Ein tolles, sehr schön eingerichtetes Haus in absoluter Ruhelage. Besonders schön ist die abendliche Aussicht auf das Leuchtfeuer. Der Vermieter sorgt gewissenhaft dafür, dass man das Anwesen in einem Top-Zustand vorfindet, und der Kontakt war immer sehr freundlich. Wir waren bei eher wechselhaftem Wetter im Januar da und haben die tägliche ,,Lichtshow am Himmel" samt Regenbogen und Sonnenuntergang sehr genossen. Das Haus ist ohne Einschränkung zu empfehlen, und wir fanden den Mietpreis angemessen. Die einzige Anregung, die wir zur Verbesserung hätten, wäre evtl. ein extra Heizlüfter im Bad für die Winterzeit und eine warme Einziehdecke für's Bett. Es waren aber reichlich Plaids und eine Heizung vorhanden, so dass wir nicht gefroren haben. Es ist überhaupt alles da, was man sich wünschen kann. Wir bedanken uns noch einmal sehr herzlich bei Orlando und kommen gerne wieder.

Peaceful and quiet

This was our second time staying at Casa Farol. We spent three weeks here, the last two weeks in February and the first week in March.The house is very comfortable and spacious.We shared the house with our daughter and teenage granddaughter for one of the weeks.The house is situated in a small village on the southwest part of the island. The house has great views of the Farol lighthouse at Ponta do Pargo and cliff oceon views.The location suited us because it was quiet but accessible to many locations on the island.There is some building construction going on in the village but did not cause any concerns for us.The house is approximately one hours drive from Funchal. Within a short drive is a grocery store, several restaurants and a pharmacy.Orlando was very responsive and an excellent host.

A Base to Explore Madeira

My wife and I very much enjoyed our brief stay at Casa Farol and hope we can return soon - maybe with our two adult children and their partners as there is plenty of space. The view remained magnificent despite a small temporary crane for building a house otherwise hidden below on the slope. Casa Farol - the house itself was first rate - the appointments (kitchen items, bedding, etc.) were more than adequate but below luxury. We were glad we chose this property as our base (rather than Funchal) to explore small seaside villages, go hiking in the mountains, etc. We had very good communication with the host who we could tell cares much about the property and our stay as guests.

Great views and privacy

Nicely equipped house with great views! Stayed here for five nights in October. It is a quieter side of the island but can still reach Funchal in a reasonable time and not far from a number of great places in western Madeira. Markets and restaurants within ten minutes. The house sits on a cliff overlooking the sea with great views (and occasional fierce wind). There was a crane/ construction in the house in front down below during some daytime hours that had minimal sound but should soon be over. The house has everything you need for a very nice holiday and the owner communicated well. Gorgeous sunsets!

Atemberaubende Aussicht und absolute Ruhe

Casa Farol war ein absoluter Traum! Das Ferienhaus liegt auf einer beeindruckenden Steilklippe auf rund 480 Metern über dem Meer, und die Aussicht ist einfach atemberaubend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die absolute Ruhe, nachts hört man nur das Zirpen der Zikaden, den Wind und, wenn die Wellen grob genug sind, das Rauschen des Meeres. Das Haus wirkt von außen kleiner, als es tatsächlich ist. Besonders die große Küche und die großzügigen Räume haben uns beeindruckt. Die Aufteilung ist hervorragend: Die Schlafzimmer befinden sich oben, und das Hauptschlafzimmer hat sogar ein eigenes Bad. Ein kleiner Verbesserungspunkt wären die Matratzen, die etwas durchgelegen sind, aber wir haben trotzdem gut geschlafen. Ein Highlight waren die süßen Hasen im Gras vor dem Haus, der freundliche Hund des (vermutlich) Nachbarn, der uns jeden Abend auf der Terrasse begrüßt hat, und die weiße Eule, die uns fast jeden Abend beobachtete. Einziger Wermutstropfen war die Baustelle mit einem Kran direkt vor dem Haus (Stand September 2024), die werktags von 8 bis 18 Uhr etwas Lärm verursachte. Da wir tagsüber unterwegs waren, hat uns das jedoch nicht gestört. Bald wird die Baustelle verschwinden, und man kann den vollen Blick auf den Ozean genießen. Ein großer Dank geht an Orlando für die unkomplizierte Kommunikation. Wir haben uns in Casa Farol rundum wohl gefühlt und können das Ferienhaus nur wärmstens empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Beautiful location

