Our mill is on the outskirts of the village of Champagne et Fontaine, in the Southwest of France. The Moulin La Vergne is a newly renovated 18th century water mill located on the river Lizonne.
The room is a private flat with all essential amenities and a homely feel, situated directly over the historical water run which flows through the building.
Our location is quiet and rural, offering a peaceful and tranquil opportunity to recharge batteries and unwind.
The space
This apartment is a self contained double bedroomed flat, with a private entrance, sofa and TV area; as well as everything you need for self catering with a breakfast bar overlooking the river and woods.
Our nearest town is Villebois Lavelette, which boasts a medieval chateau of interest. Here you can also find our local supermarket, about a 12 min drive as well as cafes, restaurants, and a weekly food market.
Our immediate area is beautiful, rural countryside, great for walking and biking with stunning views. This is a place to reconnect with nature. Being on the river we attract many varieties of wildlife, including Deer, Boar, Corpu, as well as many wild birds.
Other towns of Aubeterre and Brantome are close by, with kayaking, paragliding and historical buildings.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF SO MUCH WATER, WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12.
Guest access
You will be able to self check in via our shared reception room. This flat is on the first floor via a shared staircase, with a private front door to your self contained flat.
You are welcome to enjoy the river and outside areas surrounding the property, at your own risk and with water safety in mind. We also have a large terrace,
bridge and field which is available for all guests.
There is also a wood fired hot tub that is available to book by messaging us. We can then arrange the extra €20 charge and a time to meet you, complete your waiver form and explain how it works.
Other things to note
Please be aware of the noise of the water in this room. As it is directly over the river this should be expected year around.
