“Arrived to a warm welcome, supplied with all information required and reassured there was 24 hour cover should it be needed. The room was spotless, comfortable and had everything required. We were able to alter the heating to suit ourselves, making our stay very comfortable. The ensuite had ample big fluffy towels and luxury toiletries. We even had a yellow rubber duck. Breakfast was great...a substantial menu but happily did just scrambled for myself and baked beans for my husband. Also……

“What an amazing boutique hotel. Fabulous location at the bottom of a wonderful cobbled hill. Lovely room with comfortable bed. Perfect location. Great cooked breakfast - very tasty. Lovely lady called Janet was the welcoming waitress. We had a great chat. Couldn’t fault the place at all. We’ll return! ”

Just a few minor points to note & could be improved - bedroom window could not be opened to let in fresh air & badly needed dusting. Not enough electrical sockets & could have been better positioned close to mirror for make up, hair etc. Other than that, it was a beautiful atmospheric and classy hotel and full of character. ”

“The setting is beautiful and the staff amazing. We took our 2 Spaniels with us and stayed in a dog friendly suite. Room was huge and surprisingly warm considering it was a converted Castle. Breakfast in the morning was decent and you are within 25 mins of York. All in all a great trip and we will 100% stay here again. ”

“The grounds and building was beautiful, nipping clean. Breakfast was beautiful quality and plenty of choice, self serve coffee machines however I can’t drink cows milk so the staff were happy to freshly make me an oat milk latte. The spa was beautiful plenty of lounges and the hot tub outdoor was a nice wake up the next morning in the fresh air”