We enjoyed spending two weeks at Casa Farol. The house is quite spacious and welcoming. It has wonderful views of the Farol lighthouse. We enjoyed some beautiful sunsets, as the house faces due west over the ocean. The area is quite rural and very quiet. The village has no amenities so a car is necessary. Orlando was great to communicate with us. We would recommend this house and hope to return next year.

All round enjoyable experience!

Everything was as described. Orlando is very attentive and responsive - we didn't require anything, but felt that Orlando was always prepared to assist if needed. The house and the view are at least as good as the images, if not better. We also appreciated the peace and quiet. We are already planning to return next year!

Großer Ferienwohnung mit wunderbarer Aussicht

Wir haben unsereren Madeira Urlaub in diesem sehr schönen Haus wirklich genossen. Für sechs Personen ist sehr viel Platz. Die wunderschöne Terasse bietet einen einzigartigen Blick über die Küste. Die Umgebung ist ruhig und ideal zum Entspannen geeignet. Das Haus ist sauber und gut eingerichtet. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war super und sehr schnell.

Traumhafte Sonnenuntergänge

Wir verbrachten 3 Wochen im House Lighthouse und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen, hat ein sehr schönes Ambiente und ist ein wunderbarer Platz zur Erholung. Highlight des Objekts ist der Garten mit der spektakulären Aussicht und den traumhaften Sonnenuntergängen. Man findet im Garten immer eine schattige Ecke, wo man Entspannen kann. Wir hatten die ganze Zeit schönes Wetter und haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen. Sehr angenehm war auch der Kontakt zum Vermieter, der bei Fragen online immer zur Verfügung stand und sich umgehend gekümmert hat. Wir würden dieses Objekt wieder buchen!

Wonderful property with gorgeous views : total bliss !

This was our first ever trip to Madeira and I'm ashamed that it took me so long to find this jewel of an island. It is a stunning place with jaw dropping scenery. Now the property. Firstly, you would struggle to find a more friendly, prompt and efficient owner than Orlando. Communication through VRBO and whats-app was a breeze and he was always available to offer advice, be it on the location of a supermarket or weather or where to find an adapter ( I had stupidly left mine at home). His brother Nelio manages the property and he also left his number but we didn't have to call him for any issues. The description and amenities are accurate and the photos don't do justice. The unobstructed vista is truly mind-blowing and the drama every evening at sunset is a must watch. The sky is so clear at night with the milky way easily visible. The house is not overlooked at all and the solitude is exactly what you need to unwind. It is a reverse design with the sitting area and kitchen downstairs. Plenty of natural light. Rooms are spacious with ample storage space. Beds and pillows firm. Large bathrooms. Shower pressure excellent. Hot water always available. Kitchen is more than adequate with a modern induction hob., decent size fridge, plenty of crockery. Only a small issue is that we could do with a slightly bigger toaster. Nelio had very kindly left some fruits, water, oil and more importantly a pack of min-Coral beer for us. It all came very handy. Plenty of lizards around to give you company. A pair of kestrels live nearby and I spotted buzzards as well. Small garden with fresh rosemary that I used when cooking my pasta . A large fruiting fig tree was there for us to enjoy. Faja da Ovelha is a tiny village in the north west region. I was a little worried about its distance to the airport but I could easily make it in an hour. The road from Funchal all the way is well lit proper VE apart from last couple of KM which is a bit narrow and steep, but one would expect that in Madeira. A car is of course mandatory. We shopped mostly at the Pingo Doce supermarket at Calheta. About 15-20 minutes. BP gas station 10 minutes. The lounge is spacious with smart TV and wi-fi was quite good. The driveway is a bit narrow if you have a big car and perhaps it is better to leave the car just near the entrance rather than bringing it down. My Dacia Santro was fine. I honestly have no issues with the property and the owner at all. Highly recommended.

