Before writing this review, I want to say that we rented this place in Maine the week after Labor Day. I am not sure if this contributed to the issues (because it was not during the summer season).
The house has the potential to be beautiful. The kitchen area is wonderful - large, well equipped, and updated. The location is excellent.
From there, we had issues. One of the questions I asked before renting, and always ask, is are there air conditioners in the bedrooms. I will never rent a place that is not air conditioned. I was assured all 3 bedrooms had AC. And it was advertised as a home with AC. Well, the rooms had room air conditioners, all of which were removed from the windows and in a closet. We were there with my sister and brother-in-law and all of us are over 70. Putting an AC in the window was not possible. Especially without the proper tools. Additionally, one of the bedrooms didn't even have screens, so opening the window wasn't possible. The day time temperatures reached 84 degrees, which is unusual for Maine, but I know Maine weather, and know those temperatures are not impossible. One of the bedrooms registers 90 degrees at night.
I also asked about easily accessible bathrooms to the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is up a steep set of stairs and there is no bathroom. None of us are physically comfortable going up and down stairs in the middle of the night. I understand that for some this is fine, but I do wish we would have been told this.
Finally, the house sits on a beautiful pond. But there was nowhere to sit and no chairs to move down to the water's edge to sit down.
Earlier in the summer, we stayed in a place in Windham which was perfect and had all the amenities as advertised.
