My favorite cathedral. Not only is the stained glass incredible, the cathedral also has Malcolm Miller. Take his 75-minute tour and you will never look at a cathedral the same way again. Mr. Miller has been guiding here since 1958. Yes, you read that right. 1958. 59 years. Mr. Miller has literally written the book on Chartres. The 12th-century cathedral is his life's work, and his passion for the cathedral is obvious every time you join his tour. If you find yourself in Paris, hop a morning train to Chartres and catch his daily tour. Contact the cathedral to confirm dates and times, especially during the off season.
Chartres is a pretty town about an hour south of Paris by train. The Cathedral is older than the one in Paris, the inside has just been renovated and is breathtaking. The veil of Marie is a famous relic. Also look for the red stained glass from the 12th century.

I arrived into Paris hours ahead of schedule and was not set to check-in till 3pm. I headed over and they checked me in hours ahead of schedule to help accommodate me. Staff was wonderful, and perfect location. I will definitely stay here again!
