We were looking for a home to rent that would be centrally located to beaches and restaurants and the small towns on the coast of Maine. The house is located in Northport, which is between Belfast and Lincolnville. Camden is only another 10 minutes south of Lincolnville. There is a small grocery store/sandwich/ice cream shop in walking/biking distance, but other than that you have to drive everywhere.
The porch outside the bedrooms is lovely. The porch outside the living room is HOT in the summer. There is no umbrella for shade making it unbearable to sit outside during the long beautiful days and the view is of the property’s dumpster.
There is only seating in the living room for four adults comfortably and 6 at the dining room table. There are only 4 coffee cups and not a lot of dishes, so you should pack your own if you are more people.
We saw on the listing that the house does not provide anything for outdoor activities so we were prepared. You need to bring games or anything you might want to do inside, too.
There are no dressers in any of the rooms so you can’t unpack. There were also no nightstands in the loft bedroom.
During our stay the ice maker stopped working. We called and texted the property manager and got no response. This was a major hassle to buy ice everyday.
The biggest issue we had is the iron in the water. They have “iron out” to put in your white laundry but the iron in the water turned everything orange. The inside of the shower, my mom’s blonde hair, our clothes, etc. The home needs a water filtration system. There is filtered water in the refrigerator, thankfully.
Pros - nice house with great room/open living centrally located to driving to places. Reasonably priced.
Cons - all of the above.