Light, airy and comfortable

The house was large and airy, and very tastefully decorated. It also had both a washing machine and a dishwasher which made life easy for us. We enjoyed the ability of eating breakfast outside with a marvelous view of the Atlantic ocean. With the five of us it was a blessing to have three toilets and to have two showers, however if you are shy it is worth noting not all toilets have locks. It was also very easy to park both of our rental cars just by the front door. The downside was that we were not informed of the fee for cleaning until after we had paid the booking in full. It wasn't a dealbreaker for us, but something we would have preferred to know beforehand so that we could have included it in our budget. The only reason we didn't give the location give stars is because it was somewhat far from good restaurants and shopping, but if you want peace and quiet the location is ideal.

Wunderbar

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt. Das Haus ist stilvoll und mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Alles was man benötigt um entspannt zu kochen ist da. Das Schönste ist die Aussicht von allen Zimmern , selbst beim kochen schaut man auf das Meer.. Den Sonnenuntergang kann man super entspannt auf der Terasse genießen.. Wir konnten viele wunderbare Ausflüge vom Haus aus starten und es gibt sehr gute Restaurants mit Madairaküche in der Nähe(max. 10-15 min mit dem Auto). Was uns am meisten beeindruckt hat, war die absolute Ruhe.

Small piece of heaven on earth

We loved our stay in casa Farol. The house is clean, comfortable with all you need and plenty of space. The view is breath taking and such a peaceful spot. Our host was very helpful and super flexible, which was the icing on the cake that made the stay overall a very positive experience.

Eine coole Liegenschaft + ein toller Vermieter = fantastische Ferien

Die Liegenschaft liegt abseits vom Rummel auf 450 m über Meer mit einer Traumsicht auf eben dieses. Das Raumangebot und die Einrichtung haben unseren Ansprüchen vollumfänglich entsprochen. Casa Farol ligger helt formidabelt, med en indretning og udsigt så man næsten har svært ved at forlade huset.... I huset forefindes alt hvad man har brug for. Superbe Villa au calme

Une très jolie villa à la décoration sobre et soignée. Beaucoup d'espace et de confort, et bien sûr une vue à couper le souffle. Peut-être un micro climat, nous avons toujours eu du ciel bleu en août alors qu'il pleuvait parfois ou que le ciel était couvert un peu plus loin. L'endroit est très calme, peu de voitures, et aucun bruit le soir à part les vagues au loin. On a l'impression d'être au bout du monde! Bon accueil d'Orlando, le propriétaire. Malgré une arrivée très tardive suite au retard de notre avion, nous avons pu entrer dans la villa à 3h du matin! En couple avec 2 enfants, nous avons passé un excellent séjour de deux semaines. Ravitaillement facile au Pingo Doce de Calheta. Nous conseillons également le restaurant Joe's Bar à Jardim do Mar à quelques km. Merci à Orlando et Maria pour cette très jolie villa.

Großartige Aussicht und großzügiges, gut ausgestattetes sauberes Haus. Sehr gute Betreuung.

