didn’t mind bringing our own sheets because it felt cleaner and more homey. I would warn to bring your own pillows as well though as the pillows provided were pretty flat and know in advance that the beds are not very comfortable. This probably isn’t an issue for a short stay though (we stayed two and a half months)! The owner was hospitable and helpful when needed. Thank you!!!
Perfect location for annual hardwater fishing trip. Plenty of space and beds. Good kitchen, plenty of dining space. Would stay again if in the area.

Simple, basic and beautiful setting:-)
My husband and I thought it strange to stay at a home with no sheets and towels provided. We have rented homes all over the United States, but we always have had sheets and towels provided. The other thing that struck us as odd was the fact that we had to clean the place afterwards. We always have left the places we have rented in good shape placing linens on washing machine and having dishes in dishwasher and counters all cleaned with all things placed back where they were as we found them. Never have we had to clean a place completely. We always paid a security deposit which has always been returned to us because we did a great job cleaning up. We were wondering what the fee was paying for? If the people before us did not do a good job cleaning, would the next guests have to stay in a dirty house? We thought that was an odd way to do business. The house was poorly stocked with little in the way of paper towels and toilet paper. There were virtually no spices or basic condiments in the cupboards to do any cooking. We cooked each night we were there and had to provide our own everything except pots and pans and dishes. The only reason we gave this place a three star was the setting was magnificent. We were able to entertain our family from Maine every night at the house. My husband and I met the neighbor each day as we went on walks on the lovely ridge. Our grown daughters came out with us as well because we were there to be a part of my husband's father's memorial service which was wonderful by the way. My father in law was a WW II tank driver in the South Pacific. We had a great visit with friends and family. If the cabin was stocked with some more spices and condiments, had a few more paper towels and toilet paper and people could choose to have linens and a house cleaner for a little higher rent-to us we would then stay there again. The living room needed a braided rug to make it a bit cozier.
