Spectacular cabin in the mountains
Cabin exceeded our high expectations. Everything was perfect. Comfy beds, hot showers, fully stocked kitchen, linens, comforters, bath accessories, they thought of everything. The reviews are fabulous and still dont due this place and host justice. Highly recommend.

Great getaway cabin

Quintessential Cabin in the Woods
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience; a cozy cabin in the woods!! I told the owner, but I will say it again, the fact that she had 100% cotton sheets listed in her description was what sold me. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen fully stocked, the fire pit ready. We can’t wait to come back again in other seasons and enjoy this fabulous log cabin. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Amazing mountain home and location!
Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was extremely comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The location was truly incredible and the area was so quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of time on the porch taking in the beautiful view. And our kids spent a lot of time playing games and hanging out in the lower level. The owners were so welcoming and easy to communicate with. It was like the comfort of staying at a friends house with the luxuries of a nice hotel. Can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Getaway!
What an amazing stay we had! We are still dreaming of our time at Susan and Kevin's property. Wonderfully appointed, and so cozy and inviting. We loved spending time exploring the property and taking in the fresh mountain air. Close to many outdoor activities, beautiful waterfalls and the lovely town of Waynesville. We will be back!

Wonderful stay and hosts!
Our stay was wonderful from the time we booked up until we left! Susan and Kevin were such great hosts! Susan always kept us updated and provided with so much needed information about local places to visit and such! The house was very clean and cozy! The bed sheets and towels were very clean and fresh! Kevin met us at the gate and showed us up to the cabin. Susan warmly greeted us at the cabin. They provided us with everything to makes smores! It was a nice way to rest by the fire outside after our long drive. The sauna was amazing!!! The view from the decks were so beautiful, with mountains peeking at us. They provided routes to gorgeous view of the mountains and waterfalls!!! We absolutely loved our stay! On the day we were leaving, Susan brought us delicious homemade cookies!! And did I mention Susan gifted us her homemade jams? Absolutely delicious!!! The one very important thing to keep in mind, is you NEED a four wheel drive car!! Otherwise you wont be able to drive up their driveway. Its very steep. They did mention it to us, and made sure we had one. once we booked. But I didn't see it in other peoples reviews and didn't know before hand. Unless i didn't notice it in the description. Luckily we had an all wheel drive car. Overall a great experience! Thank you so much Susan and Kevin! We hope to visit you again!!!

Fantastic Home Base!
Our stay at Shining Rock Cabins was fantastic from the moment we received the welcome email to our last minutes on the property. Susan and Kevin are an amazing duo at helping us feel at home, while giving us lots of tips about places to visit, and trails to hike. The property was well maintained, with beautiful views, and provides wonderful accommodations. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Shining Rock Cabins, and will be booking again!

Perfect cabin in the woods
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can not wait to come back. The hosts were so accommodating and even dropped off fresh jams and vegetables from her garden. Our dogs loved the big and safe yard and our children loved the freedom of playing alone outside as well. Could not recommend this cabin any more. Will say, the wifi was spotty (as is every where in that area) which made us spend more time together reading and playing games…. We loved it!! Great location between a regard and Waynesville. Couldn’t ask for a better stay.

A perfect home, with great hosts, in an incredible location!
My wife, her parents and our two dogs spent an idyllic two weeks at the most beautiful VRBO home of our hosts Susan and Kevin. The house is immaculate and was supplied with all the necessities including towels, bed linens, a fully stocked kitchen, an outdoor BBQ and so much more! The location could not be better. The home is situated off route 276 about a 10-minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the amazing scenic overlooks and hiking trails off the Parkway! We hiked to the top of Mount Pisgah, Black Balsam Knob and several other trails that were within a twenty-minute drive from the property. You will also be 20 minutes from charming Waynesville (think Mayberry RFD) and about 40 minutes from Asheville. While the home does not have air conditioning, you do not need one! We rented from July 11th to July 22nd and the average temperature during the day was about 75 degrees and at night in the mid to low 60s. The mountain air is cool and dry and all of us commented that we slept the best we have in a long time. Every room has window and ceiling fans. Even though you may see higher temperatures on weather apps, these predictions do not consider that the property is about 3700 feet above sea level and with the altitude, comes cool mountain air! If you like to take a sauna, the home is equipped with a wonderful sauna that easily accommodates 4 persons and heats up rapidly. We brought our two large dogs and there are numerous trails/old logging roads, throughout the 65-acre parcel that were perfect for morning and afternoon walks. If you enjoy fishing you are a short drive/walk to the East Fork of the Pigeon River, which is full of trout! As a bonus the home is 10 minutes from a delightful Country Club/Golf Course that is opened to the public. We enjoyed two memorable dinners at the club! And finally, Susan and Kevin are remarkable hosts! They know the area well and can answer any questions you may have. They are friendly, warm, and genuine folks who truly made our experience one to remember! We cannot wait to return to this gem of a home!