Wir haben das Domizil mit 4 Personen (2 Ehepaare) genutzt. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die freie Aussicht in alle Richtungen auf das Meer und die Küsten entlang ist grandios. Die nächsten Häuser stören die Aussicht in keiner Weise. Das Gebäude hat viel Platz besonders in der Küche und im Wohnbereich, ist modern, großzügig ausgestattet und sauber. Die Aussenanlagen mit geschütztem (elektrisches Rolltor) Stellplatz fürs Auto auf dem Grundstück und Terrasse zusätzlich zu den Balkonen bieten ausreichend viel Platz zum Aufenthalt, Essen und Sonnen. Die Betreuung ist sehr zuvorkommend, kümmernd und freundlich. Wir hatten den Wunsch nach einem Grill, am nächsten Tag war er da. Für uns ist dieses Domizil eine echte Empfehlung.

Une maison pour vos vacances à Madère : venez ici !

Nous rentrons d'une semaine de vacances (mi-avril) et nous avons découvert cette ile formidable et hébergé dans cette magnifique maison. Propriétaire prévenant, la maison correspond parfaitement aux photos. La localisation a un double intérêt : la vue de lamaison est à couper le souffle et lorsqu'il pleuvait à Funchal, il faisait toujours beau à Faja da Ovelha. Tout dans cette maison est fait pour s'y sentir bien : c'est décoré avec goût, la maison est spacieuse, c'est construit de tel sorte que vous êtes à l'abri de tous les regards, bref : j'ai adoré.

Großzügiges Haus für Familien mit guter Ausstattung

Wir haben in diesem Ferienhaus 11 Tage im Januar verbracht und können nur positives berichten. Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war schon im Voraus herzlich und unkompliziert. Wir erhielten sofort Hilfe bei der Anfahrt (das erste Mal findet sich das Haus etwas schwierig) und würden herzlich vor Ort empfangen. Das Haus bot mehr als genügend Platz für uns Vier- im oberen Stockwerk finden sich 3 Schlafzimmer (für je 2 Leute) sowie 2 vollausgestattete Bäder. Im Erdgeschoss gibt es ein riesiges Wohnzimmer mit Blick auf die Terasse und den Ozean! Die Küche ist funktionell, gut ausgestattet und ebenfalls großzügig geschnitten. In der angrenzenden Waschküche gibt es eine Waschmaschine, die Wäsche kann im Hof getrocknet werden. Das Highlight des Hauses ist sicher die große Terasse mit Blick auf den Ozean und den Leuchtturm. Wir haben gezielt dieses Haus gewählt, da es gerade für Kleinkinder und Babies relativ sicher ist (es hat zwar Treppen, aber zB keinen Pool). Für Familien mit (kleinen) Kindern also absolut eine Empfehlung! Einziger Nachteil: Es gibt keine Heizung, es ist also relativ kühl im Winter (17-18 Grad), was für kleine Krabbelkinder schon ein Problem ist. Aber auch hier wurde uns prompt geholfen- wir bekamen eine kleine Heizung, sodass wir zumindest den unteren Teil des Hauses etwas wärmer bekamen- in den Schlafräumen war es aber weiterhin sehr kühl. Der Vermieter erwähnte, hier in Zukunft nachzurüsten und weitere Heizungen bzw Heizlüfter zu stellen. Der Ort ist sehr schön gelegen- mehrere Wanderwege sind ganz in der Nähe. Der nächste Supermarkt ist ca 10 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt. Vom Flughafen fährt man ca eine Stunde dorthin. Einen Badestrand mit Sand gibt es ca 20 min. Entfernt in Calheta- dort ist auch ein weiterer, größerer Supermarkt. Als Basis für Erkundungen der Insel absolut schön gelegen. Sehr empfehlenswert, gerade für Familien.

Good reaction after cancelled flight

Unfortunately, we have not been to faja da ovelha yet. our flight to madeira was cancelled last minute, because members of the flight company were striking. we tried to get another flight, but were not successful. We called maria and told her that it was impossible for us to get to madeira. She reacted very friendly and helpful and promptly offered us a credit - so that we can stay the one week we already have paid for some other time this year or next year in the house. we are looking forward to stay at the casa farol in faja da ovelha and get to know maria and her family.
