Beautiful Place

Great place for our family get together! Clean, comfortable, and beautiful views. The only draw back was the roads to the house were rough and steep. We had friends with us who drove a medium sized car and they had a lot of trouble getting to the house.

Beautiful Mountain Top Retreat

This is our second year staying at this awesome property. It is clean, well taken care of and well stocked, and all the beds are comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay

Great place to stay, had everything we needed. Water pressure was low if anything was running in the cabin and hot water didn’t last long but overall, great place to stay.

Lovely cabin

What a beautiful cabin and location. Kitchen has everything you need including some essentials, spices etc. If you love the mountains you'll love this place. All wheel drive or 4 wheel recommended.

Scenic view and lovely home

We loved staying at Carolina Comfort. The house was clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious, private, and had an amazing view. The location was great for hiking in GSMNP, a day trip to Asheville and whitewater rafting. Would definitely return!

The home and location are beautiful. We found it to be clean. The roads are a challenge, but that was part of the beauty of it. We truly felt isolated.

Family vacation

Carolina Comfort was a wonderful home. Well equipped, great location and beautiful views. The road up to the house was steep, but my son's Camry made it fine. Just follow the owners instructions. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and ping pong. We all had our own space and the kitchen was well stocked. Great rental for sure!!

The Carolina Comfort

The Carolina Comfort was perfect for our party of 6. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed. Each couple had there own floor and bathroom. The fire wood was definitely provided. The owner response and communication was excellent. We had a blast for our weekend getaway. Will definitely remember this location and would definitely use again. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home!

The stay was amazing. Only problem we had was there was not any curtains to the windows in the living area and kitchen. I understand the view is amazing but I think we should have had an option. Besides that. Everything was wonderful.

Awesome stay!

Property was just as awesome as advertised! Loved the views and all the amenities here within the Carolina Comfort residence! Had some great fun with some ping pong, horseshoe pit was awesome. They offered cards and other board games. House was fully furnished and plenty to offer. The WiFi here was very wonky which would be my biggest gripe. They had plenty of extension it seemed however for the most part I could not watch or stream anything over my phone/tablets on 720p up. Might be some room to grow there if thats feasible for the place. Only one tv in the location, would be cool to see a TV down in the ping ping room/Bar area. Jacuzzi/hot tub was awesome. We had a small problem with getting temperatures up and the host got us in contact with their hot tub guy at 11PM at night and got us running. Super cool to help us out! Loved our stay and would highly recommend!!

Hurricane Helene Stay

Make sure that you purchase rental insurance if you rent this property. We had it rented for the week just after the devastation of Hurricane Helene when the government officials of both the state and local governments were asking people not to come to western NC.I made contact with the host about rescheduling our visit and he would not work with me. I did not ask for a refund I simple asked if he would reschedule the rental dates to a later time. His replies to my request were "the road is good, the house is good". I ended up going for two nights of the four nights I rented the house for. My sisters and I worked at a local church preparing meals for the people who were displaced and who had not power. I wanted to give back the to communities that I have loved visiting all of my life. I was going to make lemonade out of the lemons I had been delt. God always works out good no matter what circumstance you find yourself in. We found dirty dishes in the cabinet, The hot tub lid had been blown off and was full of debris from the storm, porch was full of debris as well. It was evident that no one had been to check the house since the storm. The beds were comfortable. After a long days work preparing meals if was nice to have a bed to sleep in and to be able to take a shower. This was much more that many of the residence of the area had available to them.