Pisgah National Forest Getaway
Lovely property to unwind. Closest rental to Pisgah National Forest. Countless outdoor activities, safe trails, waterfalls, and wildlife. House was immaculately maintained with an abundance of reading material and family games. But the best part of the stay were the Hosts.

Best Rental Ever

Location is beautiful. The owners are wonderful and think of all the little things. The view is gorgeous and it’s secluded and quiet. The yard is large as well. It also has easy access to hiking, waterfalls, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Waynesville. Waynesville has cute shops and good food. Don’t forget to check out the Jukebox for lunch and dessert.

A Week to Remember
This property exceeded our expectations and Kevin and Susan were beyond friendly and accommodating. The cabin was perfect and met all our needs. It was exceptionally clean and fully stocked. The hosts definitely pay attention to detail to make sure the guests feel comfortable and welcome. The property was large with plenty of room for our children to run around and explore. The views were spectacular, and the location was very private. We were all able to unplug relax, and enjoy the quiet. My husband and I can not say enough about our time here. Incredible Family Getaway
Our family is from Myrtle Beach and like to come up to the mountains a few times a year to enjoy nature and unplug. This was our first time staying on this property and we absolutely loved our time there. Our two young children and old dog loved the cabin and the wonderful yard as well as the hiking available right on the property. We could have stayed at the cabin the whole time but the location was so convenient, we’re we’re able to easily get out and explore the Pisgah and it’s incredible offerings. Lastly, I can’t speak highly enough of our hosts. Truly kind and accommodating folks. Can’t wait to come back!

BEST STAY EVER!!!!!
Unbelievable accommodations , hospitality, and very comfortable house... no detail left out. Of course you're surrounded by nature, so in another words it's just what the doctor ordered! Listen to the river, breath the freshest air and relax. No neighbors around for miles. Don't want to say too much, because we want the place all to ourselves.

Great vacation home!
My wife and I stayed this cabin end of July. This is perfect vacation for us. Nice and quiet location and great view with humming birds. We enjoyed Trails and Blue Ridge Parkway with short drive. An amazing property, wonderful stay!
What an amazing property and wonderful stay we had! My wife and I stayed with another couple and completely enjoyed our visit. The owners were incredible and awesome in every way, and quick with advice and suggestions to help improve our experience. The house was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed, they even stocked some extras in case we forgot things. It was very clean and well kept. They had a humming bird feeder which provided plenty of relaxing entertainment on the gorgeous back pouch and we watched scores of humming birds jockey for food. The location was private, quiet and a relaxing get away. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness!

Lovely property!
This cabin is lovely. It is secluded, quiet, spacious with great views. It is so nicely decorated and by far is the best outfitted rental we have ever stayed at (plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc-even stuff to make smores by the firepit!). The location is close to Asheville, Brevard, Sliding Rock, The Blue Ridge Parkway and numerous hiking trails. The owners Kevin and Susan are the best, so gracious, kind and attententive. Perfect Mountain Getaway!
I cannot say enough good things. Kevin and Susan went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The location was fantastic for what we were looking for! We came to the mountains seeking nature, peace, views and a comfortable cabin. We enjoyed several hikes on world class trails (just a mile down the road), a drive on the blue ridge parkway, fun in waterfalls in the “land of the waterfalls” and a beautiful scenic drive every time we left to go somewhere on gorgeous US 276. We didn’t come there to be in towns but if someone wanted to there are several good choices within driving distance. We did go into Brevard to get to mountain biking trails at DuPont state forest and they were fantastic. My family (2 adults, 3 kids) enjoyed backyard fires, cooking in a comfortable kitchen, relaxing on the deck and playing catch in the yard in the evenings. If you are seeking solitude and time in the wilderness, check this place out!

