  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. Beautiful B&B — A real find

Absolutely loved our stay in this charming, well-appointed B&B in a fabulous location. The owner, Nikki, was an excellent communicator and went out of her way to accommodate us. Excellent service and suggestions. The room was beautiful, with every detail thought out. The place is on a busy street, however we were not bothered by noise (altho earplugs were provided, we did not need them). It was comfortable and spacious, with a gorgeous, large bathroom. Towels were very thick. Nikki has thought of everything. The wi-fi was strong and consistent — a real bonus when traveling for fun while still having to check in with the office. The only downside is that the rooms are accessible via a winding staircase, which could be a real challenge for those with mobility issues. Still, Maison Olive is a 10 for us and we would happily stay again and recommend to our friends.

Attentive, warm, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring a perfect experience. It made the entire stay feel personal and special. The location is ideal, close to the heart of Brugge, which makes exploring the city effortless while still enjoying a peaceful retreat. I can’t recommend this hotel enough for anyone looking for the best stay in Brugge. A delightful blend of comfort, style, and outstanding hospitality.

Maison Olive was absolutely perfect! It was a beautiful landing spot after a long day of traveling. Nikki was so kind and helpful with arranging a taxi and recommendations. The location was perfect as well. If I ever find my way back to Brugge, I will definitely be staying at Maison Olive again!

Fantastisk lille hotel/B&B. Meget smukke værelser i et fredeligt område af Brügge. Værten Nikki var utrolig venlig og meget hjælpsom med gode anbefalinger til middage/brunch og transport. Kæmpe anbefaling.
