On initial arrival at Villa Virginia the property most definitely will not disappoint, particularly the patio and pool area, and the stunning panoramic view.
The villa itself is secluded, relatively modern, large, and well-appointed with a nicely planted/landscaped garden. The generous ‘exterior living’ space has plenty of furniture for sunbathing and outdoor dining, including a built-in pizza oven and barbecue, and most importantly a reasonably sized private pool which is relatively shallow - ideal for children. There is also an outdoor shower (hot/cold water) and a toilet/washroom.
The indoor living and dining area is comfortable and spacious, as is the kitchen which has its own central table and chairs – a convivial setup. All bedrooms are reasonably sized, with two larger master bedrooms, and have comfortable beds. Every bedroom has an ensuite toilet/shower facility (one bedroom also includes a bath).
Air-conditioning is present in all rooms and was a welcome reprieve from the summer heat, particularly overnight in the bedrooms. WiFi is included and this reaches all parts of the villa and most of the patio and gives reasonable speed/reliability.
The entire property was clean and tidy on arrival and was kept that way throughout our stay (thanks to Elvira: see below).
The entrance from the road is through a secure electrically operated gate and leads to a shaded parking space for two cars with additional parking available on the opposite side of the road. The road runs, effectively, behind the property but is little used and unobtrusive. In fact, noise generally is not an issue as the surroundings are very peaceful with just the occasional cow bell or distant tractor disturbing the sense of tranquility.
Elvira, the lady who attends the villa daily (except Sundays) at around lunchtime to clean, tidy the outside space and tend to the pool, is marvelous. She is very diligent, very discreet, and yet enthusiastically helpful when her help is asked for. The cleanliness and tidiness of this expansive property is a credit to her hard work. While Elvira does not speak English (our limited Italian is very rusty so now extremely limited), she is a dab hand at using Google Translate on her phone and we communicated using this medium quite successfully.
Other guests have reported that you can walk to the nearest supermarket (Conad – small but well stocked and reasonably priced) and/or restaurant, but we struggled with the hill in the summer heat -
