"The Thistle Inn was the perfect stop for the night. We were greeted by the owner and the room was cool and quiet. Exactly what we needed after a long drive. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Michelle is very pleasant and enjoyed talking about the area with great recommendations for other places to visit."

"The hotel itself is lovely. Sadly the dining room and bar are closed but the hotel side is open for business! Clean rooms, comfy bed and delightful host. "A lovely county castle surrounded by Belted Galloway cattle and sheep. The castle grounds have a fruit trees, herbs and vegetables. Tobias is truly a wonderful gentleman and host. He prepared an amazing breakfast both mornings which consisted of local flavors ( haggis, blood pudding, potato cakes, eggs, bacon and sausage). Tobias gave us a tour of the chapel and grand hall with interesting history. Baron James prepared a formal dinner which was also delicious. We are Maxwell descendants by DNA...

Fairfield House - Ayr

10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay for four nights with breakfast. The room was enormous and the bathroom had everything you could want in there. Bed was comfortable, nice selection of instant teas and coffees in the room. The staff were lovely, particularly the hosts of breakfast and the breakfast selection was excellent. It's a short walk from the beach and into the town for shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you to all the staff who work in this hotel. "
