Our experience at this property was mixed. We arrived to dirty dishes, dirty towels, and debris in the yard. We also had difficulty connecting to the internet with the provided password, and ran out of hot water twice during our stay. We reported these items to the property manager and we were reimbursed the amount of our cleaning fee. We later learned there was a significant flood in the area, roughly 7 months prior to our stay, which explained the debris in both the yard and the surrounding area. At one time there was a pavilion and trout pond on the property, both highlighted in the books at the property and referenced in the content online. We were informed after booking that the trout pond was under construction. Fishing poles are provided, but I'm not sure they would be effective if you actually caught something. We ended up making an extra trip to town and purchasing our own. The trip times for us were closer 25 min into Waynesville and 45 into Asheville. There may be spots in those towns that are quicker to arrive at, but sharing our experience for future renters. Being at the property was restful and you could easily keep yourself occupied there. It's a beautiful home, showing some wear from age, use, and the flood. After looking at the older pictures, and seeing the reminisce of the pavilion, we would have loved to have visited the property five years ago during the summer months.
