Pelican -Buxton Weekend

The home is located in a quiet neighborhood and was perfect for our week-end get away. Very clean, well equipped and just a short walk to the beach. You won’t be disappointed if you rent this home!

OBX Buxton Stay (Early Oct 2024)

Booked house for short fishing trip in early Oct - House (Pelican) was very clean, well stocked with basic needs, and beds were good (sheets and towels were provided which was nice). Would stay again - no issues at all!

Pelican is a ten!

My family had a wonderful time at Pelican. It was our first time staying in Buxton as well and the extra drive time was well worth it! Everything was beautiful inside and out, decor and amenities! The welcome package from vacasa was very handy and appreciated. The beds were all different comfort levels and fit each of us perfectly, we slept very well! We had fun on the beach every single day, it was a fabulous location! Only thing we suggest is to replace the light by the outdoor shower as we believe was burnt out and made showering in the evening pretty difficult. Also need to beware the sandburs in the grass are painful you must have shoes on at all times and definitely have to remove before going upstairs so they don’t get caught in the carpet. Might help if the grass was kept short there would at least be less of them. Overall it was 10/10 thank you!!

Pelican is a 10!

Just little things

The house itself is a beautiful house but the couple things that got me were the listing says the whole house and shows a picture of this beautiful house it's actually one house split into two that isn't the biggest thing the post says steps from the beach this is a lie the Beach itself that is closest the house is closed due to oil spill and they are still cleaning it up I called vaccassa and VRBO and they told me if they said the beach was closed nobody would rent it so they knew the beach was closed so if you rent this house just check a few things before you do overall the house itself and the views are beautiful

Beautiful and clean

The home was beautiful and the check in and check out process was super simple. But the post was very misleading. The beach access as described in the post has been closed since September 2023 and the pool access is about a 15min drive away from home. The listing makes you think the pool is nearby with easy access, that is not the case. And for the beach closure due to hazardous petroleum on beach and erosion directly behind the home as well as closure of the parking lot mentioned in listing. This is EXTREMELY misleading. Only walking access from the property is located through a small path with a trampled fence with tripping hazards and no near by parking. For a family with a few members with mobility issues this would have been great information to have since this limited our beach time tremendously.

Great looking when you are inside until you start to pay attention to details

Overall we had a great time being in the area. Pros Newly refurbished Overall clean and has just about everything you need to get by and enjoy a good time. Plenty of room for a small to medium size family and loved the location it was at. Cons Customer service and local office needs to do a better job. Specially if someone is calling way ahead regarding early check-in. Maybe take a moment and see if the property has been recently used by someone else or has it been vacant and already cleaned so whoever checks in next doesn't have to wait till 5pm or hope they get lucky and gets a text about early check-in. Doesn't help with planning a trip. Make sure you have the right code sent out. It was really frustrating having to wait additional 40 minutes to get inside. Have a lot of things to fix but overall a good looking property. Work on customer service or else be ready to receive a lot of 3 stars or less on the reviews

Unit appears relatively new or rehabbed. Good size beds and kitchen for small family. Convenient location to beach and casual restaurants.