Mountain Paradise
My wife and I were in the area for a family reunion and needed a place to stay nearby for the weekend. We are very familiar with the area, as our family has resided nearby over 40 years. This property was amazing. The location, the home itself, the decor, landscaping, and the thoughtful amenities, including fresh cut wildflower arrangements, were spectacular. An added bonus was the hospitality and warmth of our thoughtful and attentive hosts. Once we were tucked into this warm, comfortable, well appointed mountain home we didn't want to leave. Because of our family commitments we were not able to spend as much time on the property as we would have liked, but we recognized it is an ideal vacation retreat for a romantic couples weekend or a family gathering. We would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a visit to this beautiful part of North Carolina.

The perfect get away
My family stayed for a week in this beautiful cabin. It was a wonderful stay. We had 2 adults and 4 children (ranging from 6 years to 17 years). We all had an amazing time. The cabin itself is so beautiful and clean and felt very spacious. I was incredibly impressed with the attention to detail-- the kids really loved the Smores kit that was ready to go and the waffle maker. I loved all the little extra touches, like the decorative lights that were on the front porch and back porch that came on every evening/night. Every time we would drive up to the cabin, I felt like it was the perfect retreat-- private but very spacious and safe for the kids to explore in all different directions. Additionally, Susan was the most amazing hostess you could imagine. It felt like talking to a good friend, and she gave us great ideas and directions for places to visit (off the beaten path). I highly recommend this cabin and location if you are looking to feel at home away from home. I can't wait to go back!

Pictures do not do the cabin justice! It is secluded but still close to Waynesville, Canton, Brevard and Maggie Valley. Owners are extremely friendly and respond quickly to any need you may have. Cabin had everything we needed. Very clean!

This was one of the best properties I have ever stayed at. The cabin was perfect for us and two dogs. The back deck was my favorite part - very clean and welcoming - especially the porch swing! All of the little touches inside from makeup wipes, games and smores fixings made it very special. The location is within a few miles of Blue Ridge Parkway which made it very easy and scenic to get both to Asheville and to all of the trails for hiking. A great place to escape and just enjoy the outdoors!

First and foremost, we had an amazing time in this quiet and peaceful place. The owners had everything nailed. Beautiful setting, comfortable bed and loved, loved, LOVED the covered deck and the porch swing where we spent our morning doing our devotions, talking and enjoying the hummingbirds.

Hiking Vacation in Pisgah
We had such a wonderful stay. The homeowners were gracious and helpful. The house is in a perfect location to get away from it all, just outside of the Shining Rock Wilderness and minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There were multiple trail options a short distance away. The property is large so you feel completely in your own paradise. The porch was perfect for morning coffee and evening wine or beer. The kitchen and house have everything you need. We enjoyed the book and game collection as well. The Wifi was minimal, but that was good for us. It made us disconnect from work and the real world which we all needed. We definitely want to come back.

Beautiful cabin surrounded by national forest on the lower slopes of Cold Mtn. Minutes to many great hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Even in August it never got hot enough that we wished for air conditioning. The owner is very responsive to needs or concerns. Very comfortable beds and house is well appointed with lots of little artistic touches. We will definitely consider a return visit!

Majestic Mountain Views and Homely Hospitality
My wife and I were in need of a getaway and found this lovely property owned by Susan and Kevin. They were so fast to answer our questions and were so willing to make our stay absolutely perfect. The amenities all worked perfectly! They even had us supplied with pancake mix, coffee, S'mores ingredients, and fresh firewood for a campfire. The cabin had a dry sauna which was relaxing after long days of hiking. There was plenty of room on the property to walk around. The property was in very close proximity to major hiking trails. We could not have been more pleased. Thank you so much Susan and Kevin! We would love to come back if you will have us!

I would highly recommend this cabin. Owners are amazing, the cabin was clean, and decorated very cute, stocked with more items than any VRBO I have stated at in the past. Loved being surrounded by Mother Nature.

WONDERFUL, SECLUDED CABIN
This was one of the most beautiful cabins we have ever stayed at. The peace and quiet that I needed away from work. And just a stones throw away from wonderful mountain trails, waterfalls, and Ashville.

Simply relaxing
We were looking for a quite place to relax and we found it. Beautiful views from the porch. We really enjoyed the sauna also. We had a good time visiting nearby towns. The location of the cabin makes it a good jumping off point for many activities in the area. Just make sure you drive your 4WD or AWD vehicle because the driveway is steep and not paved. The king bed upstairs is very comfortable. The kitchen is more than adequately stocked with cooking supplies. Our hosts were so kind and attentive. We really could not have asked for a better place to get away from the hustle and bustle.