Maggie Valley Vacation

This was one of our best family vacations ever and was highlighted by two bull elk fighting one evening in downtown Maggie Valley. The cabin provided plenty of space for our family and the beds and bathrooms were great. Communication with the property owner exceptional. The owner provided an illustrated book in the mail a couple weeks prior to our trip that outlined basically everything we needed to know to include detailed directions to the cabin, which were very helpful. He stated several times in his communications to feel free to call if we had any questions or concerns. The driveway can be negotiated in 2WD; however, I would not attempt it in inclement weather. The view from the deck is now slightly obstructed by some small tree tops, but I was still great and I would imagine it is spectacular when the leaves come off the trees. The only issue we had was that we accidentally turned off a light switch that controlled the power to the internet modem. We discovered it after about 4 hrs of believing the internet was out. It would be helpful for that switch to be labeled as most of the other ones in the house were. This was a minor inconvenience and did not impact the quality of our stay. Over all it was a great

Downhill after the first few hours

Excellent location, neighborhood, and views! The reason for my somewhat negative review is simply due to many issues. I will give the facts and you can be the judge. My family was very excited for this trip. The weather unfortunately got extreme. 1st night was -10°F. Anticipating issues, I reached out to Dave asking if we had to do anything upon arrival due to extreme cold. I was assured that we would have no issues with the cabin and I just needed 4-wheel drive. We arrived later that week, late in the afternoon. Tired, we went to sleep soon after unpacking. My boys are 2 and 4 years old. My 2 year-old woke up in the middle of the night repeating over and over that he was cold. When I woke up, I realized it was very cold in the cabin. The thermostat, set to 65°, read 53°F. My son was pale blue. I wrapped him in a wool blanket to keep him warm and went to find out what happened to the heat. The auxiliary heat was broken. The breaker kept tripping. We lit both fireplaces to aid in the heating of the house. I also went to start a warm bath so we could warm them up. The water wasn’t running. After a few hours of running the fireplace, it started to produce smoke inside the house. So we turned it off. We thought about using the hot tub to warm up, but didn’t have a way to rinse the chemicals afterwards, so we couldn’t do that. I reached out to Dave. Communication was a bit slow at first. Considering the situation was pretty serious, I would’ve expected more attention to the issues. Dave made a 4 hour trip out to the cabin since we weren’t getting anyone to repair it soon enough. Dave mentioned that owning a VRBO is sometimes a headache due to false alarm calls about issues. So I understand his hesitation in giving us full attention. After meeting with us, communication and desire to help was greatly improved. Unfortunately, Dave couldn’t get anyone to fix the water until the night before we were scheduled to leave, the heat was not repaired before our departure and the fireplace was damaged and could not be used. Dave offered a refund if we left. We did look into this but with such short notice, there wasn’t any options for my family. We had to rent a hotel room so we could shower, the neighbor provided 5 gal buckets so we could flush toilets, and we had to make countless trips to a creek to fill them. We accidentally overstayed by 1 night. We were given 1 out of 6 nights refund & no charge extra night. I asked if that was honestly fair. No reply!

Carolina Comfort

Lovely house and gorgeous mountain views to watch a sunrise or the changing sky! Nice deck and covered front porch with rockers. Gravel mountain road requires confidence in low gear or 4x4. Living room and bedrooms comfortable. Lots of supplies snd spices in kitchen. Great gas stove. A/C if needed is plentiful. Water pressure was an issue when trying to run more than one faucet or washing machine, flush toilet, or shower. Owner unable to fix problem while we were there because of lack of available plumbers until our last day. No pressure problem after plumber’s visit. We made the pressure issue work for us during the two weeks we were there mostly by using only one shower. Owner reimbursed us for part of our stay and was very apologetic. Fire-pit was a HUGE success. Owner provides wood. Marshmallow/hot dog projecting sticks provided in kitchen

We were unable to access the property driving 2 wheel drive truck, pulling a trailer. The road is a steep incline with gravel. No response from the owner!

Did not want to leave 😔

This was the cleanest and nice cabin I have yet to have had the pleasure to stay in. Check in was good and convenient. All the rooms was spacious and the beds was so comfortable. Everything you need and want was available and in the cabin . I loved the fireplace and the hot tub on the balcony. And believe it we actually got in the hot tub and it was light 30 degrees outside but the hot tub felt like it was a summer day. We didn’t want to leave😔. I asked for a late check and they replied and gave it to us. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CABIN you will enjoy it so so much. We would love to come back in the month of December it would be the idea place to stay for Christmas. I will plan on coming back very very soon. And I’m still telling family and friends about this absolutely gorgeous cabin… definitely a must stay again and we my family and I will be coming back very soon. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!
