Chaumoux-Marcilly Holidays

Didn’t get room I booked!!! We arrived late at night and took an uber to the hotel. Door was locked and no one was at the front desk. 5 minutes later, a man lets us in. I booked the “chambre triple” room which had 1 double bed and 1 twin, so technically 3 beds. I booked on Expedia and for some reason, the reservation had only one person. The man basically yelled at me “you only booked for one person?!?” (It was my husband and I and our minor son). And I said I booked the large room what does it matter? And he huffed and puffed. On reservation it says rate is for 3 guests! He asked do you want breakfast, I looked at my husband to see his thoughts and he cut us off, slammed the key to our room down. He told us we were on top floor. DIDNT TELL US THERE WAS AN ELEVATOR! It was pitch dark where the stairs were, I turned a light switch on and this man must have a master switch and turned it right back off 10 seconds later! I turned it on like 3x and the light went right back off, each time faster! JERK! Didn’t discover the elevator till morning and it didn’t even service the top floor. The room we got had 1 double bed. It was missing the twin or the guy deliberately gave us a smaller room. We had enough going up and down the stairs and didn’t feel like fighting with the guy. The window to our room was wide open. Not sure if that’s normal but we searched for bugs. There were rat traps I believe on every floor. The place is old but also felt dirty. Only stayed one night and thank God

The rooms were modern and very well kept! The air conditioning was a dream to have. All of the staff are extremely nice and helpful. We took the train a lot and there are Metros in walking distance.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Walled OFF Hotel. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, and the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel has an older, classic character, but I actually loved that about it. They’ve done a beautiful job of preserving that old-world charm while keeping everything comfortable and well cared for. It gives the hotel a lovely museum-like feel and so much more personality than a modern, generic hotel. The atmosphere is warm, charming, and unique, and the people make the experience even better. I would definitely give this hotel 5 stars and would happily stay here again when I’m back in Paris. The location is amazing close to everything. It’s not your typical luxury 5 star hotel but it’s more the artistic one and for the nightly rate it’s very good❤️
