Quiet and safe neighborhood
Pros: Very clean. There is a king size bed and a queen size in the room. The room has a small kitchen area with stove, and cooking utensils. The water in the shower was hot, and they provide body wash and shampoo. There is also a safe in the room. There’s also a nice little sitting area outside. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Uber rides to most places was around $3-6 usd. There is a ferry terminal that goes to Isle Mujeres right across the street from the condo.
Cons: This is condo, so there is no front desk, and no area to drop your bags if you arrive early. Figuring out the keypad on the front door, and lockbox was a challenge. Getting ahold of the host was difficult. They didn’t answer messages through the app, and they didn’t answer the phone number provided. After some research though, they communicate through WhatsApp and they are quick responding through WhatsApp. They speak English, so that was a plus. Another issue is the unit is on the ground floor, which isn’t a problem, but there aren’t really curtains. It’s a sun shade of some sort, but it’s completely sheer so anyone who happens to be outside can see in the room. That’s an issue if you don’t have clothes on, or are wanting intimacy with your partner.
Would I stay here again? Probably. It was comfortable and safe, and the quiet was a nice break from the craziness of the hotel zone main areas. But if you stay, get dressed in your bathroom and use WhatsApp to communicate with the host.
